90ks and ridiculous lag

This game was perfect for me for about 2 weeks. no lag, no 90ks. no nothing. Til a few days ago. Wtfh is up with that? Why can't we ever have consistency? Why can't this game ever run smoothly? It needs to be fixed. It needs to be somewhat permanently fixed. This is insane. It's like SE is just allowing me to be blissfully happy, then take it away. Just like that. <.< It's getting old. lol

Myself, I have a Network on good days that can maintain connections for Netflix/Hulu while running XI on my laptop and playing XIV on my PS4 while also voice chatting with people, and other days can run XIV on my PS4 and then crash the whole network if my laptop turns on when it doesn't like. ISPs play a big part in your ability to maintain a connection, I would also look into making sure your Router and Modem, if you use one or both, are up to date. Routers and the like usually auto-update, which is why it's alright to leave them on 24/7 in some capacity, but if they get outdated hardware wise they can affect your connection speeds and data transfer rates. It isn't always SE's fault ha. Check all of that if you can to determine what the sudden connection issues could have came from.

Just today I have started experiencing the major lag... i hope they can fix it, its never happened to me before

Started having this problem as well. The game is currently unplayable thanks to lags and disconnects...

A few of my raid members have been having problems as well. I wonder if its server based since my raid members have ultra crazy speed internet, yet i have junky slow internet and i haven't lagged. Whichever it is, it is annoying and breaking our raiding fun.

I've been having this same issue all day, even to the point that I got DC'd mid dungeon run. Running dungeons, crafting, even talking to an NPC. Never have I experienced the amount of lag that I'm receiving from the game today. I know it's not my network/ISP. My ping is doing just fine.

Hands up who's with Comcast?

Long loading times is most likely your HDD

Comcast for me, lag today.

Actually it isn't due to my HDD or my ISP. On every game I play, I literally have NO lag whatsoever on them. But on FFXIV, I have the lag. And during those 2 weeks of perfect gaming, there was no major loading issues at all. I even called my ISP as well, to see if there was anything wrong. But, they said there wasn't. That everything is working great, which I believe them. Considering, I don't have any of these stupid problems on any of the other games I play. FFXI - no loading issues, no lag. GW2 - no loading issues, no lag. I even played WoW again to see if anything else effected it. Again, no loading issues, no lag. It is ONLY for FFXIV.

All of these problems are continuous, that needs to be fixed. SE needs to stop adding in content, or making updates. And fix the problems that is current. Then go ahead and add more things to the game, but monitor the lag/loading issues.

Just tonight I have 90k'ed 10+ times. It's f'ed up and ridiculous. Plus, the lag hasn't let up at all.

ISP-Time Warner Cable (TWC)

The fact that FFXIV is the only game that lags doesn't mean that SE has in some way singled you out with extreme latency. It just means that the network path between you and their datacenter probably isn't great. These are things that can change over time, too, as the carrier infrastructure changes every now and then. Considering how many players are able to play just fine at all times, bashing SE for this is passing quick judgment.

Do a traceroute to your particular game server's IP and see where along the route the greatest jump in latency is. That'll tell everyone a lot more about the problem.

And yes, loading times between zones is a mostly local-data thing and shouldn't need much network traffic - if the game isn't on an SSD and you load into a big zone, it will take time.

EDIT: Also, when my girlfriend had 90002 problems a while back it turned out to be that our shitty ISP-supplied router couldn't cope with high traffic volume on wired and WiFi at the same time. After we both started using wired connections instead of one wired and one wireless, the 90002s stopped completely. Less likely in your case since other games work fine, but I thought I'd point it out.

Playing Weeping City twice with extreme lag (one run in morning, one in evening) through the entire thing was so painful. Lost connection at least 2 times during the run and it was riddled with constant 20 second lag spikes that were endless. You can't even quit either (I wasn't lagging when I ran lvl 60/expert routlette) because then you'd get the penalty.

I had the 90002 disconnect last weekend after no trouble since I started playing. It cleared up during the week and started again this morning.

Lag. Lag. Lag.

For the last few days I've been getting lag spikes on and off, which is especially noticeable during instances. It's... getting really old.
