Your problem is that you are with the Maelstrom... Adders queue was much faster than that when I did a couple tonight (and we actually won them all too).
Maelstrom does pretty good in shatter, I've won 5 of 6 games this week. The mode is so boring though I barely queue to it, in spite of how well maelstrom performs, unless I need lore or just ran out of stuff to do for the night (and I used to queue for 20+ frontline matches a week before, even upwards of 40 at Seize's peak). Regardless this mode died down much faster than previous incarnations as it hasn't been 3 weeks yet since its inception and queues already surpass 30 minutes. PVP in general has really hit a lull with Feast also never having recovered from the update like I thought it would.
I didn't say Maelstrom do bad... they usually do win most of the time which is why they are the most popular and in turn they have the most people flock to them and the longest queues. Both other companies do have their moments where they'll win a bunch, but they happen less often. It pretty much depends on how many good players that can somewhat carry the team queue up and Maelstrom has more of them.
I wholly agree. But until SE does something about it, what choice do people have? At least the problem has a solution, however inconvenient it might be. It's not as if changing GC has such a huge impact on everything else. If people really only cared about queue times, they would switch right away. But they want to win all the time. You can't have your cake and eat it too.
The PvP system is way too opaque for new players at the moment. Simply showing everyone the wait time for all 3 companies would go a long way to make people understand what's going on without having to come to a forum, and people that do are a minority. The rest just give up. Obviously, the best option would be the remove the restrictions, but people might underestimate what impacts that might have with all the underlying systems such as PvP rank, achievements and even rankings on the lodestone. I am sure that SE has at the very least analyzed the scenario and might have determined that the technical limitations were too big (and no, not because of the PS3 this time ;))
Yeah, this is the situation for Primal. Other data centers might have another company being on top, though it seems to either be Maelstrom of Immortal Flames everywhere. Where's the Adders love! :(
Well Immortal flames are on top on chaos and they still have good queue so idk
I already exposed my opinion on the matter in other threads: I think the problem is mostly one of visibility. If we at least knew what the queues looked like (having it show us how many from each company are queued akin to how it shows roles in PvE), the population would most likely balance itself. Of course, that should be the short term solution with getting rid of companies in PvP being the ultimate one. However, I seriously doubt removing them would be as simple as people make it out to be and there could be unsuspected impacts SE will have to deal with first.
The new map is kind of meh when the crystals are not up it seems like you just stand around
That's the overcautious solution. A more aggressive team will dominate the opposition if they take successful action during gaps between Ice pops.
The problem is the 'successful' caveat. If the aggressive team doesn't have the coordination and control to pull off attacking / base-stealing and get back on point in time to keep a zone around the next Ice, then they risk ending up at a net loss or neutral for the effort.
I think the 'stand around' meta comes from exhausted commanders that just want to win, and try taking the path of least resistance when herding cats that they don't have trust or faith in the coordination/skill level under their command. It's very punishing to lead a team into direct conflict that it can't handle properly. It's like a 50/50 coin flip to tell the team to just stay back and try to win the Ice race each time, and maybe pick at a vulnerable GC's back sometimes.
I second having visible players queue for each grand companies under duty status. Saturday night I was in queue for over 65 minutes, which should never happen, thats 2 shatter matches and im still stuck in queue without given a reason why is just horrible SE!!!
I'd rather like seeing the removing of gc restrictions than just seeing the amount of people in queue according to their gc. It won't help the queues, and it's wasted programming time who could serve new pvp features (even if it could be a nice new ajustement, it won't change the waiting time sadly).
Queues for shatter are under 10 mins for me during peak times. I just wish more people queued up for seal rock. I prefer the green of seal rock to the winter backdrop of shatter.
Feast is over 30 mins though.
Shatter, Chaos server, every evening.

2 more weeks of dead Feast queues minimum. Please look forward to it.
Can SE at least nerf the CD on GC switching then? Being stuck for 15 days in Maelstrom and not being able to get into one match after trying for 12 hours non-stop of queuing stinks.
