Is there anyway we can get the original concepts for au ra. Like the Demonic look to them as in the original concept art for them. Cause compared to what we have now, they look so much cooler with a demon look.http://i.imgur.com/ipufbiY.jpg

Nope. What's in the game is what you get. Unless SE make a third clan for them that gives them this look, keep your hopes low.
Agree that the old look was better, I wish they kept closer to the design of the concept art. The original design might have been the first race to actually get me to consider changing races, maybe next race will be enough, but I doubt it.
I like the way my Au Ra looks thanks :) Only thing that bothers me is the ridiculous difference in size between the males and females.
Even with the original more demonic look the Au Ra females were considerably smaller then the males. They also looked a lot like variations of succubi.
I believe in the backstory for the Au Ra race is that at one point they were cursed by voidsent and transformed to become something close to but not quite voidsent and they had been stuck with that look ever since.
I actually like being a hyur with horns that looks like they have a skin condition though..
I m still in love with this concept art:

In my opinion, Au Ra should look more demonish and less dragonic. They have clearly nothing to do with dragons (except their tails maybe), but there is still alot space to let them look like voidsent. Sadly, there is no backstory or any origins about the Au Ra race in general. Something like a succubi- or undead-race (with horns and tails) would be awesome.
Still hoping for a lamia-race, but maybe we got more costumization options (to let them look less lizard-like) in the near future.
I would prefer being Au Ra if his body isn't like elezen but kinda buffed like amaljaa and not running like miqote...
Deeper Character Costumization is all we need. Not as deep like Black Desert or Blade and Soul. Just keep it simple as it is, but with more options/variety (Legs, Hands, Tails, Ears/Horns, Eyes, s.o.)
FFXIV would be the first MMORPG ever, if we have the option for diverse body types or the chance to create own races. I totally love this idea, but it will cause many problems with the current gear. Just think about a snake-like lower body or animal shaped legs, you have to remodel nearly any gear for legs and feet.
On the other hand, SE never need to implement completely new races. Just add some new content for the character costumization and thats it. You want Viera? Just choose an Elezen, give it bunny ears, scut and different feet. Miqote? Hyur with cat-ears and cat-tail. Or recreate an Elin by using a Lalafall with cat-ears and plushy tail.
Those are not really "original" concept arts, but more "brainstorm phase" concept arts.
I am in love with those concept arts!
Sadly I only play Au Ra bc they look pretty, not bc they're demonic dragon looking people. I hope they do something in 4.0...
I liked the female Au Ra because you can make them look like a cute dragon girl.
It has more to do with designing armor. Since all the races generally have a similar body type they can make gear quicker. Its the same reason we don't have butts! But yes I agree I wish the races were much more diverse in every way even within the clans.
This thread is a good example why it won't happen. People just want cute and/or sexy hyur's with attachments instead of seriously different looking races. :(
I just wish they ended up with more manly faces on the males and some more strong type on the females. They ended looking as a bunch of teenage emos instead. From the artwork image the lower ones look really good but. It's the concept closer on what we actually got but they ended with more teenage passive faces than those. The upper ones looked really out of place and wouldn't fit well. They were closer to being ferocious monsters and not sentient species. All of our problems can be solved if SE ever decides to give us extra faces/heads for all the current races so we can have what we actually like and not being limited in just 4 faces in a so large MMORPG. The poor and limited choices we have in char creation in such a large MMORPG are really bad. Stop creating more cute teenage Miqo'te alternatives and focus on choices on the current races is my advise.
Maybe having mixed races would be a good start to expand on. You can be any size of cat, demon or elf by crossing (Midlander, Highlander, Lalafell, Roegadyn) x (Miqo'te, Au Ra, Elezen). There would be 12 new appearances without making any new body types. The devs would not need to hide the fact that they are reusing models because it's a cross between existing races. :D This would probably satisfy most demographics because you could make Lalanimal crosses for the cute effect, Roeqo'te crosses for strong beasts or High Elf-landers for a bit tougher looking Elezen and the same with Au Ra. Making new animal races (like bunnies, birds, wolves etc.) the same old docile looking Huyr-with-ears would not be as much of a disappointment if the body type and some of the facial features could be swapped to that of another race.
I think the upper half would be very awful with clipping with all of those spikes sticking out. It's already bad enough that the horns and tail get ignored in gear.
The lower half however looks pretty similar to what we have, but better. I prefer the horns on top instead of at the side, and I think having pointed ears alone makes them look more demonic than draconic. I love how that guy at the bottom right looks.
Makes me wish the females were as tall and mature-looking like in their concept art. Pretty much what we have right now are just Miqo'te with scales.
I feel like Au Ra right now being labeled as demonic was a last minute decision if anything. They look more draconic to me.
