Woah woah woah Edda glamour won't be Unisex but will be a reward for PotD and no male equivalent?
Bad move. Baaaad move. It's one thing to make Gold Saucer and Cash Shop stuff gender-locked.
Rewards for battle content is a whooooole different issue.
Bad bad bad bad...
I don't want the outfit at all but this'll not be taken lightly by the community...
He also said he really wouldn't want unisex items for everything as it would mean less items overall due to development time...:/ Is that why we've been waiting 6 months+ for male bunny ears lmfao...
I am guessing, unlocking the Bunny outfit for males is his (Yoshi-P) way of justifying the release of another female outfit only (Edda dress). I am glad that the males get their bunny outfits (after one year and 9 months), but this feels like one step forward, two steps back.
This. Just. Broke. My. Heart.Quote:
Q. No plans on adding a book that can store and manage equipment?
A. all i can say now is please through away what you don't need until that day comes. I do understand how you feel...I'm the type of person who leaves the gear i like inside my armoury chest and my retainers are packed with equipment, but it becomes endless. throw them away or turn them into Grand company seals. so i would like players to clean out their retainers at the end of the year.
NO.
I WON'T DO THAT.
Also, only 20 fish for the aquariums? I just went on a fishing/shopping spree and got like 40 that I really like..so I might have to wait years until they get implemented? x.X
Urgh.
Sophia sounds really interesting and fun though. And lol, I keep forgetting that raid finder even exists...
I am happy to hear we might get a male version of the bunny suit, yay, but the Edda dress, and not maintaining "equality" that is some serious bull. It's easy to say "we wont maintain equality" when everything is geared towards female characters in general. anything that is designed for men is usually unisex, but if its for women, its only for them. WHERE ARE THE MALE ONLY GLAMOURS YOU PROMISED US!!! ARGH!! sorry bit of rage, but its like really, just really, you're adding the male bunny suit because people said it wasn't fair. I mean you made the Gambler attire unisex because you wanted it to be on females too, SE I question your decisions sometimes, T.T
The issue with unisex gear is that it is often released as male only but so many people complain (females & males-playing-as-females) they get worked on. Unfortunately, when the reverse is asked for it is met with derision & even bigotry on the forum, therefore it falls by the wayside.
I do not get this part. I am probably overreacting, but is he hinting that the male developers do not want to work on the male bunny outfit, so the female staff need to work on it? Otherwise, why mention the gender of the staff at all?
Q. So men and women are going to be able to equip it?
A.Yes. The NA community had an especially high demand so we thought we should do it. Our female staff is putting hard work into creating it.
It's either so it's gonna be gear designed in a way that females find it attractive or, its because the male staff don't want to be associated with it because men dressing in something feminine is looked down heavily on in Japan.
Maybe male developers worked on the bunny outfit for females (to appeal to a male audience...?), so now they're doing the reverse (make them in a way that appeals the female audience. idunno, I'm not a Playboy wizard)?
Now that they're doing this... I kinda expect to see our dear friend, Inspector Hildibrand Heliodor Maximilian Manderville in a bunny suit. Because convoluted reasons that will somehow make perfect sense.
My interpretation of this was that Yoshi P was trying to assure folks that the results will be intended to be sexy, rather than silly. Hopefully, this means that we'll get something more along the lines of Chippendale dancers rather than a guy "hilariously" stuffed into an ill-fitting Playboy Bunny outfit.
Isn't it awesome that they add things they think the playerbase might find nice without having to be asked? Outside of wishing I could sit properly in the beach chairs in the Mist, I never gave this idea much thought but I was certainly excited to hear they'd add it. I really like how they don't ignore the fluffy side of content like many other games do. I appreciate that they actually have an interest in breathing some life into the social aspect of their game and consider such nice and harmless ideas as allowing players to all sit out on actual chairs during beach events rather than focusing entirely on some monotonous stat grind that a lot of players do not give a *bleep* about.
But that's just me.
Hallelujah, at long last people can stop complaining, whining that "They'll never get to see and explore Xelphatol now that it's just a dungeon!"Quote:
Q. Xelphatol is located in the east of Abalathian's spine, but this is the first time this area showed up in the game no?
A. Yes. Of course it has a setting to be a huge field, but the theme this time is the main base of the Ixali located in the valleys of Xelphatol, so you won't witness the whole region.
BOOOOOOOOOOOQuote:
Q. With all of this new equipment, there must be a lot of people with their retainers fully filled up. No plans on adding a book that can store and manage equipment?
A. The development task to expand the armoury chest and inventory has already stareted, but all i can say now is please through away what you don't need until that day comes (wry smile). I do understand how you feel...I'm the type of person who leaves the gear i like inside my armoury chest and my retainers are packed with equipment, but it becomes endless so i think you should hand the retainerswhat you really want to keep. Or throw them away or turn them into Grand company seals. The calamity salvager can hold seasonal items so i would like players to clean out their retainers at the end of the year.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
This, on the other hand, I'm extremely excited about. Love how the Blackbosom outfit looked. Gorgeous.Quote:
Q. Talking about equipment, You're adding the gear Edda was wearing in the deep dungeon right?
A. We got a lot of feed back so we are considering getting our hands on that. That was specifically made for Edda and only for Edda's model, so we need to render it for all races.
But seriously, 4.0 can't come soon enough. They'd better not renege on the promised inventory expansion. And telling us to just clear out the equipment we've worked hard grinding content to acquire because we like how it looks? Really, what the fuck Yoshida...
Bunny suits on Roegadyn and Au'ra guys should be fun to see.
Also don't much mind the restricted number of fish you can put in the aquarium. Orchestrion had a limited number of songs at first too, but they've been steadily increasing the catalog. I'm sure they'll do the same with the aquariums, and that's fine by me.
Can really get behind what Yoshi-P's saying about progression and end game. FFXIV is the first MMO I've ever played where I actually hit the level cap at all, let alone went on to hit the cap on everything. Still, now that I've reached that point, I do feel a bit listless, just trying to catch up to the absolute pinnacle of the end game. It does sound like they've got plenty of plans in the future to help alleviate such boredom, and I for one look forward to seeing it, however far ahead that may be.
Yay Now I know what me new healer glamour will be.
I was searching google for some pictures of the new bunny suit. Is this it?
http://www.buycostumes.com/ideas/wp-...nnie-darko.png
I can see them taking over my server completely if so. It's a pretty hot looking desgin.
Men in bunny suits will probably be asking other guys:

Sigh I'd really like some type of unique level system, ILvl is so boring, but oh well...I was hoping 4.0 would change it up.
After reading this I feel really bad for Yoshi bc all the complaints he gets, he tries to fix but just can't do it. SIX MONTHS TO CREATE AN OUTFIT?? No wonder he can't unisex everything. He tries to please each type of player: battle, crafter, homeowner, story junkie, Gold Saucerer with each patch but it just isn't enough & people(at least in English) complain non freaking stop instead of appreciating the work the dev team does on every issue except maybe lore. He adds something that isn't an expert dungeon = instant complaint & ridicule for how it didn't live up to expectations.
Sometimes I wish the director would just stop talking about the game and just make it. He reminds me of Peter Molyneux at times.
Whenever he speaks he 1. Makes promises he can't keep. Egi glamour, housing. 2. Says something that pisses people off. Won't be adding job variety, wants to make the game even more faceroll easy. 3. Announces something that causes an outrage. cash shop or emotes attached to $100 statues or gender locked battle rewards.
At this point whenever he does an interview it's just putting me off the game more and more. I'm already teetering on the fence of quitting come the expansion and at this point whenever he speaks he's just tipping me even further to the quitting side.
Oh and ffxi's too addictive? Ha, rich coming from a "you have to play every day to stay up to date due to daily limits and weekly caps!" Game that extorts subs out of you because if you quit for more than a month to let content build up they take away your house and free company!
Normally I don't like these kinds of posts because they come across as overly sarcastic and passive-agressive, but I couldn't help but feel it was appropriate here.
That's literally what your post sounds like to me, so forgive me if I have a hard time sympathising with your perspective.Quote:
Sometimes I wish the director would just stop trying to be open and communicative with us and just spend that "down time" from Liveletters working even harder on the actual game.
Whenever he speaks, he:
1. Makes promises that his team tackles regardless of the difficulty involved; such as Egi glamours and housing. But he never seems to predict unforeseen problems and delays!
2. Says something that certain types of players disagree with - it's like it's the hardest thing in the world to appease everyone ever.
3. <repeats same point as above, but phrased differently>
At this point, whenever he takes the time out of his schedule to let us know what is coming, what isn't, and what problems/uncertainties they encountered, it's just putting me off the game more and more. This game clearly isn't for me but all of the other MMOs and non-communicative game directors out there are too good to go relish in just yet, I feel, so I haven't left as of this moment.
With that said, I think it's better I make a point of the following:
I am not suggesting that everyone be 100% satisfied with everything in the game.
I am not suggesting that people should hold their tongue and not question certain elements being introduced to the game nor it's direction.
I am not suggesting that people not air their discontent with any aspect of the game.
I am not even suggesting that people not mention their pet peeves..... so long as they admit that they are just that, pet peeves and irrational feelings of irritation.
What I AM suggesting is that people stop adopting this ridiculously obtuse perspective and behaving as though every single player in the game thought exactly as they did while inferring that their opinions were the absolute truth just because they decided on their own that they represented the overwhelming majority. Everyone has the right to feel frustrated, slighted and even impatient and I wouldn't dare suggest that it was wrong of anyone to feel that way. What gets to me is when people treat every situation as though Yoshi and his team deliberately set out to disappoint or take some lazy approach when it is in their every interest to do exactly the opposite. Things may sound wonderfully easy and straightforward in theory, but the reality is that no-one here truly has any idea whatsoever about what difficulties they face - even with what may seem to the simplest of tasks. Whether that is related to 1.0 or not I do not know, but the problems are obviously there. I honestly imagine that even were the Dev team as lazy and incompetent as people want to believe they are, they'd still have sorted out these issues a long, long time ago if they were half as easy to remedy as people seem to imply - all just to stop hearing the requests and complaints about it's absence.
You'd have a fair point if it was just encountering problems and unforeseen circumstances, but it's not. They're doing it to themselves because their priorities are ass backwards.
"I know you all want a good glamour system but that's not going to happen so please just throw all your glamours away... that said, our team is working tirelessly to put all our resources into ADDING MORE GLAMOURS!!".
They need to fix their core systems before adding more fluff to go into that core system.
Wait, so we will not know where the story goes even after the fan fest? What the hell? NO Ala Mhigo after all?
nothing to fix they don't want you to be able to hold every item in the game so you have to manage your inventory if you choose to not you can have more space by buying retainers (which isn't needed) or just never have any space and complain they aren't giving you more when they said that isn't the desired use of the system
There's plenty they can do to ease the issue without a glamour log, though a log would be much appreciated seeing as even WoW has it so there's no real "engine limitations" excuses (WoW is running on a heavily, heavily modified Warcraft 3 engine) but instead they fill our inventories with more junk.
The major one being currencies, why are these not stored in the key items tab or currencies section? I have to hold the anima items, beast tribe items, Alexander items and so on. Housing items! You'd think they'd give us a storage for this, but with a small holding a maximum of 100 items (split between 3 people in my case), my 2nd retainer has the entire page filled with furniture. We can't buy back event furniture (correct me if I'm wrong), if I throw it away I'd have to fork over $$ when they eventually add it to the Mogstation. Another suggestion would be to do what WoW does and make old raid (Crystal Tower) sets attainable with gil at a low cost (or tradeable?), so we can get it back without grinding hours on end.
I only play one Job so it hasn't been a major issue for me, 2 retainers are full but I've removed sets I can acquire easily. I can't imagine how it is with more than one class. Surely Yoshida has maxed out retainers considering he's the director and all, and he says he struggles with space. Why didn't they increase the inventory or give out a free retainer with Heavensward to begin with?
Enough with the complaints from me, looking forward to what the Alexander mechanic Yoshida is hyping up will be.
I'm very excited that they finally acknowledged the possibility of having a male version of the bunny suit.
Only to feel kind of down that meanwhile they are already planning on adding Edda's gear so soon after the release of PotD while we had to ask literally for years for bunny ears... I don't... remember even seeing a threat sorely made for requesting Edda's gear...
Whatever. Bunny gear. Now let's just... pray it won't be a cheap recolor or some very ugly looking gear...
Its still wrong, saying times have changed doesn't mean its ok to do so. I can continue this argument, but this thread will dive deep down in politics/religion/policies/world views.
As some believe they're are ok with men wearing dresses in this game, I will counter with my and others belief alike and say its not ok. Like all beliefs, you will fight for your side and I will for my side.
reason why Yoshi P wont do it is because of this
Q. Are you adding something different for men?
A. No. If we try to maintain that equity as a policy, we'll have to make most equipment unisex, and on top of that it'll require more development time and we'll have to cut the amount of total gear we can implement. At the moment we are working to get rid of the gender lock for bunny suits for men.
Also per Yoshi P I will speak up on what I think about what is ok/not ok about the game.
"the problem is, those people don't raise their voices and log in normally or just fade out after getting bored of the game." "We need to watch out for those players with no voices."
Clothing made for female characters should stay on females. Same logic for males. A robot suit can be unisex along with many other things. Since they're making the bunny suit for men I home its a "male version" and not the net spandex female version. Though most likely they will go into the sexual objectification version just like both genders in this game.
I'd like to point out that the person you quoted was complaining more on the fact that there is NO MALE EQUIVALENT. Not advocating specifically for the dress, but to have a male outfit in a similar vein.
And really, I would prefer gear being made unisex to getting even more gear that I can't even hold onto. I'd happily enjoy less NEW stuff for more unisex stuff.
Uh, I specifically mentioned being able to wear a miniskirt. I don't really see how you got that I was talking about male equivalents.
More to the point, we're already wearing dresses. Nobody can say with a straight face that the esoteric AST gear had the male form in mind. It's not the only one of its kind either.
He didn't quote YOUR post though, basketofseals. I was pointing out the person only said this:
I'm all for complete unisex and letting men outright wear dresses, but there is a vocal group that is against it utterly ;-; At least if males have actual genderlocked gear for equivalence that's something. I'd prefer more development time on making old gear more versatile and glamorable by all than making tonnes off new gear that we don't have the space to hold.
I think she was talking about me lol. I was the original person LalafellDown quoted. And if that was the case, she would be correct on my reasoning for posting.
Yoshi stated that there will be a PotD-related thing added. But he did NOT mention there being a male equivalent. He specifically said there wasn't one. Which is bad. The point wasn't about men wearing dresses it was about catering to females only again.
And he hasnt said anything about a male equivalent so I have reason to ponder the possibility of yet another exclusive thing for female without males thought of.
As Laerune said, "One step forward, two steps back"
So when exactly did Yoshida mention that Edda's dress was gonna be a PoTD reward? The gender lock has me convinced that its gonna be yet another MogStation product (since the costumes already there are also gender locked)
