Anyone disappointed with the PotD weapon?

I take it the PotD weapon is sort of a lazy mans relic, with further updates available as more floors come out?

Now, I love the system, I love the idea of aetherical weapons, but here is my issue.
When I saw them I thought my graphics cars was borked and wasn't displaying the textures. Turns out thats how they are meant to look.


Since constructive criticism demands suggestion of alternatives - what would you like to see?
Personally Id have liked the glowing light effects like we got on the relic but the actual weapon being invisible, rather than the texture being replaces with one colour?

Or even a ghost weapon, something see-through?

I am surprised they actually gave us a weapon at all. Have you noticed how hard it is to get any weapon past item level 210? As for the design, its very basic but its made of pure magic. Perhaps there will be better weapons in the future of the Palace that will be more detailed. I like only a few of the weapons in terms of the base shape myself.

My only qualm with the weapon is the silver chest nonsense. Picture this: You are in floor 49 and you get a silver chest that does not blow up and the neither the weapon nor armor improve and they are below +25. Why is that even a thing? If you are lucky enough to get a non-exploding silver chest in floor 49, shouldn't that be a 100% chance of getting a +1?

And on the topic of weapons:
Lore weapon is 3 weeks of tomes + those 7 gears which (if they haven't lifted the cap) means 7 weeks. Easy, but wow that is a lot of time for 1 weapon.

Any other weapons besides that? Sure, try the relic and I hope you have crafting people and a lot of time on your hands. If you have the time but no crafting friends, I hope you have several million for the market. Those who don't have the time will get their relics way later in the future when they matter very little if at all so...

Any other weapons? Yep, extreme primal fights. Now, did you get the weapon during the first 2 1/2 weeks of the fight dropping? No? Good luck with that then. Heck, good luck getting a clear if you are not in a high pop server.

See what I mean? Palace of the Dead weapon might be a tad dull and with little aesthetic detail and RNG hell for those with bad luck, but it is a good alternative for a weapon. Besides, there is still much of the Palace to come, better looking weapons could be part of the deal.

The BLM weapon has INT, VIT, determination, and crit, when I was hoping for more spell speed.

The SMN weapon has the exact same stats as the BLM weapon, with spell speed in place of crit. What does a SMN need spell speed for?!

All 3 healer weapons are identical in terms of stats, and completely lack PIE.

There is no skill speed for the MCH, NIN, and MNK weapons.

None of the weapons have ACC on them.

These weapons aren't a lazy or poor man's relic, these weapons are just trash. I don't even want to use any of them, and so the entire purpose of running PotD is completely defeated for me.

Isn't that, uh...good? Last I checked Skill Speed had the lowest stat weight for these jobs.

That's correct. MCH/NIN/MNK want Crit/Det, which these weapons provide.

The PLD sword is also Crit/Det which is much better than the parry Lore weapon, and better than the Horde Blade.

The SCH book having Crit/Det is actually really good since SCH doesn't have MP issues anyway (so PIE unnecessary) and the only other Crit SCH book is Midan (and relic), both of which take way more time and effort to get

The weapons for PLD, MNK, SCH, MCH and NIN are good weapons. You don't want SkS or PIE with that classes, check the statweights before you complain. As BLM, BRD, WHM, DRG and SMN you go Nidhogg EX and farm your weapons there. And if you are not completly lazy you just do the relic. Sorry but its so easy to get a real good weapon in this patch for almost 0 effort.

Right now if I "upgrade" to the PotD BLM weapon, I'm giving up 102 Spell Speed, and anyone who truly knows BLM understands how even a fraction of a second shaved off your cast time can mean the difference between dodging an attack and dying to it, or getting that refresh on Enochian just in time.

Now I'm working my way towards the lore weapon. I refuse to do the relic because I have better things to spend my free time and money on. Savage would be nice, if I could find a static that can run at an acceptable hour for me, which is difficult since I'm in an inconvenient timezone. Nidhogg EX? I'll get back to you on that, once I've found people who aren't going to rage-quit at the slightest inconvenience to them.

But, not as much as the other offensive secondary stats. It's just no longer utterly irrelevant to DoT damage—it's merely the least effective bonus.

Its main advantage, as scaling increases, is in fitting more GCDs into your buff / debuff (including DoT) windows. The sad thing is that DoTs, unlike vulnerability debuffs, are already typically your strongest skills, so increasing the percentage of lesser potency-per-execute skills gives little advantage. SE screwed the pooch on secondary stats. Everything is immensely shallow. Without a big overhaul of secondary stats, they can't fix it.

for WHM, PotD weapon has Crit and Det. Upgraded lore weapon has piety and spell speed.

If you have issues to kill Nidhogg in PF then make a group with your friends and FC and if this doesn't work then just do the relic. On the last patch for some classes where the lore weapon the best one for others only the relic (if we keep savage on the side), stuff like this is normal in FF and there is no reason to complain about it.

Estellios you are right but it doesn't do that in the same amount as the other secondarys and because of that reason it is not worth especially not for classes who burn their tp very fast anyway.

First of all, if I had enough friends and FC members to fill a group for Nidhogg EX, why would I even bother with PF in the first place? And maybe I need to make this clear, but not everyone has the time or the inclination to go do all the frankly asinine requirements for the relic. It makes no sense to discuss with you any further since you just keep complaining instead of seeing it in another angle. You are not satisfied, that you don't get the weapon that you want easy peasy, i wish SE wouldn't have put any weapons in there at all.

I like it. I have all jobs at 60 and my static is still working on Nidd ex. So (since I've been bored with the game lately) it's something to do that you don't need 7 other people to work with. It's easy, sure it's repetitive, but so is fate grinding and hunts. You get decent eso from it so you can still work towards your relic. And i get weapons for jobs that I'm not going to get from Nidd or relic. So what if the secondary stats aren't what you want. You said you don't raid, why do you care so much. You can meld spell speed. And use spell speed food. There are ways.

Relic this, relic that. Funny how the BLM relic doesn't even have spell speed, which is just one more reason why I will never touch that quest.

There is nothing easy about getting the PotD weapon. There is nothing difficult about it either. It's all down to RNG whether or not you get it in 1 run or 200. When you tie something like progression and acquisition to RNG this tightly, it becomes nothing more than a tedious, time-consuming slog. Which is tragic, really. PotD has some good ideas behind it. Too bad it's all ruined by the RNG aspects, implemented to artificially pad out the amount of time you have to spend in there, for any sort of decent reward whatsoever.

Is it really so much to ask for content, dungeons and bosses that is fun to do, that has actual replay value, as opposed to being boring grindfests? I don't judge games and gameplay by whether or not they're easy or difficult, I judge them by whether or not they're fun to play. Being forced to do the same things over and over like a robot, just because RNGesus decided to shit on you, is the exact opposite of fun, and involves no skill whatsoever.

Shouldn't this complaint be aimed at the general idea that the best non-relic weapon (or any other piece of gear) within a given ilvl NEVER comes from the same place for every job?
Or that secondary stat weights are so imbalanced in the first place?

You can eventually put whatever secondary stats you want on it.

That said, I have no interest in doing my relic beyond the little progress I'd normally feel like making either, so I can understand if that still doesn't seem an option to you. Many of the step requirements do indeed seem asinine.

The problem is that people always want BiS gear even if they'll never raid and of couse for as little effort as possible. ;)

Easy content does not have BIS weapon. Yeah, and? The weapon value is above and beyond the level of difficulty to acquire it. It's an iLvl 235 weapon that honestly is a really nice upgrade for people not farming EX Primals.

I'm using the PotD weapons to gear out jobs that I'm not wanting to do a relic or a 7 week Lore grind for. I probably should just suck it up and farm Nidhogg but I don't feel like doing that right now.

I don't want PIE in my WHM weapons, but I could use some Spell Speed.

The DRK weapon is better than anything bar relics/savage weapons.

If you want a BLM weapon then get Horde, it has spellspeed on it. Different jobs have different content they should be doing for the right piece of gear.

The relic is certainly a grind, but it is quite easy content that's required to get it.

I'm disappointed they have the same Ilvel as Niddy EX. Should be lower than the current EX boss.
Why learn a somewhat hard battle when i just can brain afk run PotD 3 times?

Yuuuup. I'm not in a hardcore static so I'll probably never beat the top tier savage fights. So I'm GLAD they add easy stuff like this to get (almost) bis weapons. Sure, it's a bit of a grind. But it's free. You don't have to do it all at once. It's not hunts or fates, and i take the sub stat with a grain of salt. I'm not getting one for my bard (main) as i almost have i240.

Don't worry, they're still green. Also, they're ending up much better than Nid weapons for most the classes with all the crit/det combos.

Though I do agree, if you really wanted the Niddy weapons believing they'll help you a lot more than these weapons, you could at least use your glow stick to help farm Nid for a weapon you believe has better stats.

Though for other people..it is kind of a "why bother?" get the glow stick and glamour something else on, call it a day.

I expected it to look how it does from the start, at least that's what I got from the pictures. It could very well end up being that the glow goes away with an awesome look..we won't know until later.

Also help for quick recast on ruin 3 and shsdow flare meaning more ruin 3 before deathflare

I spent a full week doing palace and roulettes off and on only to witness the blm weapon was so incredibly disappointing. I regret it but now that my drk is at 60 i'm going to get the greatsword. Honestly, for some classes you are even better off doing the relic like blm which i'm doing. As for design... I don't really like some of them, honestly. The ast one is pretty but too bright. The blm one is pink but has an ugly design to it. Meh, at least drk looks like a lightsaber for my star wars craze.

You actually would not want skill speed for Ninja anyhow, but many of the weapons are actually very good.
Bard weapon, scholar, DK is ok, blm is not good at all however
So saying they are trash, is not correct at all

120 Spell Speed and 120 Crit can be added, or whatever stat you would want i suppose

POTD weapons, like POTD itself, are the bare minimum they could have done. Slap some boom on a textureless model. i235 and have some RNG assign what stats it has. Whoopie.
