GC First Lieutenant

Any one know way we can't rank up to 1st Lieutenant yet? -_-

Yoshi said a while back that the previous GC ranks felt a little meaningless because of how easy they were to achieve and they didn't like using currency to simply buy them. I'm fairly sure future ranks are going to take some time to unlock. According to the Squadron tutorial there should be special missions that unlock at some point that are different to the normal ones. I would guess that one of these missions needs to be completed to unlock the new GC rank.

I haven't figured out how you even get your fourth member to join your squadron, let alone ranking them up.

Do stuff out of your challage log, each time you complete a task you have a random chance to get a recriut

They have a chance of showing up when you complete challenge log items.

Well i have a squad of 8, which is teh most you can have atm.
You can do 3 training missions at the same time as 1 normal mission(1h vs 18h)

Speculation:

Since mission log resets weekly, I imagine available missions will adjust to your squad's level. Mostly likely the mission you have to do to unlock stuff is one of those higher level missions.

I would not be surprised for them to have made the requirement be the highest level mission possible for the rank up.

This is so rng based I have not get a 4th member and I finished like 8 things on the challenge log.

My guess is since the first 5 missions you get are listed as "Trainee Missions", doing all 5 might rank you up... But they're all 18 hour missions, so that's a good 90 hours of wait total.

Question is how did you guys get a 4th member I done a good deal of the challenge long and nothing.

OMG! You mean we have to actually work for our GC rank ups? Goodbye cruel non-instant gratification world!

Also, you have to go into the Squadron room and go through the short introduction in there before they will start to appear in your list from completing challenges.

Its not work its rng based some people easily got their 4th member while others have done a lot in the challenge log. Rank ups shouldn't be rng based.

Its every single part of the challange log can give you an member.

Like say Beast tribe quest log has 2 parts right? well completing one of those already gives you a chance. Ive done only like 12 missions in challange log complete and I have 8 members.

Btw, you can check under timers if you have new recruits.

Says I have none but i just have been visiting the place after every time I do something, running out of things to do.

Most likely those people that don't have any yet didn't actually complete the Squadron "tutorial" to actually fully unlock it. I know because I wondered why I wasn't getting any recruits, went into the Squadron room, and realized it wasn't fully u locked yet.

Do some simple ones like gold saucer, that could work.

Ofcorse I have, I am in the room where it says do challenge log to get new recruits, its rng based I got unlucky.

Define work... cause pushing a button and waiting a day doesn't seem like work to me. Nothing more than freemium game type maintenance. Why oh why would they decide to copy literally the worst feature from WoW I'll never know ;p

PS Challenge logs aren't work either as those get done just by existing.

This is so frustrating did 2 more challenge log and still nothing.

They should NEVER tie any progress to RNG...
I wonder what the requirements are for those "Star-Missions" to appear?

How much unique Challange logs have you completed now? If you still aren't getting them, then it has nothing to dow ith RNG, but more so with something you are missing in it.

What challenge log? All I see is the timer thing and of course I have nothing there. Where do I find the challenges I am supposed to complete to get things started?

You need to unlock squadrons first, at some point the helper will tell you to go find a 4th member. Which you can get from completing challenges in the challenge log. The challenge log is the log that has all the things it like Golden saucer, beast tribes, dungeons, commendations, guild hests, companion etc. to complete for gil and mgp etc.

for each one you complete, you will have the change to get a new recruit.

I just hit level 20 with my squadron members and it unlocked a new mission. The mission is lvl20 and is way too difficult for my squad to handle. There is no mention of MY rank going up, however completing this mission will increase the rank of my squad. More to come as I level.

The Challenge Log is unlocked from the quest "Rising to the Challenge" at the Drowning Wench in Limsa Lominsa.

I am not missing anything all the main npc in the room says to do challenge log the book on the desk says it too, since my last post I done 3 more challenges and still no recruits. Its aggravating like the previous post who has 7 people and I can't get 1.

Just unlocked this as well. Don't meet the stat requirements even if I hadn't had my CNJ fall behind because I switched to a different one. My stats would have been 238/248/250.

I'm leaving that mission for the end of the week. Going to do the other missions and keep training until then.

Since some people seem to have a harder time getting recruits, one thing they could probably do is make some of the Overall Completion challenges guarantee a recruit...

I am over the requirement on 2 stats, and only a little under on the third. He gave me the same "we're not ready" but I told him to send them on it anyway. Will know more tomorrow when I get home from work.

Good luck! I'm not chancing it, i'm gonna wait like Momomi and do some more missions before I give it a shot.

I hate how our PvP career doesn't mean anything in GC ranking. I fought and won hundreds of matches for my GC in Frontline. I should be a general already.

Didn't notice it mentioned but there is an item you can buy from grand company that makes recruits show up much more reliably

Its worth noting if you look at the top of your mission list on the icon, all the missions currently listed are under training missions. I don't think we have gotten to the real missions yet.

The bad luck people are having is a bummer. It would be nice if they put some safeguard in place against really bad luck. I have had a lot of recruits though for some strange reason they have ALL been Sea Wolves. I guess I am popular in Limsa for some reason.

Problem with that item is you already need to have ranked up to first lieutenant to buy it. If we need a good squadron to get first lieutenant then by the time we can buy that item, we won't need it... so that's basically for if you decide you want a new looking character on your squad.
