Yoshida FFIX references!! nice work... now try it with Chrono Trigger

I have to say that including Ozma and FFIX battle theme at weeping city was so nice, because FFIX is my favourite Final Fantasy. But I think that Square-Enix could take the chance to add some Chrono Trigger references to Final Fantasy XIV like Chrono outfits, Ayla outfits, some boss or maybe some explicit referenced included in a dungeon; or maybe just a seasonal event.

I'm sure that in FFXIV there's a lot of Chrono Trigger fans and they will love any kind of explicit Chrono Trigger reference.

(I have to say that some of the Dravanian dinosaurs remember me prehistoric age mobs from Chrono Trigger)

Put in a bed that the player can rest in, but when they get out they realize they are still hungry.

They could add these kind of beds at 4.0 as any form of garlean tech xDDD.

Im surprised there wasn't a fate in the hinterlands with a sword wielding frog wearing a cape.

Where ???

The theme after Dark Hole is a variant of the theme from Void Ark.

The Weeping City theme is a very subtle cue to FFIX's Battle I, but it's not actually a complete remix - it only uses the first couple of bars of the main theme of Battle I and seems to repeat on it - not surprising given Battle I was composed by Nobuo Uematsu while the Weeping City track is presumably by Masayoshi Soken, two totally different composers. But I digress...

I love Chrono Trigger, but it's design may be too cartoony for this game. Even the silly costumes still follow guidelines to an extent. I think CT gear would work much better in Dragon Quest X.

I wouldn't mind seeing some Ivalice inspired gear though. Like FFT, Vagrant Story, FFXII. Similar to the Valerian gear we got from 3.0 dungeons. A reference to Tactics Ogre.

Weeping city theme also includes parts of the mor dhona field theme, Intertwined (well, remix'd of course)

The anniversary event where we got to meet the devs in the special room was (to me) a reference to Chrono Trigger's Dream Team ending where you meet in-game representations of the staff that worked on the game.

That being said however, Chrono Trigger is my personal favorite game of all time and in my opinion, the greatest RPG ever made. I'd love any possible reference to that game thrown in to this one.

In reality, it's both. Such things were sort of a running theme for many outlets, occasionally. Before we had the internet, creators left little easter eggs or secrets that revealed the behind-the-scenes sort of magic to show their hard work and appreciation for the players, since there wasn't much of a way to do it otherwise. It's sort of like when comics/manga creators either preface or end their work with little factoids during the time of that issue/volume. XIV's use was essentially an homage to that process, albeit one that also tied itself to Yoshi-P's in-game NPC.

Construct 8 mobs in Pharo Sirius HM are a call-back to Construct 8 of Final Fantasy Tactics, which was a call-back to Construct 7 of Chrono Trigger, if that means anything.

I want Xenogears references.

Gaius = Grahf
Ultima = Alpha Weltall

Thinking about it, the Ascians are probably a closer match, outside of looks. Seriously though, would love to see a Grahf or Id character with a Weltall Magitek.

I can see the resemblance in their helmets, nice. I want a Gaius glamour even more ; ;

For a boss, Deus as raid boss would play to both Chrono and Xeno. Worthy of a Crystal Tower / Void Ark type final boss, IMO (like Cloud of Darkness), but I might be bias.

I insist though that at some point Deus would have to spawn two seraphim or cherub looking adds, Myyah and Elehaym. One to be DPS'd down ASAP (Myyah), and the other to be cure-bombed (Elehaym). If Myyah lives too long or Elehaym dies: raid wipes XD

I'm fine if Yasunori Mitsuda tracks were just easter-egg orchestration rolls for our Juke boxes, that's all I'd need to be happy

Xenogears originally was going to be FF7, but they decided it was too dark for Final Fantasy, so they remapped it's development as the next Chrono game (Chrono Cross), before deciding it was too unique for that also and made it a standalone game.

I think that alone justifies it's presence in XIV in some way, and of course there's that 'other' reason why they should do it..

..but don't mean to veer off Chrono appreciation too much
