Ninjas for me. I love Trick Attack, it's so useful. And I have a high crit rate and there is just something so satisfying watching all those big numbers pop up.
Blm for me. For damage but also because it's just overall fun. Dot and timer up keep, maximizing so you move as less as possible, etc..
Other jobs are ok as well.
Blast Mage.
Nothing gets me happier than seeing 14k+ Fire 4 crits, unless they're back to back.
Summoner. Being able to poison enemies to death, Nuke them down with the visually impressive Deathflares, sport the ability to resurrect fallen allies along a Egi that you can order in many different ways makes it my favorite DPS class. It's so complex yet so rewarding
BLM. I like having infinite MP, being able to be full on resources immediately after a raise, good AoE, good single target, damage shields, 1 slow, 2 heavies, 2 binds, 1 sleep, a teleport, the ability to sprint in combat, and explosions.
Unpopular opinion: Bard. It's just so relaxing and coming from a previous WHM main with SMN secondary, I don't find the cast times to be too intrusive. There's enough mobility to still do mechanics and there's nothing like spamming bloodletter procs, while the SMN gets a 14k deathflare crit with a Battle Voiced Requiem.
A barraged Empyreal Arrow with all buffs up is also very nice to look at...
There's nothing like the feeling of ripping hate from a tank while on my Bard.
"Oops, sorry," I say, smirking behind my monitor.
Warrior.
Jokes aside, Black Mage.
That's why I asked what damage dealer do you find most satisfying. Unpopularity be damned. You like it and that's good enough for me. *thumbs up*
Keep rocking that bow! *air guitar* Off topic: We really need that emote for bards.
Back on topic,
Man. A lot of folks love their black mages. *laughs*
I can't wait to hear from more players. Inquiring lalafells want to know. What damage dealing class do you find most satisfying to play?
mh, scholar
BLM...Burn everything to the ground with utmost haste ;-)
Monk, bar none! Constantly moving back and forth, and not sitting still unlike other classes. Stance dancing (with Fists of Air/Earth/Fire as well as animal forms), decent AoE, keeping up DoTs (I use Fracture as well), and not many offensive CDs made this one a lock for my favorite DPSer. Mages are a distant 2nd, for what's it worth.
Scholar.
Joke, there're unfortunately not enough dps oriented for me :P
I like bard a lot for sure. This recent buffs made them more competitives and that Just increases the pleasure :3
My three favorite DPS classes are Summoner, Black Mage and Bard. Ninja is ok too.
I've leveled other dps classes and even a healer and I just can't help but go back to monk. Once you learn to play the job, even though it's going really fast, you get into this really comfortable flow. It's calming honestly but at the same time you're seeing big numbers come up especially when all your buffs line up. I enjoy the basic rotation so much that I often go to hinterlands to hit the dummy to relax. If you're playing the job right then no buffs or dots ever fall off which gives it this really calm flow IMO. I typed this on my phone so I hope it makes sense lol
Monk, because I get to punch magical creatures to death.
Scholar, because crit aldo deployed off a Warrior with Fey up is just heaven.
Ninja, it matches my character's name, her height and stature as a lithe Auri girl, etc. Not to mention I've always gravitated towards the assassin archetype in games and fantasy settings. Also I've grown to enjoy the utility Ninja brings to a group, the Monk in my static says I spoil her too much because of on cooldown Goads since many Ninjas don't use it (I know... DF, pugs, etc. but still).
DRG: live and die by jump ! XD
Joke asides I like the burst damage. At least I could help dps pass some dps checks. @.@
Machinist! Being in "the zone" where you can line up everything in perfect rhythm is an awesome feeling, not to mention the sheer amount of different utilities available. Wildfire's nice too I guess :P
Melee - Dragoon
Ranged - Blm
With an honorable mention going to mnk.
Whatever let's me steal aggro is what I find most fun. Seriously... I've always felt that if I pull hate, I must be doing big numbers and that as a DPS is what makes me feel good. (Yeah, yeah Quelling Strikes... that's a thing...)
Ripping hate from a 24 man with my opener on MCH is nice
Ripping hate from a tank as BLM is nice
Ripping hate from mobs as a SMN is nice
Ripping hate from a Raid as a MNK is...a very slow process.
The REASON BRD rips hate at the start of a fight is bc a fully buffed Emp is like 10k damage & you literally let it off while the tank barely has two hits in, NO S#&$ you'll rip hate, no other class can throw out that except maybe a BLM, difference is BLM can sustain that damage & keep aggro until they die. It is actually IMPOSSIBLE(don't quote me) to keep hate from the emp open with only two hits in even as an unchained berserk WAR, unless you're very overgeared or the BRD is undergeared. It is NOTHING to be proud of jeez....but man it does feel good.
I have that happen occasionally but when it does I have hit the enemy twice, the enemy runs toward the BRD as I use my third combo & keep aggro. It's a pain <.< so I modified my BRD opener to use emp after dots(probably not smart) so the tanks aren't scrambling to me.
"Quelling is bad" is all fine & good until you rip hate as a tankbuster goes off and you die, this has happened to me quite a bit as almost every job & I remember thinking I wish I used/had Quelling.
I enjoy playing ninja. I leveled mch throughout Heavensward and enjoyed it, but ended up going back to Ninja for a couple of reasons. One, my damage isn't so heavily dependant on nailing as much as damage as I can during a Wildfire, especially with all the mechanics that can screw that up. Two, speed. After playing ninja, everything else feels slow.
I will give up my ninja for a Samurai in a heartbeat, though.
I'd also like to give SMN a try, but I need to level my BLM first for Quick Cast and I find BLM boring, unfortunately.
Bard has been my squeeze for a bit I just love the utility in their kit I see a war pop beserk I give them my Paeon and I never have to communicate with them usually ends with the war going O.o a bard that uses that!? What!? I also use it for stuff like Paralysis with healers or DPS/tanks, Sleep whenever that happens and Weeping City for Bleeds/Doom, it's a lot of fun have this much potential! As well as giving Blms, Smns and healers Foes.
I also really like their DPS playstyle it always makes me smile when I see a triple barrage followed by a Sidewinder crit as well as having Iron Jaws to refresh DoTs making multi dotting and AoEing so much easier.
Bards in a really good spot and very rewarding.
Thanks Anienai! But, please don't dismiss me because I'm a lalafell!
Folks, this isn't a thread about whether to use quelling strikes or pull hate from the tank. Although, that is a great topic.*laughs*
C'mon and let's get back on the topic of this thread. :D
What damage dealer do you find most satisfying to play?
I've brought blm, bard and ninja to post 60 with my blm as my main at i234. At first enchonian wore on me but now I consider that a good challenge. Keep it up and you'll get wicked dps with fire iv...let it fall you drop dps like a rock.
Now I do use quelling strike bc it let's the tank contribute more to the fight. I wasn't always that way however. The level 50 teleport usage is the sign of a good blm....now I'm disappointed in pre 50 content without it
BRD. Nothing is more satisfying that being able to perform my opener and rotation without interruption.
Without a doubt it has to be monk for me i play on pc (laptop) with a razer sabertooth and all i can say is that no class in the game feels so in tune with playing on controller like monk does. I started the game as paladin back in 2014 and after just 1 month i realised my mistake after recommending a friend to play monk.
Everything about the class feels so intuitive going for positionals, stacking chakra during downtime, form shift to save greased lightning and our aoe is one of the best in the game only really beaten by summoner easily matching black mages aoe and even then in dungeons like Anti tower we even have smn'er beat due to my next fave thing about the class our cooldown timers are all on such low timers (Besides Perfect balance) so we always have access to are very powerful moves like elixer field and howling fists and purification for extra tp.
I have to give honarable mentions to Dragoon too
Used to love bard. Just don't like the mage feel to it. So i levelled ninja and enjoy it a lot. Was either that or monk and being as I already had dexterity stuff ninja won.
Keep hoping they'll scrap the casting bars but unlikely.
