Yoshi P has been concern about a complex job like beastmaster with new player.
I'm all for Beastmaster. Give it a whip as it's main weapon with more emphasis on the pet compared to smn. I.E. make all your oGCD abilities command the pet to do a special attack so it feels like the pair are working as a team.
I like ideal of use a whip too
I find allow healer to be both dps and healer. this planned doesn't work for healers cleric stance is many time abused to fact also we not very good healers
that be said
I think in some way Yoshi P is right complex jobs can be confused at times.
I still want see beast master and i care how well new players can handle it by require players to be hallbreaker island hard mode make good requirement to be able beat hallbreaker island hard mode
Samurai dps first please.
the island would serve as place store pets and well beastmaster quest hub
Adding another thought to the thread, I don't know if Hullbreaker HM would really work, I can't help but feel that whoever the beastmaster job trainer is, it will take us out in to a really wild area, it wouldn't be about domesticating animals in my opinion, it would be more about going in to the wilderness and turning a wild animal in to a loyal savage companion and taming it that way. If you've played Farcry Primal, it's about feeding an animal and gaining it's trust enough that it becomes loyal to you rather than caging and taming it.
As far as animal selection go, I imagine they would standardize the dps across the board, give every creature the same moves to stop one from being the "best" pet. It will probably be solely beastkin and certain scalekin type enemies as well. Coeurls, wolves, bears, tigers, drakes, and maybe the gorillas. I don't know if they'll let us tame the insect types
I agree with you there Khalithar
no i just remember people mention that Yoshi P was concern about how pet jobs where at time very complex for new players luna
my view if something is complex it should kept to point where a player can understand the job better plus hallbreaker hard mode has beastmaster there so it fite and it kind in wilds alittle.
I'd like a Dual Axe? idk i guess whip would be cool... (Not my first choice) wielding Beastmaster where you melee along side your pet, (depending on the pet). Having it auto engage on what you engage on, unless told otherwise doesn't seem like a difficult mechanic for anyone. Naturally the emphasis should be placed either more towards the pet than the master, or equally so. This is something FFxi did poorly. Beastmasters manipulation over their pets abilities was extremely limited. This is the #1 job I want to see in the future being a Bst main in FFxi.
The focus should definitely be in my honest opinion, a 50/50 split importance on your pet and your actual character. Something that bothers the shit out of me with Summoner is the pussification (no offense) of the the Summons. Summoners in FFxiv are simply not Summoners. Don't get me wrong, the class works well and It's a really cool class. But it's not a Summoner, It's a DoT applying/Spreading/Burst DPS Class with a few things centralized around the theme of a summoner. Like Dreadwyrm Trance. and it can sort of kind of do things with it's Summons. What Summoner sort of kind of does things with it's summons, and relies heavily on arbitrary Dot's which intrinsically mean nothing to the class on a traditional level as well as a functioning level on FFxiv? They aren't related to summoning or are even on the summons themselves. Just look at the abysmal list of avatar abilities. It's sad, and forgotten about really.
My point is. Don't add Beastmaster if you're not going to make it a Beastmaster. If you want Pet Planet Hippy Store Clerk who owns an untrained Dachshund who sort of kind of does what you want it to do but it sometimes shits in your living room. Then Call it what it is. An inept Pet Planet Hippy Store Clerk who shouldn't even own a god damn goldfish.
Look, i'm just... real passionate about Beastmaster. =)
My ideal Beastmaster would be a Tank rather than a DPS, functioning as effectively the opposite of the Arcanist: your character strides up to take the beating, throwing out enmity combos and keeping all of the enemy's attention on themselves, while the pet handles damage dealing. Most of your focus would be on commanding and positioning the pet, rather than just sort of having them around to do stuff occasionally.
One of the primary mechanics would have to be Catch, the old Beastmaster standby. Have it work like Mercy Stroke: a strong attack that can only be used when the target's HP is low. But rather than restoring some HP to the user, it captures the enemy for later; then, the Catch command becomes the Release command, where you unleash the stored creature on unsuspecting foes. Most of them would simply be a more powerful basic attack, but you could get interesting with some effects (such as, say, the Morbol family). And naturally, their Artifact gear would be the sheep suit.
I think more fun have permit pet then have pet leave. it also offer chance level the beast up. One reason i like have permit pets is that the mmo scene is safety place for wild animals in are world. when people have tiger as really pets it end not good for them or for humans as well. and it more enjoyable have a big tiger follow you around
I also like ram armor ffxi it be cool first set for beastmaster
suggest on pet learn skills for beast master
i think it be cool force you pet to battle one his own species to learn the new or high lvl skill that he gains.
so for example you would only allow heal him buff him but he must fight his oppenent by himself or herself
I loved BST in 11. It was my favorite job. That being said, I can't see liking it in 14. Jug pets were lame. The whole draw with BST for me was charming on the fly and hoping to God that your pet didn't turn on you mid fight. That system obviously wouldn't work for dungeons and raids. Anyway, just my opinion.
Well the problem wasn't player but rather the developers perceptions of players. SMN and SCH weren't hard to play at all but the pet usefulness in situation was hard because they were designed poorly. From the start Garuda egi was better because of contagion and range attacks kept her out of AoE. Titan was for solo and Ifrit egi just died a lot with no useful skills. They also feared of skill bloating that pets would add but then bloated all jobs skill in 3.0 and make all jobs more complex to play.
With the disaster SE made of SMN I would just prefer BLU.
What if they played like Yuna did in Dissidia? Only minus the fancy summon rings and just have the animal pop up in tandem with the directed weapon attack or in the moment of the attack together with said animal popping up as the attack animation? This way it remove the mobile pet system.
(Or would that fall toward a BLU? Always wanted to learn that fish slap move from the Apkalus/Bloody Mary)
