Please reconsider implementing a dungeon finding tool. It cripples communities and gives no reason for exploration. We will find the majority of the player base sitting in the towns queuing for dungeons and that's it. Just take a gander at what majority of players do at max level in Rift and WoW. I know because i have been there in both games. Why make such a beautiful game basically lobby based. The reason i play and love FFXIV is because its unique to today's mainstream standards of a mmorpg.
But this is me saying if you do decide to put in such a horrible system you will not have my support.

Can you really sit there and tell me that dungeon finding tools are good for communities? How about hoping onto your chocobo and running to dungeons/popular farm spots/beastmen camps. Seeing if current parties have any room get to know the people that are active on your server and making new friendships. Isn't that what made us fall in love with MMORPG's to begin with. How are you going to keep friendships in game when the people you get grouped with are cross servers. Correct me if i am wrong but they did say it would be cross server no? And let me ask you have you done dungeon finder in WoW recently? People rarely talk in them let alone everyone is from a different server. Most of my parties i have been in FFXIV have been in the open world. I don't even recall joining a party formed with in city walls.

I have to agree with the OP in WoW i want to keep playing with friend i meet in dungeon finder but they not in the same world so we have to make a char on there world which is not bad because you know it's wow but this is not wow. I can't make other char just to level up with them i have thing to do within my own char.
Why can't dungeon finder be just for your world? not other worlds i think that better then allow us to party with other worlds. -

the intention is a little different in that, he implied there will be a lot more cross server activity, so it wont just be a dude you can never see again, it will actually be a dude you can do multiple things with.
Of course at this point its only his plans, we dont know if he can really build that type of archtechture.

why not IMPROVE previous areas with new features?
this way we have both.
(Aka a world system that encourages playing outside of dungeons, but leaving dungeons as an option to those with less time to play.) -

A dungeon finder would make it a lot easier to get content done, but I have to agree with the OP here, it cripples the community. Worst part is making friends cross servers, that's pretty much a slap in the face from SE.

The message system of XI was one of my favorites. this way if they are on another server, character, or even on tetra master, u could talk to them.
even people who couldn't pay for their accounts.
and if u arnt on, and they have something to tell u, they can leave a message for when u get back. -

I think we're all over-reacting here. Did he say you will have to search cross server for an exp party? (which is way better than grinding in an instance?) No. Did he say you will search cross server for endgame content? I don't think so.
If you want to play with your friends and make new ones, it's not like you arent going to able to. You'll just have the option to quickly queue for something. If you really think that decreasing wait times in this game is a bad thing than you are crazy. -

They could remedy this by letting you add people from different servers to your friendlist. That way, you can chat with them and find them easily for more group content.
I like doing stuff with my ls mates, but sometimes there's not enough people on to do group content, so this dungeon finder would help a lot at those times. -

Nothing can ruin community except player attitude. Especially in a game that no one even talks in public chat, i have never seen such a quiet game in my life, believe me, the "community" with pretty much ls only line of thinking has already began to "destroy" the feel of ff.
dungeon finder in no way can destroy anything. it may open up alot of opportunities to more people who happen to be in very small ls.(yup those ppl are just as important to the game, sorry but they are) ^^ and for those in a huge ls, dont use this feature /solved, so why even be concerned.
i see no harm in it. use it and love it or choose not to, take the 2 min run to a dungeon with your friends only if you prefer. either is a win depending on your playstyle or preferances. choice is always there. -

I do with people all the time. Made a few friends here and there and some are now in my LS. Now there are times when things are a bit quieter but that's what happens in a game lol everyone can't play all the time so there will be lulls. :)Quote:

That's kinda wild and something worth trying out but I wouldn't put my hope in dungeon-finder. Yes, I agree, it discourages exploration and the use of communication with other players. Anything that make it easy for a player to solo should be abolished because it's anti-MMORPG. Once people start soloing and doing their own thing the way THEY WANT FOR THEMSELVES without effort or sense of accomplishment (kinda taking the easy route) then they're just playing a regular Final Fantasy game (offline).
SE should just make a offline version for those types and we can continue with ours. Continue the fight for freedom! -

(However we should be realistic, if someone decides its ok to be a jerk just because they don't know the people, then they are a jerk to begin with. You'll still deal with occasional jerks in any pick-up party. Its unavoidable.)
Final Fantasy has always been about the adventure of meeting new people and grouping up to fight a common foe.. doing your part as the role you can play in that endeavor. So what if some of the people we meet aren't natively from our server?
Why is it considered required dues to sit in town, or at the dungeon's mouth shouting for hours and loitering about hoping that someone who would agree to join your cause might happen to walk by and hear you. Yay you have a duo, now rinse/lather/repeat for the remaining members?
Personally I'd rather spend the time actually playing than trying to put together a party that doesn't happen because either no one else is up for it right now, or wants to do that content because they've already done it. I guess I'm a little different, having the opportunity to do the content quicker isn't going to make me not help a LS member or even the random Joe that is out shouting for help. It doesn't have to ruin the community, our attitude totally decides that ourselves. -

Sure, it's incredibly convenient, but most parties have little to no communication going on, it has this whole "autistic" vibe to it. You can type something in chat and no one will respond. Not all parties are like that, but a lot are, it basically makes you feel like you're just going through the motions: Log in, Queue up dungeon, Max out valor points, meet for raids, log out. The sense of adventure is completely lost. If they can keep the sense of fun, adventure, exploration in the game while adding the convenience of a dungeon finder system then I'm all for it, but if I'm sitting in town waiting for my queue to pop and just going through the motions then I just wouldn't bother playing anymore.Quote:
