Are you finding yourself way ahead of umbrite? What do you do for crystal sand?

I get all my esos through roulettes, but unfortunately they don't give much poetics for inks and mists to turn in for crystal sands. So, I'm always way ahead on umbrites and am looking for other ways to earn crystal sands.

Other than farming poetics, my main source has been demimateria. I don't think I'm high enough level to farm scrips, and I'd rather now blow my load buying elemental materias and primal parts. Sadly, I also don't have leves to earn the items, and any leves I do get I put towards leveling crafters/gathers.

What are your methods for crystal sand?

I actually went ahead and upgraded my Botany gear to avoid being completely dictated by rng, now able to farm at least two collectables per cycle at their cap reward, with enough time to farm total of 4 collectables per in-game 24 hour period. If I am lucky, that's maybe 1 sand per cycle.

I just crafted the airship items before they skyrocketed in price, I chose sands over millions ;_;


I also got 20 sands with amber vilekins from the leve cancel trick & like 10 from the poetic items.

Thaliak River + Brute Leech (Bait) = TONS of Illuminati Perches.
Every 30-45 Minutes, depending on your Luck, you get 1.000 Blue Scrips, 180-240 Blue Scrips for the Brute Leeches alone.

So to say, you make 10-15 Blue Scrip Tokens in an Hour, if Luck isn't exactly on your side.

Let's see..

Poetics from roulettes for the items
Using GC Seals for 5 moonstones (crafting and turning in dungeon gear)
Solo farming peisteskin maps for a chance at more moonstones (and other things)
Desynthing for fieldcraft demateria (I have a surplus of the others besides FCII..)
The cancel leve trick

I do Void Ark twice sometimes as well for the farthing for that other turn in, but only if I have time..and I can stand doing it twice..
Blue scripts might be something I try next.

If you've got the spare leve allowances do the HW Combat Leves, the 1 allowance ones not the 10.

Its like a 10-20% chance a treasure chest will spawn, those chests will always have an amber vilekin so thats 1 sand every-time.

Like esp said, use GC Seals on Moonstones, also the Ixal Echatl daily gives a moonstone everyday, its not a speedy option but it can odd up if you spend your gc purely on the stones.

Also cause my Botanist and Mining are at 60 as well (Fishing is too but I don't like the rng element too much) I go between 3 different nodes everyday and thanks to being able to use single mind at least once I can hand in a minimum of 9 collectible items each cycle so 18 items per full day.

Also bare in mind at the most you'll need 80 sands and umbrites but you might get lucky after the 120/240 mark and get some extra ^^

So buy when you can match the sands to the umbrite.

Yeah I'm pretty much never in need of sand, and never will be.

I'll 2nd on spare leves like NaesakiAshwell said. You can burn thru 100 leves if you want to. Activate > look for chest > abandoned > retry again and again lol. It is boring, but can be done quickly. I went 32/100 on those.

I actually have too many sands it's the umbrite I need to si5 down and farm got 20 amber from levequests the rest I got through friends helping me craft.

Its the other way around for me. I have too many sands and not enough umbrite. Just doing 1 large battle levequest, get the treasure chest, 5 amber encased vikin which turns into 5 sands.

Sans are not a big problem, I have tons. I usually get Moonstones with company seals, spam Levelquest to get Vilekind, Poetics to get Tvanairian Mist and Enchanted Ink, blue scrips though gathering, which are really quick. The Umbrite is a pain, I just spam Aetherochemical Reserach Facility when I'm done with roulettes. I get like 4-5 umbrites per day.

Highly recommend the Battlecraft Leves. With 100 Leves and 40 minutes I got 27 Amber Vilekin which trade for 27 Sands.


I simply accepted the "Two Birds, One Culling" Battlecraft Leve in the Sea of Clouds, looked for the Treasure Chest that can spawn around the 4 main objective areas, and then Aborted + Restarted the same Leve over and over in 20-30 seconds. No need to finish the Leve; and the Chest spawned about 25% of the time. By the time you use up all that Sand your Leve's will have refreshed in number to do it all again.

my gear isn't good enough for collectables, have to farm for poetics :'(

Boy I wish I had a ton of Umbrite. They give you a myriad of ways to get sand but Umbrite is flat 300 Eso a pop. It's basically 60-80 Unidentifiables all over again with a reduced Eso cost.

The leve Two Birds, One Culling in sea of clouds seems to have a good rate of chests and they seem to always spawn on the target areas. Did 100 leves and got 28 ambers :D good way to get sands for free and you get gold pieces for gil!

I wish I could sacrifice the leves for ambers, but sadly, I have to level other jobs. As for scrips, what level do you need to be to start collecting them?

I'm the opposite OP.

I have WAAAAAY too many sands ( about 200+ atm, need to collect enough for the 3 relics I work on simultaneously ) and not enough Umbrite because I don't want to farm for Eso. I only ever run roulettes and not even all of them sometimes.. depending on how I feel that day... So I'm thirsty for Umbrite but not enough to force myself to run things.

I had stached away a lot of red scripts, each redscript converts into 9 blue scripts i got hundresd of them or more.

I dont need the blue scripts for anything else, cause i managed to make my own 190 ironworks crafted gear anyway.

I made drac pots and citrine necks for blue scripts. Yay for macros and Netflix.

I personally just do the leves and occasionally get a few poetic items for the sands. Not a gatherer myself, but I heard it's quite efficient.

I'm not much of a script person, but between trading in GC seals for moonstones (25k seals/sand) and amber vilekin, I've still got a comfortable head on them.

Only about a 1/4 done with Umbrites though. Assuming I don't get any bonuses at all, I guess.

Blue crafting scrips, get all the sands you need in like 2 hours.
