I'm at work and terrified to click that link. Can someone give a quick explanation of what it is?
A rambling complaint about the community.
Honestly, I didn't watch your video because of the word "Rant" in the title. I did, however, read the comments and you writing "yea this community needs a purge" doesn't sit right with me. Every game has bad apples, but the overall experience here has been well received.
Just last weekend I was mining my own business (Pun! Couldn't resist) and someone sent me a /t asking for advice regarding red scrips. I wasn't wearing the crown, as I wasn't looking to teach anyone at that time, but I stopped my farm to answer their questions and guide them to the next step.
I also know raiders who have the latest content on farm that will join progression groups just to help out and players who will join pony farm parties even when they have all the ponies, myself included here. XIV has plenty of helpful players, I think you're just looking under the wrong rocks.
1. You go on about people ragequitting, except just a few moments ago, you were going on about bird farming... how does anything with bird farming have to do with a CLEAR party? It's either a farm, or a clear party, and yes, a farm will have people experiencing burnout, that may be 5 runs for one person, or 10 runs for another, even 30 for certain people. At that point, if that person sits for a few runs (3 or so), and you're not happy about it, blacklist them. Don't waste breath complaining about them... next point.
2. Nerfed fights: There is no reason for mechs to be nerfed further than what SE will do of their own volition when it comes to the patches that nerf the duties (3.2 nerfing 3.0 content, 3.4 nerfing 3.2 content, 4.0 nerfing 3.4 content).
3. Toxicity: You used an example of i230 BRD vs a 7-man i240 party, that is largely fallacious. No one would ever kick an i230 BRD who can meet DPS checks and has clears. If they kick you, it's because there is an issue between them and you, and I don't think it would be iLvl if you've got the clears. In regards to the experience after taking 2 months of running content, you just put up a learning PF, or get into a Linkshell that has people who are willing to join you to learn duties, as well as farm them. The toxic people that say something along the lines of "No bonus Eso, no mistakes, 1 mistake = blacklist and kick!", yeah, those need to be on your blacklist too.
4. LBR: As far as I can remember, LBR are very toxic, but I do remember at one point, Aniero, one of the guys running LBR, went onto Reddit and had a conversation with quite a few people after there was this whole campaign of him being toxic (and a lot of the stuff he said was extremely negative, I can't list it in fear of being banned but it was extreme stuff.), and at this point, the best thing I can recommend is to just ignore it. If you're on the same server as LBR, just blacklist them and cut them out of your life... same as point 3 and point 1... just don't waste your breath on them. The more people ignore them, the less likely they are to stick around (but since they have friends of their own and fans and all that... yeah, likely not gonna happen for a while.)
All in all, what Zigabar may hold true for you. You're probably looking at the wrong places (I mean, LBR... really?), there are people who are extremely positive in XIV, I have my moments where I may go a little out of wack, but I am first and foremost a mentor in the game, so I try my best to help before raging at people, and I still have a hand in the raiding community on my server. Cliche that I'm using myself as an example but it's the truth.
Bird runs,
Its not about low drop rate its about how good are the players doing in the fight. If there is a really gimpy player your not willing to kick everyone or someone will leave cus your wasting there time. They want fast & easy clears. They want to push phases to make the content easier to farm. These days more casual players are playing and there are less raiders playing and its why its happening more often now.
Clear parties. Again. Less skilled players around that still need it done. Its also stupid to have a PF up saying, dont leave till everyone has a bird. Drop rate isn't high enough to ask that from players.
The people saying for them to nerf it,
They don't even play it or even bother to try to tackle it a second time. (ill just wait untill they nerf it like they do with the 95% of the rest of the game)
Need 240 because your 230. If we're talking about the last turn sure above 230 would help. Its not like your going toget 240 without clearing the last turn already.
Like I say before they want to clear it easier/on repeat and you don't need the item level to meet those dps checks.
OG: It there way or leave cus its the only way they know where they can clear the content. You need to meet there requirement or they can't clear it. They don't wanna reteach players and losing raid progression just because you did't bother to get into raiding at release and it shows in your gear.
Wasting your time with bird farming when you should be learning content. If you choose to do that don't complain about why people aren't inviting you.
If you want to get into raids join a FC/Raid static and know your role well. Also important to keep your item level up to date at a major patch.
If your making mistakes or don't know your role well enough or aren't geared to the basic il for the start of the patch or causing drama or not showing up on time. You will get replaced.
Who the hell is LBR?
beetle juice you are totally right and everything you sayed
What the hell is og?
Don't see how so many people want nerfs when content is already for casuals...
While you do make some good points, I think it may be wise in the future to set up some bullet points you want to cover, so your rant doesn't become too redundant. Not necessarily a script, but an outline may be helpful.
My other suggestion would be to record this vlog style, your face in front of the camera. I say that because the video itself is not very entertaining, and because this is a personal rant, one that I think people may enjoy better if they see your expressions. This is one of the ways viewers can get to know you better and will help people remember you. I say this like I know what I'm talking about, but in truth I haven't done a vlog video yet - I should though, as a Youtuber. Someday.
Based on your descriptions of yourself and your motivations for playing it sounds like you would do well in a static or raiding FC. Building community is the answer to toxicity. Maybe start your own LS for people on your server that are just interested in doing content whenever.
I stopped listening as soon as you started the rant about the 'toxic community complaining' but your entire video is a rant.. complaining. It just seemed very hypocritical from the start, sorry. :(
I agree felt low down and hard to follow, and sort of rambles on. Although some good points were made. LBR- yeah what is there catch phrase again? "Shut up nika" i cant remember her name just seems like they always tell the girl to shut up all the time for no reason at all
I'll be honest, Reddit does have it's moments of mature, theological and profound conversations... anything involving LBR is not one of them. I wouldn't be so quick to agree that LBR is right about much of what's said there, since from what I heard, all but one person on that podcast DOES actually raid, and if you see the posts beforehand, there is only one individual who does raid, and unfortunately, that person gets shot down... I don't agree with them for the most part because largely, all their suggestions do not come from firsthand experiences. On top of that, while Aniero has attempted to 'fix' the situation he's put himself in, he's caused more issues than resolved them... like saying certain individual's mothers have AIDS and may as well be dead... if you ask me, I would not want to be near those types of individuals...
EDIT: Yeah, I just checked his Lodestone profile... not a single Midan piece, and has only downed Coil once, likely just for achievements...
I do listen to lbr sometimes they make good points but 85% of podcast is boring.
Hey Hey Hey! It's always great when the bashing brings in new listeners ;-)

LBR is pretty much a pile of shit. The main host Calaera especially. She constantly acts like she knows what she's talking about yet seems to only play BLM and plays that poorly as well. Her only contribution is childish humor and struggling for attention.
Jeff is the best one on the podcast, although he sometimes can get elitist. Dark is ok as well mainly because she isn't fighting for the spotlight by saying anything she possibly can to get attention.
The other two guys on the podcast are complete tools who rarely if ever have anything intelligent to say. I don't even remember their names because if they are on the podcast I just turn it off and delete the episode.
Jeff should just write blogs, Dark should host the podcast, and Calaera should go back to playing Warcraft where half-wits like her belong.
FFXIV has the least toxic community of any mmorpg i've played. Idk if it's just your server or what but I don't think toxicity is quite the problem.
