its only 3 hours your fine
isn't this the 1st emergency maint. since 3.4 hit?
Well they probably implemented the gathering/crafting stuff....or did they do that yesterday? I wasn't here
Either way this'll probably go on for a few more days, so calm down. They get rid of bad bugs really fast, usually, with the release of a patch.
How dare they try to fix things. Shame on them.
This isn't Eve Online what another game does is irrelevant.
Why are there always so many apologists whenever someone points out a potential flaw? I'll never understand the strange fan base of this game.
Eve Online has some of the best servers in the gaming world.
And they take those servers down to do maintenance every day at 11am GMT. I'm not sure about nowadays, but it used to last about half an hour to an hour.
Second. First time I've played during a patch launch and I've got to say I'm with OP. In total we're talking 32 hours downtime. Never have I played an mmo where a patch required an initial 24 hours in the first place, or an MMO where a further eight hours of emergency hotfix time is required. Sure stuff happens, but why are timings so long for FFXIV?
Also when emergency maint has been required in other mmos I've played, it's a shorter time period and we're given some details as to what the fixes actually are.
Monday - Maintenance To implement the patch
Tuesday - No Maintenance
Wednesday - Secondary Maintenance to hot fix any initial bugs plus allow for them to implement Gatherer/Crafter reset stuff (as they've done since like...3.05) - Two hours
Thursday - Emergency Hotfix Maintenance due to possible game breaking bugs or exploits. - Projected for three hours, possibly shorter.
We had one day without emergency maintenance. It was /PATCH DAY/. Wednesday's maintenance is a normal thing with every major patch and has been since they moved crafting/gathering reset to Thursday.
Two hours on one day and three hours on the next isn't world ending. At least the game gets fixed in a timely manner. As opposed to certain other games which sit on massive bugs for weeks to months before anything is done about them.
Meanwhile on games managed by nexon we have 8-12 hours weekly maints, most likely extended for another 5 hours for no actual reason, no fixes or patches and servers crash left and right after a couple of hours servers are up.
It's great.
Thursdays maintenance was expected because if you remember they did the same thing in 3.3. Servers went down in 48h after patch went live to add crafting/gathering for thursday. Also, it's common for them to finish maintenance early.
I know this one is for a WT bug but, why didn't they just fix it during yesterday maintenance? They were probably already aware of the issue.
Speaking of yesterday maintenance, what was it for?
I understand the frustration, heck I was ready to log in myself, however I'd rather the bugs be dealt with sooner rather than later. If you had a bunch of ants crawling around in your computer, I bet you'd want them out immediately.
The OP is absolutely right. People are paying for this and some of us have very limited time and what limited time we have has been taken up with nonsense. I stopped playing for a while because of junk like this- every time I could play there was randomly maintenance. Pick a day and do maintenance regularly, if you MUST do hotfixes or whatnot, have a sandbox or test server of some sort to figure things out on, get it together, THEN implement it quickly. This should have been more than dealt with within the 24 hours FFXIV was down for for this patch.
Players will beta test FOR you in order to experience the content first, find bugs and you can even cherry pick the players that will help you find bugs. Other companies have had sandboxes/test realms, it works.
I have never seen a game with this much random downtime. It shows blatant disregard for their customer's time. What difference does it make if they "fix things" if we can never play?
This game does not have that much maintenance aside from patch days and even if they had testing weird bugs will pop up from time to time and emergency maintenance will happen after patches.
If they left the bugs/issues in without fixing them, your thread would be complaining about that instead. Go outside, clean your house, talk to friends.
Granted. But they've just had 24 hours to implement the patch, then 4 hours yesterday to fix any potential problems caused by it. What on earth did they do in the 4 hours yesterday to now need another 3 today?
Necessary or not, that's quite a lot of down time in a short period.
Servers are back up, early.
So where were these crazy "too much maintenance" threads like......................the two months before 3.4 came out
I mean if the game does have so many unscheduled maintenances.
Guys, stop being rude. I wasn't rude, I was constructive. If I came off as rude I apologize, as that was not my intention. My boyfriend and I have very limited time to play and are upset by the 31 hours of maintenance in the last 72 hours. Being upset about that and offering suggestions isn't "dramatic" or "playing the victim".. it's actually quite the opposite and constructive. The people here calling names and attempting to psycho analyze random people on forums, however, are only being destructive. Please just stop. We don't need to be hateful or nasty.
Except it isn't a flaw. The whole point of "emergency maintenance" is an unexpected issue occurred and they are fixing it. I mean, hey, they could just launch the patch and not update errors at all. But how long would it be until we saw threads crying "omg, Square! Fix your game!"?
Shock horror. Developers aren't perfect.
I think the fact that Primal has had a lot of downtime since 3.4 may have made it seem that there's been far more maintenance than there actually has.
they don't refund the lost time either.... buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut BLIZZARD does! and they are asymmetrical GARBAGE!..... but they do that right at least.... also you can be a big mean cat.... i wanna be Nanaki.....
