Story continuity problem.

Hi, I wanted to post this to hopefully get some attention on an issue that has been bothering me and others I am assuming as well.

With the current rate content is released, I find it extremely hard to keep up to date with the story. One of the most important parts of this game.

I find by the time the next content patch rolls out, Ive almost nearly forgotten what happened prior.

I envy new players almost, with all the continuous and uninterrupted MSQ that they get to do. (as much of a pain it is to get 1-60 for a new player.)

I once took a break for a year and when I came back it was one of the best times I had in this game, because there was so much story to follow.

I would really like it if they would simply release larger story patches, fewer times per year and when they release new ones, have them start a new story. Its really hard to keep up with whats going on with months inbetween patches and what seems like days to my character (story wise).

You could refresh your memory by visiting your unending journal in the Inn room a day or so before patch? ^^

Hm... actually hadnt thought of that. Its a good idea, I will try haha.. but still not a final solution.

Maybe they could add a summary? After you finish a Main Story Questline of a patch, you get a page with a summary of that patch.

I know it's not really the same issue, and also I only have myself to "blame", but having some of the dungeons locked into the MSQ... on patch day, I was a few hours behind my friends logging in, and they were already saying they were going to do the new dungeons. Doing the new dungeons together with my friends is one of the best things about patch day, so I just tore through the story just to get them unlocked so we could run together.

I know it's not an issue, as if I felt that strongly about it, I could've just waited, or asked my friends to wait

It is a better solution than your option. You are essentially asking for less content, and I don't think anyone wants that. Read the book to refresh yourself, it's not difficult.

Dungeons tied to msq is one thing i dislike, as said, people rush the story to get to them.

I like to take my time with the story and want new dungeons to do but i can't do both.

For the most part, the dungeons aren't even that far into the story. I think the latest patch, Sohr Khai was only like 30-45 minutes into the MSQ. Even then, the currently cycle is one dungeon through MSQ, one dungeon you can unlock directly (assuming you completed the normal mode for it and their associated quests). If you haven't completed the normal mode, then that is kind of on you as they have been out for over a year.

The journal sucks. Either we need others means to see where we left off, or they need to rework it. It's a mess.

Yeah, a recap would be nice.
I usually read the last entry in the MSQ journal because I can't remember where was the last place I visited, so I can go back to pick up the new quest and continue.

MSQ always starts in you main HUD. Like 2.0, it's the Waking Sands, 2.1-2.55 it was in Mor Dhor. 3.0-3.3 it's in the house with the guard station'd right outside in The Last Vigil area.

It's not that obvious when you're coming straight from the 2.0 MSQs.
All I knew is I had to go pick up the starting quest for the previous two patches. Before I always had one sitting in my Journal, so I could simply hit 'View map', and teleport there.

But I appreciate the tip :) Still, I remember the 3.1 quest being inside the Fortemps Manor (wouldn't show up on the map), and the 3.2 one was just outside the door. So you kind of have to remember where the last NPC was.
