Need Healer Macro Help

Please note I am EXTREMELY new when it comes to Macros so please bare with me. Also I am playing on the PS4 if that has any affect on the subject.

I decided to try and setup some Macros for my WHM but it doesn't seem to be working out. Here's an example of what I am trying to do:

/ac "Divine Seal" <me>
/wait 0.5
/ac Swiftcast <me>
wait 0.5
/ac "Medica II" <me>

Now my issue is that sometimes SC won't cast and it will go straight into MII from DS or on the other hand sometimes it will cast DS, then SC but NOT MII. I've tried adjusting the wait time from 0.5 to 1 but to no prevail.

Here's another example.
/ac Swiftcast <me>
/wait 1
/ac "Stoneskin II" <me>

With this one it will always cast Swiftcast but will only occasionally follow it up with Stoneskin II.

If anyone could give me some insight or advice as to what I am doing wrong or how I make this work properly I would greatly appreciate it.

First off I am 99% sure that you cannot wait for anything less than whole seconds, so that is likely the issue with you first macro. Your second one looks like it should work just fine. I can offer two possibilities. One could be due to network lag. I am unsure if the entire macro is sent to the server to run or if it sends each line to run once the other one has processed. The second possibility is that you were possibly level synced and did not have access to the abilities at your synced level.

In general, you really shouldn't use waits in macros. But a couple usage notes.

As Xandos says, you can only wait whole seconds, so the minimum wait is 1. You can also reduce the number of lines that need to be processed by using a wait tag instead of a wait command.

Instead of
/ac (Swiftcast) <me>
/wait 1
/ac (Stoneskin II) <me>

Use
/ac (Swiftcast) <me> <wait.1>
/ac (Stoneskin II) <me>

As to why it doesn't always finish with Stoneskin II, are you using it exclusively out of combat? Stoneskin II is strictly a QoL spell for precombat shielding.



If you are absolutely compelled to macro these abilities, for some reason, better than waits would be
/ac (Divine Seal) <me>
/ac (Swiftcast) <me>
/ac (Medica II) <me>

And then spam the button. Relying on waits is never a good idea. This spammy macro will occasionally miss an ability if timed wrong, but it'll still be more reliable than the wait version.

My very first answer would be : avoid macro in healing or raising...
But since you're on PS4 could work...

The divine seal one is good but like the other said wait should be at least 1sec
To avoid overlapping skill

The macro i would suggest for you is virus/eyes for an eyes macro with target effect
/Ac "Virus" <f>

Which allow you to put virus on your focus target no matter who/what you're aiming at

...

And last but not least
DO NOT SWIFTCAST STONESKIN II
In any situation it's a plain NO
Your swiftcast have more value than 5 sec of casting

If people can't wait 5 sec, then let them die... you can't wait 2 sec of healing

Typical situation in any 24-man raid.
MT is already going to pull but last ppl from your alliance are running in just now.
Swiftcast SS2 or let them them die and waste mana and Swiftcast on a Raise?

If going in without stoneskin would cause people to die, there are more important issues to worry about.

In 24 Man raid stoneskin won't save people XD

And as any healer shoudl know... pre-casting
You see them running... you start casting
Since the spell work on people around you at the end of the cast if they run in before the cast end they're protect
If the tank pull let him die :D easy no ?

As a PS4 player I'd advise against macros. To my knowledge there are no two skills in healing that you'd macro together that you wouldn't also want separately on your crossbars, meaning they don't save space. Macros in this game are clunky and require too much waiting, meaning they slow you down, and aren't as reliable as the base skills.

The two macros I use in healing are 1) Swiftcast > Rez—which isn't ideal, it's slower and requires me to stare at my target until they get the rez buff, because if I'm reckless and swap targets too soon it won't activate. Not gonna lie, I use it for the novelty of being able to put something in chat when I Rez, but that necessary hesitation has killed tanks before. 2) I macro Disable or Virus so that it can hit either my target or the target of my target. This is the only practical healing macro I've seen. It's great for quickly nerfing the boss on a tank buster while you shield and heal the tank

Edit: also the above hatred for swiftcast > Stoneskin II is silly. If the <60 seconds into your pull is truly hindered by your brief lack of Swiftcast then you have bigger problems. Also, a party should be willing to wait for its members if necessary. But a skilled healer/tank shouldn't require his or her party to wait on them.

I think the topic has got a bit derailed by the Stoneskin bit.

OP - here's a couple of useful macros I use as a whm.

1 - The macro to rule them all:

/micon Raise
/ac Swiftcast <me>
/wait 2
/ac Raise <t>
/p Raising <t>

Speaks for itself, swiftcast + Res, you also let the party know what's going on.

2. - Useful when taking on a couple of mobs:

/micon Repose
/ac Swiftcast <me>
/wait 2
/ac Repose <t>
/p Sleeping <t>

Similar to the first one, it Swiftcasts + Sleep, and again lets the party know what's happening.

Maybe not so important ones:

3. - I use this when I'm focused on the tank/other group member or a mob

/micon Regen
/ac Regen <me>

It just throws a healing dot on yourself without having to switch targets.
You can also use a similar macro for Esuna in place of Regen

4. - and one I sometimes use:

/micon Virus
/ac Virus <tt>
/ac "Eye for an Eye" <t>

Firstly it puts Virus on my target's target. So if you're on the tank it will go to the tank's target, then it puts Eye for an Eye on the tank.

As a note, I put the wait as 2 in my macros. I tried with 1, but occasionally they wouldn't work correctly owing to lag etc.

Also you'll see that a single name skill does not need " " around it. But you do need these if the ability has more than one word.
For example:
Medica
"Medica II"

But the text should be at the very beginning of the macro to avoid double raise

Saying that you do it after casting it pointless, your co-heal might have Swift raise at the same time

...

The repose is only useful and working in pvp
There is no use in dungeon due to constant aoe

And who would Swift à cast like that ? If you have 1 target to stop just cast it.

Well, as you already considered PvP.. it'd be very useful to swiftcast repose in PvP so you don't get interrupted doing that, and can keep moving.

Also, I don't like having swiftcast on my raise macro (which just is a macro to notify about raising), because I tend to switch targets quite quickly, and I can swiftcast before having the dead guy selected like this.

In my first post i advice avoiding Swift stoneskin II

And said that the only macro i got on my healer are support skill macro
Virus on focus target
And EfaE on target of my target if i'm off-heal in DPS mode to protect the tank

And recently i add one more useful macro
A recast one to remain my tank that some of my skill are in cooldown and pulling more will be deadly

Yeah agreed i'm missing a word in my sentence to say "the repose one" about the macro
In pvp instant sleep is good to avoid a crazy Monk or drg

Sorry if this comes across as negative OP, but you say you are new to healing...

well my advice to you is to not macro these things together, it may seem to make things a bit easier now, but in the long run you are better just building the muscle memory using these abilities separately.
Sure divine seal and med2 go nicely together, and a lot of the time you will use them together, but there also times that you might need to save that DS and an unbuffed med2 will do.

Outside of a very narrow handful of macros, most do not work particularly well in this game

Unless you playing on pc and using some mouseover macros, theres only one, that i can think of is sometimes useful, and that one is Asylum.

basically it puts the Asylum down to your target, whether partymember or monster, it saves you prob some time but its only sometimes.
Theres also a notification macro for ressing, so your partner and you don't res someone twice, mind to use swiftcast before if you have it.

/micon Raise
/ac Raise <t>
/p Raising <t>

Otherwise i cant think of any usefull macros atm, unless you want to go with <tt> dps-macros so you dont need to swap targets, which still slows you down by half a second or so. Hope that helps.

I'd place the least important lines at the very bottom of the macro:
/action "Asylum" <t>
/macroicon "Asylum"

The macro reading speed is supposedly tied to your frame rate. Not like it matters much, but it's something!

I'd side with this generally.
Now I do have macros and a couple for me work well. Those tend to be Swiftcast + skill, (Res, Med II) which are used in oh heck situations.
But normal play is as you say, near automatic movements from hours & hours of playing.

On a side note OP, I have a programmable gaming mouse (7 buttons). Now this is an entirely personal choice of course, but for me it works wonders.
