Best way to farm mounts? (birds/ponies etc..)

So I joined this party where the leader of the party gave numbers to all players (biased on who joined first) and then he said each mount drop will be give to players in order

1) player 1
2) player 2
3) player 3
etc..

So if player 1 got his mount and left the party, and another player joins. That player will be placed at the end of the list as number 8 to get his mount. Player 2 will be the 2nd to get his mount and so on.

I have entered a cycle for 5 hours because people kept taking their mounts and leaving. Until I joined this guys party and i was player 4. All I did was wait for my turn, took my bird and stayed for few more runs then left. (lead kept getting passed among players)

Somewhat it is fair that these players that joined first wont have their mount taken by someone who joined their party after another player has left. But then again it takes away the freedom of players to roll and being able to get the mount on their first roll if they were lucky.

There are groups that keep farming until the whole party has a mount. Free rolls until you win and then you simply pass once you have a mount.

The only real issue I guess could be you might have to wait a while for the 8th person to join, as they know they're in for a long wait before their time rolls round.

But as with all pf, you set whatever rules you like, people either join if they are prepared to accept those rules, or they don't.

When I farm for the mounts, most groups I join are usually the ones that say "Free Roll and please stay until everyone has their ponies" and it seems to work well usually. I tend to stay after I get mine to help the others because when I first started farming, I was always the last one to get a pony, and by that point, everyone was like "Yeah I'm tired now bye guys" or just left instantly after getting theirs.

If you have FC mates or other in game friends willing to help you out, that's always good too. I have one that tends to join me even though he has the ponies. He just works on tanking achievements instead. Having friends to farm with helps tremendously since they won't just take a whistle and bounce.

Yeah, finding groups like that via PF (and all 8 members commit) are as rare as winning the coffin lid pre-Weeping City.

Little bonus layer of more RNG on top of the drop % and winning the roll are finding people decent enough to help the rest once they win their mount instead of making up a convenient reason to leave.

The small FFXIV collectors edition notebook? I have a nice little page dedicated to people who dip out once they get theirs. Won't catch me helping/farming anything with them.

The only way I was able to reliably get the Primal horse mounts (I managed to get Garuda's horse on my 399th run... Nightmare on my 400th of Garuda Ex) - Ifrit, Titan, Ramuh, Leviathan and Shiva - was forming my own party in PF with the comment "Farm pt, Horse drop = Lootmaster rule in order of join. Everything else, FFA. Multiple Runs please stay after drop". I'd make a list of the people who join, in order of when they joined and off we go. It worked very well and people in my runs always got their horse and some primal weapons. Of course it only really worked well since we have Unsynced parties for the first 5 primals obviously.

Yeah, I had some rage at me for using the Lootmaster and demand I make it FFA as other parties do, but at the end of the day they got their horses. Those who didn't like the setup, were free to leave.

After a very very bad run of RNG. Whenever I set up a party for ARR extreme farming, I make it lootmaster with it being first come first serve. How bad of RNG you ask? multiple times I have lost with a 98 because someone has managed that chance of a 99. After a good many times of that happening and the party disbanding soon after, you get a tad fed up. Granted for HW extremes it's still FFA but I ensure people know exactly what the loot rule is. Haven't gotten any real complainers yet, even on Balmung(even when farming coils for orchestrion rolls)

Amusingly enough, the only complainer I got was when I wasn't the host of the farm party and I got the roll on my turn. The one guy that wanted it to be FFA threw a massive hissy fit that he had to wait even longer for his roll when he was right after me for it. On Discord to boot. Glad I had my headphones in otherwise my college classmates who were watching the farm would've gotten quite a laugh out of his antics.

Get 7 Friends that are elite ... and already have them to help you. BEST WAY... NOT THE EASIEST THING TO DO...

FC \o/ Thats how I got mine, we all help each other get our ponies and birds. Members who even have there pony/bird still help out as that is the type of FC I have.

Or if you are crafter and have a lot of money then set PF "Need Mount and gonna pay 100k per head".
you'll get your mount in 24 hours.

Sounds like a good system to me. My luck is so trash that I rolled 97 on Bis bird and someone rolled 98... Still don't have that bird.
