What New Trials would you like to see after Warring Triads

We're currently down to 2 Warring triads as of 3.2, but I wonder what new trials will be after that, whether it would be 3.55 or next Expansion? What I wanna see are the Phantom Train(has been hinted in last year's Rising event), Kefka, and Omega (Though I think it might just turn into a raid in the future). TBH, Warring Triad storyline wouldn't be enough without Kefka, imo, as I loved battling him in FFVI. I would love to see another Odin Trial as well.

What new primals or nonprimal trials would you like to see after the Warring Triads?

Not a Primal fight, I'm sooo over Primals.... (and from what I understand, Yoshi-P is too). And Kefka just would not fit the game at all (the closest we would probably get would be Regula becoming infused with aether and going insane from it or something, like what happened already with Nael doing a Sephiroth impersonation in 1.0.).

Omega is pretty much written out of the storyline as it's not even shown (and where is apparently buried is under a PvP area completely inaccessible in the main game) so that doesn't count.

Although I admit Doomtrain would be an interesting fight (not Phantom Train, that is something completely different which is already in the game as... the name of the Garlean's secret military railway that runs between Castrum Centri and Castrum Meridanium). But that's because I love trains. ;)

Depending on if SE is doing 2 trials next patch (unlikely, even with a .55 patch) or decided to cover Sophia and Zurvan in the same trial (possible), I would also like to see a Kefkaesque trial.

in general. MOST of the Trials seem to either be the Primals or MSQ related so we might still see more Primals in future expansions, and possibly some Ascians as well. Garlean legati is also possible but that would depend on if the hypothetical Regula trial isn't an underwhelming fight like Cape Westwind.

Those three groups are the only major antagonists thus far (now that Nidhogg's gone). So chances are we will fight either them or some aetheric species that will drop rainbow colored mounts in Extreme trials :P

Something difficult, less scripted, requiring adaptation and personal responsibility but also giving the ability to cover for others if need be, and not merely set in a flat, obviously circular or rectangular arena. I'd like to be able to use the environment to some advantage, rather than just right-clicking on a cannon or such tool at some point. I don't really care against who. Would not be willing to rush in a boss idea that would have better fit a later expansion.

Doomtrain could be pretty great if done well. Preferably in a fitting expansion.

Didn't Yoshi-P mention a while back he is saving Doom Train for when the WoL begins moving towards the Garlean Empire.

I am guessing that is a hint that Doomtrain may be the WoL's access into the Garlean Empire expansion for a future *cough*5.0*cough* expansion similar to the Steps of Faith was for 3.0 expansion

I don't care what the new trials are so long as it no way involves "kill these adds in time or the boss one shots you with his ultimate." I am so over that mechanic at this point, you have no idea.

I;m a little curious. What ideas for mechanics could they put in place? A different type of DPS check? Removing Some debuff that turns on otherwise pitiful attack into the ultimate? Hiding in another part of the arena?

what if there was a mechanic where you had to change areas or you die? for example, rushing out of a room because the ceiling was about to collapse.

or maybe something where different parts of the map would start to crumble and it makes it so once you pass through it it falls down into the void.
using the terrain to change things up would work well i would think ^^

edit: i'm not sure if those types of mechanics are in anything atm, i completely forgot that the only fights that i haven't seen anything of are A1-8S, and a few of the minstral's ballad fights, i think ultima weapon and thordan i haven't seen from him that i know that exist ^^"

Removing a debuff that turns an otherwise pitiful attack into the ultimate would simply be a cleansable (possibly typal) vulnerability debuff, e.g. when demanding an Esuna or a tank-swap depending on timing and target. That mechanic we've seen before as well.

We've also already seen some run to an unlit square (T1) or run from patterned AoEs (T9) kinds of arena mechanics, though I wouldn't be opposed to seeing more if they could help create an impressive raid aesthetic.

As for different types of DPS checks, thus far all you have are hard and soft enrages overall (most), hard and soft enrages starting from a certain phase (T6), nukes based on remaining HP of adds or boss phase (A3S), hard and soft enrages based on adds (A4, A6S, etc.), adds that simply add raid damage taken and may or may not be ignored for a time (T4, A2), adds that synergize with the boss and may or may not be ignored for a time, and jails (Titan Ex, A3S). While that might sound exhaustive, that actually still leaves a fair bit, both mechanically and in impression.


Some DPS check mechanics not yet seen:

• Damaging something in order to generate a resource, defense, or healing. (Though both Levi and Ramuh have resources that damage against multiple adds help to retain for defense.)
• Adds that can have conditional or situational benefits to the raid for a time.
• Behavioral manipulation of mobs or bosses based on rate of damage dealt (rather than just %HP reduced total, creating %HP phases, which have still only been especially worth holding out for in T5, T6, and T7).

As for arena mechanics:

• Environmental factors both negative and positive, or either depending on the raid's current situation, to be utilized through positioning of both the raid and enemies, including the boss.
• Greater use of cover (the only real examples to come to mind right now are T7 and A6), perhaps in an environment where pillars and such normally line-of-sight breaking objects can be placed via player and enemy positioning.
• Manipulable enemy attacks (the ability to overcharge a core boss attack to throw off it's aim).

- Solving puzzles with the group
- Jump puzzels like what GW2 has.
