Thematically it makes more sense to me for the stoic death themed class to be about arcane arts and for the class about the manipulation of life and energy to be about healing and protecting. I know Conjurers have the elements and all, but really, what else would WHM be?

People need to understand that they've said in the past that magic would be moved around between the two classes to readjust the balance (along with gain new actions). They might go ahead and move the elemental nukes over to THM.

So the spiritual tree huggers are White Mages and the self-interested hedonists are Black Mages? I think I can dig it.

I also don't see why everyone is losing their *** so early. Just wait until next week when we see the ability changes. Maybe *** won't be so bad.

lol I have been saying that CON = WHM since they announced that they were bringing out BLM and WHM as jobs. But still /comfort, though you seem fine with leveling a new class, so yay! :D

there is no guarantee that they will move elemental skills to thaum, also black mage may not be an elemental master in this game.

Say for example its thm/con, they will gain access to nukes, if blm has some native magic potency trait, they will probably be better or equal to a conjurer.

Essentially they can keep the elemental nukes on con, and give the black mage jobs nukes like gravija, ultima, meteor, death, etc. essentially non elemental distructive spells.

That said we will see what they choose to do next week i suppose.

That'd be fine, I just don't want them totally screwing over the lore by doing something so nonsensical as making the elemental people not use elemental magic. It'd be like making archer no longer use bows, and having them use swords instead now.

I could only see something like that happening under extreme conditions.

Like if you'd welcome changes to FINAL FANTASY XIV that would drastically alter the rules already set in Eorzea.

I was always thinking that the jobs will always get more initial abilities than just the branch they're coming from. For example, I really doubt that Paladin will not be allowed to have Cure as an initial ability. This aplies for the mage classes as well; perhaps each job will draw abilities that deal with what they are, with just the initial link coming from the class. Unless we start seeing Black Mages still curing with sacrifice and buffing with Stygian spikes, then White Mage should be getting those abilities, even though White Mage comes from Conjurer. And vice-versa.

Well we definitely won't be able to, except for possibly Holy if it gets implemented, but I like CNJ's current playstyle and it would be wonderful to still have it around.

I can't say I'm a fan of the pan-out, but a proper laying of the laws of the world is at least a good thing.

Now let's just hope that Conjurer unlocks White Mage in Ul'dah and that Thaumaturge unlocks Black Mage in Gridania.
