There needs to be gear requirements for Ranked PVP

It's stupid seeing people wearing 125 ilvl pieces in feast, people like that are guaranteed to lose you the game because they are just lacking the stats necessary to not only survive but actually kill. Each piece of gear someone is wearing should be required to be above 150, that isn't to much to ask for when you can literally buy such gear for cheap from random vendors or even the market board and also the fact that everyone's gear is synced all the way down to 150.

PVE already requires everyone to be at a certain level to play, and since PVP is synced down there should be a minimum required for EACH piece of gear as well especially when it is the LOWEST ilvl for lvl 60 gear.

Why are you always trying to ruin everyone's fun?

Why not just sync players stats like in Palace of the Dead, remove the iLvL restriction of 150 and be done...?

It's meant to be a competitive mode, so a level playing field should be a concern above all else.

Thing is, we're already synced down to 150 and materia is ignored. However if you have gear above 150, you will essentially be maxed out on your stats as if you had the best you could have of those stats at 150. Someone who is not actually at i150 or above would not have those stats, and thus be a liability to your team. And there's little excuse to not have proper gear by now if you're level 60, and thus, able to queue for the Feast.

And on the concept of fun, I wanna squash this argument once and for all: "I play for fun" is a weak argument that really holds no weight. EVERYONE plays for fun. However "playing for fun" is not an excuse not to properly prepare or put forth your best effort. Many people who get labeled "tryhards" or something equally asinine are playing to win. And winning is generally fun. So the idea of "I play for fun (therefore don't need to try my best or be serious)" is self-defeating and actually, NOT fun. Not for you, or the team you would inevitably drag down with that kind of thinking.

I've been suggesting this since before Palace of the Dead was a thing... AP should go as well, though then PvP level is completely redundant, but as it stands I'd say AP is more powerful than itemization... I would say Feasts Leaderboard and rating system is a much better form of PvP progression than an actual PvP level...

I think that's not 100% correct (like 90%).

From what I recall:
What the sync does is to cap each given stat at a certain value. Gear however tends to have dominant and subordinate (higher/lower) secondaries and the subordinate one is typically not at the item level cap, only the dominant one is - which is also why you cannot meld the dominant stat, but you can still meld the subordinate stat. For NQ gear, I think even the dominant and main stat (DEX, STR etc) are not on the iLvL cap.

What that means is that item level above 150 function like materia in PvP, as they still increase the subordinate stat (up until i190 HQ/Blue IIRC, where both secondaries are at the i150 cap). I wager that for PvP, a relic with 3 (or more) secondaries would be ideal, as you wouldn't actually lose secondary stats with the sync if you only increase them up to the i150 cap.

That said...my opinion on the whole thing remains above. I just wanted to clarify the whole gearing thing in PvP a little and hope I didn't get anything wrong :3

You're right. The term "ilvl150 sync" is a bit misleading. The short version is that i150 gear will only give you maxed out primary stats, i190 gear will give you maxed out primary and secondary stats.

This doesnt mean that anything below 190 is "bad". Like, for example, I think the fending necklace from gubal library, which is only i148, is quite good given that there arent any other det/crit/vit necks available.

Though I seriously doubt anyone has the ego to queue feast with a handicap, that sort of raises a good point. They're either boosting someone, dont know any better or dont care (just there for easy tomes or whatever). Adding a few ilvls to their gear isnt going to make one bit of difference. Ive only come across one person on aether wearing <150 gear, and gear was def not their primary issue.

Why not add a rank requirement? Having few, if any, attribute points is a far greater handicap than having -5 points of mind or whatever

the fact that it syncs to such a low and undesirable ilevel to begin with, i find gross. But sure for competitives sake make it 150. You know whats better than that i level? anything you get from neverreap. So dangerous

Because Feast is co-operative and ranked. One person can ruin the run for everyone else; one person might want a "stat handicap," but it's equally fair for three others to not want their rank dropped for something so silly.

Do that nonsense in a premade.

But they can argue that their i142 necklace isnt as bad as you breaking every cc or picking up 10 heavy medal stacks

You can't let them wear i150 NQ white gear. Had a healer in that once, they rocking a cool 1.4K lower health then the standard i150 sync'ed down.

I like the item sync just only because it gives the option of some itemization in XIV where there is mostly none otherwise. (Still using i180 Fending Earrings for example).

So if they did change the sync formula I'd like for that itemization capability to stay in place.

Maybe they should add craftable lvl 60 PVP gear that is only iLVL 140 or 150, with Morale giving the iLVL boost it needs to reach Frontline Caps. They had that somewhat for 2.x Frontlines.

But I suppose they see removing the PVP Rank restrictions of PVP gear as a reason to not require that tier of PVP gear anymore

They should just bring low gear up to the current level. You could still have some itemization, but I think the big picture is making equal footing for a competitive mode.
