But...they would still sell out. Until the reclamation timer starts again it would solve nothing. Once bought there is zero incentive to not just leave it idle. I feel for those that missed out especially on servers like yours (didn't have a snowballs chance) but more wards, unless it was an ongoing thing, will not solve the problem.

I concur, it's not just your server though. However, I agree with OliviaJ as well. Until they change certain things it's always going to be an ongoing problem. The mmo I came from had unlimited housing, but did have many issues in other areas so I never have understood the issue with this game I'm not a tech but something just is not right.
In 3.4 they are introducing apartments.

Apartments are 3.4, but (and I really hope I'm wrong) from what little we have heard they just sound like Free Company rooms, just not attached to a Free Company (Square Enix being the landlord in this case so you don't have to worry about a FC disbanding/kicking you out and losing the room without any warning and you can also then change FC whenever you want without losing it).
They need to stop people from buying multiple houses with alts. >:E
Apartments will be limited too. They will be resold just like houses. Good job SE.
Anyone to buy a instanced apartment like people do houses will just be

Reclamation timer won't solve much, either. The only thing that will fix supply problems is a rework of how the housing system is structured on a whole.
So many good housing systems out there - it's a shame SE can't seem to figure this out.
If this is true, it is quite possibly the most hilariously sad news I've heard about this game in a while.
Where did they say limited? I am sure I read that these would be unlimited instanced apartments.Quote:

This shouldn't even matter the system is already in place to stop characters being created if a server is too full. If there is not enough houses for the server then technically it is too full.
I personally wouldn't buy a house on an alt but some do. If they started limiting things on alts then what's the point of the standard plan?
Making that a rule for those that have already done it would be unfair to them though. Can't take away what someone has already bought. It would be a very sticky situation to implement that. What would need to happen to make that even feasible is to prevent future purchases by alts from happening and in the same breath letting alts use your main's.
From this thread:
"We'll be increasing the number of plots for existing housing areas in Patch 3.3. After we expand those areas, we'll add apartment-style housing in Ishgard areas afterwards, starting with one apartment-style building which will hold about 512 residences. We’re also planning to make chocobo stables available for use to residents of apartment-style housing. Gardening patches are still proving somewhat difficult, but we’re currently developing new “planter pots” that will allow gardening."
Yup, so depending on how many of these building's they do, it's still going to be a limited resource. I doubt there will be anything to prevent someone who already has a house from buying one, you might even be able to buy multiple rooms from the same building or different building. Thus creating the same problem we have now with houses.Quote:

As per demand, we are also looking into the prospect of increasing the number of indoor furnishings which can be placed in residences.
Last I checked my server had around 20k players, I highly doubt they will cater for everyone.
After apartments they will add slums for poeple who cant get/afford a house. Please look forward to it.
I really wish they would just making the housing wards cross realm. So the dead servers that still have plots available, People on high servers (such as myself being on Gilgamesh) would actually have a chance of getting one. However, they would need to make it so only one house per account. Cause i imagine people- sad as it is, would still buy up the houses just for a profit even though, there is others who would truly use them.
But i agree we do need more wards.and the other system needs to be turned back on.
I was looking back at old Yoshida interviews from e3 and he mentioned the possibility of adding more wards just for the high population worlds that need them. He also said no plans to restrict plots to one per account, to respect the efforts of people who worked hard to meet the requirements to own plots on multiple characters and use them for role-playing. But people buying multiple just to resell for profit would still be moderated case by case.
