Squadron Recruits

Ok... I think Square needs to set some limits on what NPCs can and can't apply for the Squadrons...

Nope, gag members are the best. I will happily have my whole unit be full of Event gear wearing hooligans if given the opportunity.

My first new recruit was a cute Xaela Arcanist who said that she was looking for a CO who "Knew how to balance work with play".

I'm liking this system already.

Have you seen what other players wear? This is tame. And I think he wants a hug. Should so send him on missions with lava so he can make melting puns.

My first recruit was an female Elezan rouge in the reindeer gear.

Well obviously he knows you're in ishgard a lot so he's showing off his cold weather battle armor.

FC friend on the other hand, received an application from a scantily dressed female roe.

I've got Cat girl gladiator as my first recruit.A good sign for making Harem .. er .. I mean Dream Team.

Not quite swimwear, but I had a scantily clad male roe arcanist called Raging Ox (he was wearing some sort of leather underwear/bottoms on, not much else).

Khojin couldn't accept his application fast enough. :3

It could be pure RNG, but I wonder if their reasons are linked to which challenge log pops them? I got "I wish to serve under an officer whose hands can create as well as destroy." after completing a crafting challenge.

...ok, I wasn't sure where I wanted to go with squadrons at first, but I 100% want one full of ridiculous gear now!

My first recruit was a miqo'te guy wearing the battlemage set from Brayflox, and I went in only wanting Roes, but I love that set too much to turn him away.

I like the variety of characters that show up!

I wondered that, too. After completing a couple Gold Saucer challenges, I got a recruit who wanted a commander who could balance work and play. Then after completing "Crafting Up a Storm" I got a recruit who said she wanted a commander who could create as well as destroy. (Haven't gotten any wearing comic outfits, though.)

Im going to be very picky about my squadrons (even if it takes forever) so i would like to just kick the first three squadrons you get at the start.

I wouldn't dismiss the originals right away (though I'm pretty sure you can), because you need a minimum of four members in order to do anything. Once you have more than four, you can start weeding out the ones you don't like as well without blocking your access to missions and training. The maximum you can have at any one time is eight. If you already have eight members in your squadron, and get another applicant, you'd have to dismiss one in order to accept the new recruit in their place.

My catte grill and lizard waifu squad will be the on-pointest of on-point squads.

Can confirm. I got a recruit who could "create as well as destroy" from Crafting Up a Storm (HQ).

And "balance work and play" from Gold Saucer.

I think each type of activity has a different pool of possible recruits.

Gotta love the squads. Ill finally be able to have my lala harem ;_;

I honestly think this a large part of the idea, even within the lore. These guys aren't all that experienced, and are using the Squadron to learn from the best adventurer around.

So we get people in mismatched gear, goofy costumes.... And the gear hacker XD

I think they get a randomized class, to some extent at least...

Like some NPCs will be tanks (GLA/MRD), some casters (CNJ/ACN/THM) and some physical (ARC/ROG/LNC/PUG), as split by the manuals available at Lieutenant First Class (once they fix the promotion, or someone figures out the requirements) in the GC...

I got the reindeer Elezen after completing a bunch of Gold Saucer challenge logs.
I sent the squad out on a mission to patrol the city after that. They managed to complete it without taking bribes and stabbing me in the back.

It's actually funny cause my very first recruit was the one in the OP picture. It was right after doing the challenge log for the Gold Saucer. I didn't want to recuit him at first, but I gave him a chance, and as if this post, is doing sit-ups in my barracks.

I can't wait to go into dungeons with this one in the future xD

For what we trained fighting retainers?
Does that mean we can kick them and they are just worth to have gatherer class?

lol I have a recruit named Gnawing Goat or something. It's the ugliest roegadyn I've ever seen. Tempted to make a squad of horrible looking characters for the luls.
