I think it would be interesting. I know a few MMO's that have them. Usually you can buy items that are rare and not obtainable outside of the cash shop. I personally want to have Ifrit and Shiva mounts in the cash shop.

Cash Shop's are almost always only in games that are free to play (Particularly anime styled games)
The point of them is to help the game stay alive and in return, players usually get tacky or over the top looking items.
I'm personally against Cash Shops as i've never seen them be implemented tastefully (Maplestory, Wonderking ect)
where is this game going.
No thank you.
Troll post is troll
"Ifrit and Shiva mounts" lololol
please go away.
ENN OHH SPELLS "Thank you for your input but this is currently not being examined by the development team."
I understand Ifrit mount but not a Shiva mount.. Would she carry you on her back or what?
Failtrol?! But I'll bite I'm bored..
No.. As it usually costs more to have everything then a dam sub from what I've read when people actually work out what they spend a month.
Actually yes... If its just for vanity/cosmetic items for people with cash to blow, no harm in that.
At risk of this possibly being serious (you never know on these boards), no thank you. Cash shops give game companies incentive to nickle and dime you. We shouldn't encourage that.
No thank you
Hell no! -_-
No thanks. I would be a fan of an NPC that only sells cosmetic/special items to pre-2.0 characters though. Similar to the Collector's Edition Shop Bioware is putting into TOR, only CE buyers get access to it, and it'll only be fluff items.
f--- no

I will leave and never touch another Square-Enix product for the rest of life.
Also, can you imagine how totally out of control the FF online Elitist nature would get if they did a cash shop for items that were more than cosmetic?
I can see it now.. 'You didn't spend $50 on that whole set of new tanking gear from the CashShop?! No party for you.. EVAR.'
I'd even contemplate stopping playing if they did implement it to save myself the eyesore and hurt of watching the game spiral down the plug hole as it filled with idiots paying $3 for a skull mask to look "kewl". I'll put a gun to me lalafell head and shout goodbye cruel eaorzea if it got implemented.

I would like a cash shop that lets me buy a freaking poster larger than 50x70cm for my wall. Seriously. All I get is a crappy tiny poster framed? What if I wanted something bigger? Why is it so hard to believe that someone wouldn't want a bigger poster than some tiny piece of crap? What if i wanted a fabric one too? I want paraphernalia, without having to resort to crappy ebay knockoffs.
Yes, WoW has one. I was just suggesting a cash shop because most MMO's have one.
Why not spend money if it makes you happy?
Keep that smut out of ANY p2p. You wanna winbywallet do it somewhere else. That would be the death of XIV and the minute SE introduces any type of cash shop is when I forget who SE is. The moment I say goodbye to any SE made product.
no no no no no.
I'm disinclined to acquiesce to your request. Means "no".
Cash shops are great if you like buying your way to victory or absolutely have to have that cape, however the moment a cash shop is introduced into XIV is the last hope gone for this game.
no thanks, i personally hate the direction all gaming industry is going ...with all the dlc's and extra's and costume packs/characters they try to milk more money out of you for. ...i hate cash shops to boot. don't get me wrong i enjoyed the mini expansions in ffxi, and i love dlc's like all the fallout ones. but we payed for the game, we pay monthly it should all fit in that money.
gaming industry is one of the few things that aren't getting cheaper, or nor they trying to give you more for your money. they trying to charge you for that extra instead. i'll buy the ones i really want too but ... just not good to me. take comcast (cable/internet provider) in past few years they went digital (all good) but forced to pay for cable to see free channels, kk. then they make u get these tiny little boxes for every tv. 2 free and average house i think has 5+ tvs? so yay to that but you don't really need them less you want just a few channels more, ...now ..they took all the channels out lmao, u get the free 5channels on them now so you need em for the rest of the house. that is a steep slop, and gaming industry is in same direction. that is my rant, i'm not totally cheap but ...erg ..they are crooks.

A cashshop that sells worthwhile items in a P2P mmo is just pure greed by the company (Blizzard selling mounts in WoW for example). And honestly i would rather pay illegal rmt making a dollar a day then pay a company that is making billions a year extra money to enjoy a game I am already paying for (not saying I buy gil or anything but if I had to choose between the 2 I would not pay SE or any other MMO company). So No this game should never have a real cash shop as long as it is P2P. Things like vanity items (piano in your house, holiday cloths) and things like server transfers and name changes. They can have a shop for those, sell a 1 def/no stats Santa hat for $5 I do not care. But the cashshop cannot have anything that improves your character in anyway even if it is a minor improvement.
If it goes F2P well almost all my linkshell and myself would simply quit so at that point I could care less. Game is more or less over if it gets to that point though.
No, never ever.
Eh, why not? It's your money. Use it any way you want to.
No thank you.
I realize there would not be a subscription fee if there was a cash shop. And all the people who want to keep playing for free or reduced price would be able to. And people that want to pay could.
What's next? Charging real world currency for extra storag space or character slots?
Snow already owns the Shiva mount.
thanks for the offer but i have to pass, no cash shop.
So tired of cash shops. Almost every damn game is adopting this and I really hope SE keeps this OUT of FFXIV.
Making the game F2P and adding a cash shop is actually better business than having a Sub with no cash shop. Micro transactions have been proven to generate more income from the game than simply having a Sub. For example, people spend $10+ on a character or character Skin in League of legends (some skins cost $20) so already in that one transaction they made the profit of one to two months Sub fee. Then again, having a Sub AND a Cash shop trumps either.
with what diablo3 is doing (legal player run real cash money auction house, that they charge fee's on)i can only assume that if it does well, even if it's not a real mmo that many mmo's will start doing this as well. not sure how that would work too, all these mmo's are pushing casual at the moment, but second they change to a model where drops need to be more rare for them to make money... things might take a new turn for content difficulty again. this is all saying that diablo3 does so well that bliz starts adding it to all there mmo's and others begin to copy too. i think from what i understand another mmo did this and didn't do well either way so maybe not.
cash shop for items that dont effect the balance of the game is ok. dont want pay to win.
personally i don't want cosmetics to pay either, i'm hear to play the game and earn everything and i'm like a baby in the candy isle, i want what i see and i want it all. but i want to earn it threw the game not pay for it. ah the days when u won the new colors and costumes and things in game and not had to buy them, granted they much cooler looking ones then they try charge for it but ...anywho. also granted if ffxi had 3 mini expansions near the end, i can assume this game wanted to go a route of many more of those types ...but game went sour so might be long time b4 they try to suck us dry with mini's and 10dollar mounts. heck they even gonna take our 200spaces away... why? more for retainer sales then anything really i'm sure. haters gonna hate, /hate.
No thank you
Nah, I'm fine as it is. I'll pay my monthly subscription and have the option of having "everything" by my skill/time/etc and not by my wallet.
Yeah Im going to have to disagree with the op. A cash shop would be devastating to the ff14 community. I for one would be extremely against it but I probably would still play FML
no it should not be in a P2P game.
