Suggestion: Wing mount

I still don't understand why this hasn't been done. All we'd need is a mount that shows up on our backs, levitates off the ground, and has flying animations for HW areas. They could have so many different kinds, from angelic, demonic, mechanical, elemental, magical, city state origin, and etc. they could even make an exclusive wing dungeon, allowing us to float, and navigate through an airspace of flying monsters. Obviously due to limitations, such dungeons would likely have to have a map, and some form of boundaries. You'd simply hover over an invisable floor space that has moving scenery below it, and fighting with wings on would only be allowed to be used in the said dungeon. Floating in the middle of a canyon, some kind of magical tunnel, and magical transparent walls in the clouds, or space all come to mind for dungeon ideas. Levitation themed mounts would also work.

But how would it work in non HW areas where we don't fly? We'd be moving pretty slowly compared to the HW areas.

To me, it wouldn't feel right in the current gameplay. Plus, non HW zones, it would be weird to see wings but you can't fly.

I guess I've played way too many sub par free MMOs who slap wings on the back of their characters to really appreciate the idea.

We got a flying broom, a flying cloud and even flying fat chocobos already. Just saying ^^

I would love to have some wings and/or magitek jetpack as a mount (Need it!!!). I guess it wouldnt be that hard to implement ^^.

Let me emphasize that if wing mounts were a thing, on the ground you would hover. I.e look at the succubus monsters movements. It is possible. :3

I wouldn't mind some bat wings. I was actually thinking of maybe SE creating a winged race. They would hover or walk (their choice) and once in HW, they would learn to master their wings and fly high. Mounts wouldn't be needed for them of course, but then again, mounts is just another type of vanity item. They would use them if they feel like it. I don't know. Just coming up with some weird stuff.

Wings would be awsome, I vote YES for his suggestion.

If they are wings made out of aether disappearing when you're on land, kinda like Kirin wings, sure.
If they are actual "flesh" wings from whatever flying insect or animal, no. Leave those for a potential future race with built in flight.

Only if we can pvp mid flight kappa

Mechanical or aetherial wings could be loosely explained away in the lore. Actual real organic wings though? We're not mutants or weird monster hybrids undergoing genetic modification... It would make absolutely zero sense and there would be no reasonable way to explain it.

Just search for wings n the thread finder. This same debate has come up multiple times with the majority saying "no wings!" We've even put it to the polls before with a fairly decisive stance on the no wing amount. I'd probably say, that's why

Yup, if you'r in need of wings, Aion is the best you can get, but not on FFXIV please.

You may ask for little wings on chest armor since it alrdy exist, but wings to fly by your own and being larger than 3x male roa, it look silly.

It doesn't sit well with me in FF lore. It seems that it's a power that should be restricted to an Eikon/Primal/Jenova etc, or to someone corrupted by them.

I'm only saying no because we don't even have proper textures for the ground...so imagine how wings would look lol.

Plus xiv has a habit of making awkward positions when we're on mounts. How will we fly?

Well why do Pegasus' gallop while flying? Anyway I would love Au Ra to be able to grow this, then we'll just need to breath fire to complete the dragon humanoid look( I know we're not dragons but still, be fun :) )

Only if it's a two-person mount; you can only use it if you have two people who both have it unlocked.

It would be fine. I would never use them excet when I'm in a goofy mood (ie when i drink while playing). But sure why not? Can I have red ones?
