Rant I've held in for awhile (Dying right before bosses die= no exp

Quite a few dungeons are guilty of this. I have leveled almost all the classes through these so I know it's happened often...sometimes you just die and everytime I've not been raised before it dies this happens, but the two that stand out the most is Cutter's Cry and Gubal Library, if you die on say the last boss and do not get raised before the boss dies you get no exp credit for the last boss, Who thought this was a good idea? It seems pretty stupid tbh.

And what is to prevent people from grieving and not accepting raises just to get an easy win? And the group can't kick during a fight.

No, it needs to stay the way it is, it sucks sometimes but that last fight in Gubal has very little unavoidable damage, so not much of an excuse for dying if you followed mechanics.

I believe all Final Fantasies have had zero experienced earned if the character is dead at the conclusion of the battle.

Do you honestly think this would be any noteworthy issue?

Consider, you already get roulette credit when you're dead on the final boss (or all bosses at that). You get the credit for the MSQ and challenge log. You get loot rights (even if you get locked out). Even in trial roulette where there is only that one boss. Do you seriously want to imply that giving those XP would make any significant change?

Moreover, if you argue abuse, what's to prevent a tank/healer premade to just let the DPS die, not ress them and finish the boss on their own? No, I don't think that's a good argument.

Exp reward for finishing a duty is not the same as exp from killing an enemy.
That is like demanding roulette exp even after a kick.

In the roulette the exp is for clearing the dungeon, not for killing the boss. In duties, where it get specielly mentioned that you have to kill the boss (like GC hunting log or Zodiac books), you also don't get the reward if you are dead the moment the boss die.

Well to be fair you get experience in fates for example if in a group for enemies you don't kill and that even includes things like hunt log kills. The issue isn't a big one for me personally. I know it was more of an issue and I didn't really have a problem with it given I died but one wouldn't get a relic drop for example if you died at the last boss. Seems killing it was part of the requirement for actually getting the reward.

Simple solution, avoid the aoe damage and do the mechanics correctly then you won't die.

Cutter's Cry and Gubal Library there is very little unavoidable damage, if you avoid the rams blue and violet damage correctly and avoid the aoes and do the bombs correctly in Gubal Library you won't die.

You should not get exp if you are dead when the boss dies.

Except only the two dungeons I listed do this, no point for it to be like that.

Except people don't do them correctly and get others killed, this stuff happens ya know.

i have not tried this with exp, but for the atma books back then in 2.2 i got no credit from dying at last boss. so i had to do the whole dungeon again. but i got credit when i returned to the entrance before my party finished off the boss. i was alive, at the entrance of the dungeon, and got my credit for the atma weapon

I've never been bothered by the loss of the boss kill XP (which really isn't much better than a standard trash mob's kill XP, and except for trials you'll generally have gotten plenty of them by the time you reach the boss).

Where it does bother me is on relic books where the entire reward for the dungeon rests on being alive when the final boss dies. Doing an entire dungeon, only to get nothing at all to show for it because you died in the last few seconds is probably the most frustrating thing I've seen in this game.

Thanks. Good to know. I'd thought I needed to still be there in the boss room, so didn't return to the entrance. (Well, one of the times it happened was was literally in the last couple seconds of the fight, so I doubt I'd have even had time to return. But it happened another time when I could have if I'd realized that would work.)

yeah, i was in aurum vale, the other people were running around and eating ALL the fruits, i had lots of stacks and died 2 seconds before they killed the boss...
