Beastmaster idea (nothing original :D)

These ideas are nothing original. I though it would just be cool to create this image to show the possibilities of the Beastmaster in FFXIV. This is just my opinion & ideas, is there anything you would like to see?

-Weapon: Ax/shield
-Capture: In order to capture/use certain beasts you have 1) obtain a certain lvl
2) reduce their hp (similar to the moonfire faire event with the bombs & yes pokemon >.>)
- Similar to HW: all abilities are obtained from 30 below when unlocking job.
- Obtain the beasts: Use a crafted fruit/meal to pop a mob or go into a trial(might help the culinary/gatherers market :D)

Abilities
Scan: Scan the area for mobs. Can be great for hunts
Killer Instinct:Increases dmg by 10% to target/pet
Inner Beast: Increases attack speed by 10% to target/pet
Roar: Stuns Target
Legendary: acquired at lvl 60 these legendary pokemon, I mean...beasts can be captured/mounted.

I think the amount of outrage behind BST and the Legendary ability that you suggest would be monstrous (lol). SMN QQ about the Egi's being a pos by comparison, at least by looks, and the unfair nature of having cool mounts. Yeah, they could level the job, but since when did that matter to anyone illogical? For as neat of an idea that BST could be, the other jobs are just... bland lol.

im confused, though your icons look really awesome, but how are you supposed to capture these enemies? just auto attack them to death?

Consumable Pet Food very likely will not happen for the same reason arrows were removed when they rebuilt the game. Besides Pup > Bst and Automatons are already a thing ;p

The food will only used to be to pop the beast initially, not to call them every time. Also with smn was thinking about Egis, they can always add more possibly. Legendary would be awesome to have though.

I could see using certain and a select few minions (3-5) being used in the same way as the lord of vermillion works. It's a mechanic in place that should need few adjustments to work in PvE setting.

Like the DRK, MCH, AST jobs you have all the abilities from 30 down. So you can use another bst to fight and capture them. And not to death, you would have to decrease hp till they are weak, similar to pokemon style and the moonfire faire event where we had to capture a bomb.

Sad thing, Masekase_Hurricane might be right.
I personally would like them to learn how to deal with a pet class before they add new ones.

theyre also functional in the first few dungeons all the way up... just find it interesting you give it no basic attacks besides poison, unless the idea is to place the beast master and have it auto attack for 20 percent of the damage, while you move the beast around? like the exact oppositte of smn?

EDIT: oh i see you got a vulture you can use, you really want to be relegated to using the pet hotbar and a few buffs?

If we ever get another pet class, if ever, i think yoshida said we were done with them with SMN/SCH.

I think we will keep the same concept as before, melee, tank and caster... Which in this case will be Ranged for physical damage. They will have 4 skills and that would be it. So, kinda underwhelming. Adding several diferent pets and 4 diferent skills for each would make the class way too much to develop, and for SE working on a budget and being know to want to simplify stuff from now on, that won`t ever happen.

I don't know if they would let us choose pets if they added Beastmaster. SE thus far has shown us they prefer every Job they add to be extremely structured with absolutely no customization aside from visuals. Hence, if we actually did get a beastmaster class I have this growing suspicion it wouldn't tame beasts so much as some kind feral spirit beast kind of creatures with it's attacks.

Now if they DID add it as an actual pet class, for one it would probably have the type of creature we use already selected from the beginning, secondly I'd want all of the oGCD abilities by the class to be done by the pet to emphasize the concept of the two working together as a pair to inflict damage. Also, before someone says "well what if the pet dies? The class loses it's effectiveness." That's absolutely true and a perfectly acceptable weakness. If you're going to be a Beastmaster, you should absolutely care about your pet and it's wellbeing and managing it's HP and keeping it alive should be part of the gameplay, not a reason to not have a pet reliant class at all.

Yep why not similar to SMN early on

Honestly the more I hear about Beastmaster, I think were more likely to get a "Minionmaster" battle class. Least with several minions to pick from they could easily be glamoured onto different "roles" for each one (Tank, melee and ranged dps)

I wouldn't mind it actually, but even better, how about raid bosses as legendary's. Catching the Pheonix as a monster to use in battle. Maybe adding some sort of limiter for certain captured monsters. Like one monster will be your main choice for constant actions, one for heavy attacks most likely on cool down, and one like the Pheonix that's your extremely heavy attack that's on a really long cooldown or special proc (maybe a limit break).

The more I think of it I feel like BST might be best used as a tank role. Splitting damage between you and your pet could be the gimmick behind the class. With regards to getting beasts, make an ability like "Tame" that does some decent damage but has an added effect of "taming" a beast under 20% hp.

Only issue is your then making the beast master have more variety in the pets. They will either end up as copy cats of each other in the end (Same stats, same attacks just different look) or your only "taming" will be done in the form of a level 30 quest in which you tame the already pre-set monster your Job Master has picked for you. Don't get me wrong, they may very well allow us to pick our own mob but I don't expect for them to let us. Granted I wouldn't mind if they let us customize its looks in a way like we do, perhaps a pet fantasia being a craft item from Alch but eh.

Story wise, capture a young one or find an egg? > incubate > "its maturing/hatching" >Pet customization screen > Your new pet
