Loot lockout for Weeping City should be increased to 2 shouldn't it?

With the amount of loot that drops out of Weeping City along with the fact that a lot of people are already running around with i230 gear. Why shouldn't the loot lockout shouldn't be at least 2 per week?

I've long believed that as long as they allow us to do all jobs on one character, we should be able to gear all those jobs on that character. It sounds nice in theory that I have BLM, WAR, and WHM all at max level, but the reality is that only my BLM can ever really be geared for the target content with the way all the lockouts work. I finish my WC on reset day, and don't set foot in there again until the next reset. If I had a chance at getting another piece for one of my other, more in-demand jobs (in terms of the duty finder, not my guild teams), I might go back in a few more times as WHM or WAR and help queue times. As it is I focus only on BLM and let the other jobs ride with whatever they happen to get along the way. I don't actively worry about gearing them as I might if I had the opportunity to obtain these 230 pieces for them.

Lookouts are their way to extend existing content, until the next batch of new content arrives. If there were no lockouts current content would become outdated months prior to them being able to release new ones.

My only gripe is how the new loot is determined. Gotta love getting 2 pairs of striking gloves or 2 belts from the same boss!

Less of a chance that multiple people going for the same loot will get screwed over.

Would much prefer a token system so we get in get out and not rely on RNG over the course of 20+ runs and unless you run Tank have to fight other classes that share gear over drop.

It's because Weeping City isn't designed to create an easier alternative to gearing up faster, it's meant to provide an additional resource to allow returning players a means to playing catchup. With the side effect that the gear they obtain through here can't be upgraded to i240.

I think that would be the case if it were just a race for returning players to gain ilvl. However, the stat allotment on the WCoM gear is different than lore gear, and blending the two (+ materia) can either dramatically complicate your stats or improve them. As a WAR, I have adjusted my gear stats with a mix of lore and Yafaemi. Dropping Yafeimi for lore would jack up parry in some instances, and I'd lose stats that matter.

TL;DR - the gear drops can complicate loadouts, unlikely that it's for catch-up.

Lol you guys just don't give up lol! Never happy no matter how much loot gets thrown at ya! I applaud your determination though!!! You would think 800% drop rate on a 30-40 minute dungeon would be enough but noooooo....

Why not just sell all the loot at an NPC vendor? Then everyone can get all the gear they could possibly ever want on day1. Then we can all be equally bored af together with no reason to run any of the content anymore.

Man i miss the days of rare loot and having a rarity system that actually meant something :( Now everything is just blue and common. Make loot great again!! Vote for Trump!!!

EDIT: Theres already an unlimited supply of 220 gear, i highly doubt they will ever give unlimited top ilvl gear.

The coin only upgrades the current lore gear. I think the discussion is more about people, that put lore on their main characters but would love to gear their other jobs without spending lore on it. Then it comes down to 3 options, Eso/Void gear (outdated even so its still great for none raiders), Midan Gear (now without a weekly lockout - regular mode), or 1 weekly drop from Weeping City based on RNG and roll among everybody in the party.

Back to OP, lets look at the system for a bit, in the past the 24 man dungeon drops were meant to be filler gear. Meaning that if you couldn't buy 2 items a week due to the weekly tome cap/lockout, you would have the possibility to go that route. Since crafted gear was not even equal to casual content or raid gear. Some players could not even afford it or stopped at the materia overmelds since it was very expensive when aiming for BIS (Tanks for example). Throughout the Years/Months this changed, crafted gear becomes more popular and affordable, as well as getting tomes from roulettes and various other methods. It's no longer seen as the filler gear for main characters throughout and during progression periods.

Therefore we have to draw the line somewhere, and I think SE did that with adding the weekly lockout to some of the content. Is it something we wanted? No, but it keeps the balance between old/newer content/gear if you are not raiding. If you could as new player/non raider/catch up player just jump into the 24 man every day and loot whatever you like for 19 hrs straight, why would you bother with doing content such as midas or even expert dungeons? Anyways, if you are not raiding you wont even need all that 230+ gear. Sure its great to have, but it makes the game pretty much boring if you're over geared in every aspect of the game except savage.

This is one of this games biggest hang ups for me. I have everything to 60, I like to switch up jobs that I bring into duties to keep things fresh, but only 1 job is ever fully geared and only a 2nd gets to be mostly geared before the next update and the other jobs get pushed back even further.

Been this way since Labyrinth of the Ancients. I see nothing wrong with it since loot from the 24 man raid is basically completely for free.

I have 5 jobs at item level 223 or higher. Which is more than enough to do everything up until A7S (and even then if you're really good at it you could do A7S and even A8S at that level, maybe with some melded vitality.)

You don't need lore gear on everything.
