I'm trying to make sense of what you have posted, and this is the closest thing that I can come up with.
"I thought I didn't want this race in XIV.
But now my opinion has changed. I would be very interested to see it in game."
Chances are, they scrapped any chance for it to come to XIV.

Well, we don't know. Yoshi-P vetoed them hitting Heavensward as he wanted something different verses a second "pretty people with animal ears."
The thing is all sides of Final Fantasy fandom have been asking for a Viera race in their MMO since Viera became a thing. In every language, even. They are plenty popular enough to justify it, but Yoshi-P's own concerns of them being Elezan, only with rabbit ears, as a poor edition can also be justified.
I'm pretty sure we'll find out about 4.0's new race (if any) very soon with 3.4 shifting the story to the expansion, and Fanfest being a few weeks after.
I'm pro-Viera myself, as I love animal races, but I'm not a huge cat person. Plus, Viera are fierce by nature. That kind of character is right up my alley.
I hold the firm belief that we, at present, do not need any new playable races added to the game at any point in the immediate future. Instead some love should be given to the current batch of existing playable races - addressing some of the more dire clipping issues and the disproportionate lack in variety that some race/gender combinations are afflicted by. We need Highlander men to be given some more classically handsome facial features and real eyebrows for example. I'm aware that the lore reason is that they 'shave them off to be intimidating and remember Ala Mhigo' but...not every Highlander is from Ala Mhigo and the women don't conform to such a thing anyway...
I'm rambling but still - that's how I feel and I doubt that I'm alone.
I think he means he likes the Viera race and wanted to be implemented in game.
I agree it's fabulous! Bring at least Fran!
Expanded character customization would certainly be appreciated, however to deny the fact that those animal/ human like hybrids are not popular is just wrong. People who enjoy this series simply adhere to a different train of thought, one which enjoys cute/ attractive aesthetics. While far from conclusive, one need only look to the show your race threads to see what holds the majority interest.
(as of 09/13/16, 03:06)
Hyur- 162
Elezen- 99
Au ra-353
Miqo 'te- 645
Lalafell- 123
Roe- 366 (left off by mistake)
(once more, this is far from conclusive, however take into account the official census counts hyur bot gil ad spammers...)
No Roegadyn?366!? Oh... that's just the Roegadyn thread. For a moment there, I thought you were talking about the census (which only records up to who has finished the 3.3 story)~
I still stand by my opinion that Viera should never be in this game. When compared to other races in this game, they're not very interesting and do not add any variety of race options (and females will naturally be popular. Because SE will most likely give them the option of being cute, petite and/or waifish).
Why does everyone want new races? What's wrong with the six we have???
Aside from Lalafell and Roegadyn and female Elezen, most of them look way to similiar to each other.
1. Male Au Ra and Elezen look alike.
2. Female Hyur, Au Ra and Miqote are almost clones of each other.
I can understand why people (especially those that play female avatar) want to have different race that does not look like the current ones. The Viera only shares one thing with female Elezen, they are tall. Personaly, I want a full beastman type of race like the Charr from Guild Wars 2.
Yoshida did not want to add the Viera, because its a race with animal ears, yet for some bizarre reason he thought adding a clone of a female Hyur or Miqote with horns and scales is very different...
Pretty lizard people were their original idea. Au Ra isn't a rehash of an old FF race. It also fit with the dragon themed story of HW to have dragonlike people. They decided became less dragonlike as the designs were developed, however.
And, good gracious, Au Ra men are everywhere!
From the art shown at last round of fanfests, a werewolf race was tossed around, too.
Just the females have the possibility of looking like a clone of Miqo'te and Hyurs. The males are somewhat sort of unique (dem birthing hips). In that old poll back in 2012 where "Viera" were the most wanted, Yoshi-P noted that "cute" is apparently very popular and would look into it. Cute petite waifish monster girl is the end result and I can only imagine/fear this will be the norm for any future playable race (while the non-playable races will be more interesting).
Well...I could name a few things.
Such as that Roegadyn are being muscular Hyurs with bad skin condition, Hyurs being Hyurs, Highlanders being muscular Hyurs, Miqo'te and Au Ra being cosplaying Hyurs and Lalafell being Hyur babbies with odd ears (visually).
I'd consider a unique race a more than welcome addition. I just realize that's unlikely to happen and we're more likely to just get 25 more flavors of "cute" in the character editor >_>
22 expansions into things, looking at a 23rd later this year, and Everquest has only added Iksar, Vah Shir, Drakkin and Frogloks as playable races. They have also only ever added two classes (Beastlord and Berserker) and permitted a few additional race/class combinations not originally possible (Gnome Shadow Knight, Gnome Paladin, Halfling Paladin, Halfling Ranger to name a few).
Adding new races or new classes/jobs with each expansion is not the standard practice. It takes an awful lot of work to fit new classes/jobs into the existing power structure without getting the balance of power too far out of whack. It is much easier to permit old races to take on new jobs, because that does not affect the balance of power between the various jobs. FF14 already allows every race to be every job as it is, so they cannot even permit new race/job combinations without introducing a new race or new job.
I've been hoping for Vieras, myself! I love them and I'm especially curious about the males. Getting new races is always exciting, as they come with new possibilities for character creation (and emotes). I certainly will never say no to more diversity, haha.
However, I'd be fine if they ended up releasing any other race that I personally don't like (if a new race is released at all).
^^^^about races looking alike
literally elezan=stretched out hyur, roe=bulky hyur, lalafell=tiny hyur, BOTH miqo & au ra=hyur with animal traits (furry/scaly bits)
tbqh if they add viera w the weird feet they'd be the most unique models & would add something that doesn't exist in -any- of the models. feet that aren't human. lol.
so...how they'd be too much like hyur..well.......everything is like a hyur, w modifications. so. that argument is silly.
Why? Cause Everquest doesn't do it? Well how about TERA online releasing 4 classes as patch content in five years? Or Warlords of Draenor being the only WoW expansion not to give a new race, a new class, or both. And all proper expansions beside Chains of Promathia gave FFXI new jobs.
Yeah I think it really Is the norm.
Thing is, I like having new things to try. And I am always drawn to the most exotic(weird) class/race combinations. So if we get a race that is not like the ones we have now, I'm going to get a fantasia. or at the very least create an alt.
I would rather see an "ugly" race like a Bangaa or a FF4 Dwarf race. Hell even a artificil/mech race like they had for the Mime in FF Dimensions.
I think we should hope and ask for it all eventually, why not! :)
1. many more customizations on current characters, would nice to have many more face choices, weight choices, more noticeable height adjustments, hairstyles of course, tattoos, ability to wear eye shadow and blush (sheesh) etc
2. a very small cute race BUT one that is proportioned properly unlike lalas...(no more saggy diaper cowboy walks and bowling pin shapes..heh ..I have a lala too!!, but their shape makes me cringe)
3. might as well throw a real horrid looking race in too for those that like that sort of stuff, the more people pleased, the better!
4. the Viera look cool and could be a nice addition as well
its all good.
Viera again?
with ffxii coming with with second version we might see a race
My preference is just more customization given to the races we have.
And if we have to have a new race NOT Viera. There's enough anthro-pets in this game already. Furthermore, they're not going to give them a unique model for their feet armor on all the gear, so they will have flat feet, which is one of their more defining characteristics. They'll just look like Elezen with bunny ears. It'll be lame. Trust me, we don't really want this.
I do kind of want a new race, but I don't really know what we could have that would distinguish them over what we already have. I personally would prefer a race that looked more "anthro" than human, like the beastmen tribes, but then that entire concept conflicts with the narrative of the story of the game (all of the playable races collectively being referred to as "man" as in mankind).
Personally I would love to see viera added to the game but I would also like to see new things for curent races and posable new tribes of existing races like new face options aditional sliders to custamise more fetures on your charicter
any new tall & appealing race that would bring people away from miqote I would very much welcome it<3. Femroes look awesome nobody plays them, elezenettes look amazing nobody plays them, and when you are playing as a Elezen on a server thats 95% miqote things are rather bland and you feel out of place playing as any tall race surrounded by short auri and miqote.
why does noone like playing tall races ಠ_ಠ
I agree with a few posters in here that I would rather see the current races Character Customization expanded.
Add some new faces for each race/gender (we only have 4 faces discluding midlanders who for some reason get 5)
New facial feature options, body tattoos/scars, mixed races (they don't have to be freakishly mixed btw), etc...
But sadly chances are we will get something like Viera, because SE is money hungry & they know people will pay for Fantasia's just to change to one.
So don't worry people who want Viera, it'll be yours for a price you'll be more then willing to pay, along with Fran's hair and outfit for the low price of $15-$20 per character!! -_-
I dont get why people think its easy to add a new race. Wow can do it because gear (except hats, shouldergards and belt buckles) is litteraly i texture slapped on the character model. In ffxiv they would have to remodel every single piece of armor for it to work. That much work leads to shortcuts (miqote tails and au ra horns) which you all are going to complain about and want fixed.
Besides, a new race doesnt really make sense lorewise. The au ra were a stretch and still feel distant from the rest of the races.
I dont think it would be feasible to add a new race. Id rather have more interesting armor and foes to fight.
Indeed - if and when the above happens, maybe in the subsequent expansion to the one coming, I'd see a place for a new race, which may be Viera... or something else. I'm not opposed to Viera, on the condition that they're not all female and that the males aren't cutesy but are implemented in line with the concept art previously shown.
"I would love for them to add a beast race that isn't half human"
They already stated anything they would add would be humanoid because of the development time to make gear fit on the different races.
I myself do want Viera, they have been my favorite race since Final Fantasy tactics and XII. Their lore is awesome.
