Scholars are useless now......

I have seen at least 2 statics that have kicked out their scholars because they didn't want to level Astroligan. I hope all of you are happy with the changes.

Oh no, 2 parties of elitist narrow-minded jerks have thrown out a SCH in favor of AST. This patch has killed SCHs as we know it! /eyeroll

May their ASTs never draw anything but Spires, Ewers and Spears.

Maybe the SCH can't pull the weight?

If AST are at the point where they're interchangeable with SCH with one or the other being a slightly better at a fight depending on which fight it is, of course hyper zealous elitists would be put off that their healer wouldn't be willing to push in a brand new raid tier.

Bad statics then. Scholar is still better in the offhealer position, and only an idiot would make a scholar switch to AST.

Why isn't the white mage switching to AST if they want the buffs that bad?

Yeah if they were truly elitist, they would kick the WHM. :D

Hmm, maybe I should go look for a static while the AST buffs are fresh and people think it's some kind of overpowered zealot healer god.

But nah I tried out WHM/AST composition to see how it fares and I still think I prefer SCH in the off healer slot. As much as I love my cards, it's so useful having the fairy around, among other things.

I love these threads, both this one and the one about WHMs being dead.

Now to wait 3 months to see 7(or 8) wars killing A12S to tell us how important party compositions are.

if statics replace their sch or their whm in favor of an ast, doesn't that mean ast is finally well balanced since it now can fill either role? cause without the buff those parties would still go whm+sch and get stuff done anyway (after all neither of the 2 got nerfed)

This made me lolz. Scholars are far from useless. I'm learning to Astro too so I am able to
Switch when needed but lolz useless.

Yup, sch still have the Best dps and the only cards buff isn't enough to compensate the dps sch can pull off !
But I'm quite happy ast can now predent to a group as both main or off healer role !

These WHM-vs-AST-vs-SCH threads are getting old. SE would pretty much have to kill the fairy for AST to be better than SCH. AST is fun and also they are RNG based. Yeah when you actually draw balance or something useful they are nice to have. SCH is consistent and has much better mana/dps sustainability thanks to aetherflow and their fairy. I am playing N.AST/SCH so I am not biased as I enjoy ALL of the healer roles.

These ast buff litterall made healers more competitive between each other and now that the sch/whm combo now see a threat to take there spot they want to complain on the forums because astrologian can now compete with there precious spots in raids now

No longer are astrologian in pain begining the expansion where we was rock bottem now we have a fighting chance and the whm/sch now fear us and it feels sooo damn nice :D

God, people and their whining. First, AST sucked and no on wanted them. Then they get buffed up to the level of WHM and SCH and now both those jobs are "dead . . . RIP!"

ROFL...why would anybody get rid of a SCH? They have more damage than AST and can mitigate a lot more damage overall.

Lol no, our SCH is doing just fine. Our other healer double mains AST/WHM so we were set for these changes. Our SCH actually wanted to AST but we want him to remain SCH.

Depends. If your raid comp has two healer slots open, and you get Bob (WHM) and Tom (AST) show up, and the raid is fine with it because the healers in tandem with each other cover the necessary bases, then yes, that's fine. If they're going for AST because theorycraft showed that the AST buffs result in greater raid DPS, giving the raid's healers the option of "switch to AST or be kicked", then you have a huge problem because one's utility is overshadowing the contribution of the other members of the roster. Basically what I predict happens when you bank on utility/buffs instead of keeping said mechanics on a leash.

I'm not sure why a raid would kick a SCH, but that's how I see the situation.

Anyone that obsessed with min maxing will kick someone out every single patch. That doesn't make scholar useless.

I do think we're too reliant on crit (rng) and SE likes to hide it from us. ;-;
But useless? I doubt I'd go that far, you should only be worried if you're a bad scholar.

I honestly can't see my MH (whm) or any smart MH for that matter, just ditching their SCH OH purely based on these changes, you'll see a lot more Noct Ast's for sure but Noct was severely under represented in anywhere but pvp pre-patch.

I'm glad it was buffed, really.
Although I don't like AST at all and I don't intend to play it even with the changes.

Indeed. People tend to look at at any nerf on the planet as this really big thing, so they think their favorite classes are now worthless because its numbers got a minor adjustment at best. Knee-jerk reactions at their best.

To the OP, the problem isn't Scholars, it's that those statics consist of terrible people.

Just tried out whm/ast combo in a9s and 10s last night. It really didn't go at all bad or annoying. Though 9 i went diurnal anyways since you really don't need the shield for much of anythings. Just kept hots running and it's almost like eos was there. Also zero issues in 10 as noct. But I guess the real test is how 11 and 12 is gonna go I guess.
