What if SE did a sort of second part to the promotion where we got themed weapons for glamour?
Have things like serving trays for the Paladin's shield, feather dusters to replace Ninja daggers or a mop for Dragoon's lance?

It may be a while before we get stuff like that again. All the Amazon promotion did was remind SE the playerbase can't be trusted with nice things. They did something for their JP players, we whined for months about how unfair it was, they gave us a way and players did what they do and exploited it. Not trying to White Knight it, just stating what it is.
I personally don't care but the way deals like that are done, basically the 1st company (SE) agreed to provide codes in exchange for the 2nd company's (Amazon) storefront. This act is called consignment, SE agreed to "sell" codes on Amazon's site as added bonuses to boost Amazon sales, in exchange for that SE agreed to a % of the sell to be paid to Amazon.
Example: SE agrees to add the code to a Playtime card already bought from SE by Amazon for retail sell, in order to boost the sale of that item. Assume the card was a $20 card. SE agrees to a profit split with Amazon for he right to sell the code on the site as a bonus. I don't know the real numbers but for the sake of argument we will say 80/20 split. So every card sold for $20, Amazon got $16 and SE got $4.
Now let's say it was a bigger item, say a $60 preorder, as that was the usual exploit. So Amazon got $48 for the preorder, and SE got $12, but uh oh.... the preorder was canceled. Amazon is fine as it still has the game to sell, but since the code was released to the player, per their deal, SE has to pay Amazon $12 because thats the deal. If the item is canceled, the transaction happened, and by US law, which is what rules in this situation, the item in question on consignment still requires the fee for placement in the storefront, hence $12.
So every pre-order canceled was money out of SE's pocket. Depending on the split and the most likely high price of some of the items preordered, we are talking a serious loss. People will most likely be fired over this all be it quietly.
I mean that's what this game has become. Everything gets replaced faster than Speedy Gonzalez in this game so it's all about glamours lol.
They already have the kettle knuckles so this wouldn't be that weird.
That would be nice...if we EU players had it. We're still missing our chance to get it (I think?)
But sure if it's just a glamour that would work.
Because it is a monk weapon. Only monks get the weird weapons

1st I would like to see 1st part of the promotion - Eu and the rest of the world says hi.
2nd It would be for the best to stop exclusive promotional glamour. Every promotional item should go straight to the mog station. Should be enough that promotion is free, no need to gimp players who can't get their hands on these items coz of the region issues.
I'm just amazed SE hit it off with Amazon, so quickly and for a promotion that covers nearly the entire gaming section.
More stuff that EU and AUS players wont get?
3 weeks and still no news on when we are getting ours, if we are getting ours.
As much as im against the exploit what you're saying doesn't make sense. Profits on a sale from amazon go to the seller maybe amazon gets q cut. however Square can't get profits from IP they don't own. This deal was on anything in video games section so I highly doubt square is paying money for every preorder canceled. Ex. I bought a gaming keyboard which has nothing to do with square and I highly doubt they profited from it.
People keep saying that SE is put off by the promotion. There is zero evidence of that as far as I can see.
I just want to wear the butler outfit on my female character... :(
First and foremost, you are mistaken. SE would not have to pay Amazon a cent over pre-order cancellations for an unsold product. Pre-orders do not qualify in the same manner as other retail merchandise because they are essentially a reservation. This is why you're able to cancel them up to a certain date, as companies haven't even ordered the product yet. That being said, SE would never enter a deal where they were on the hook regardless. The arrangement would likely be based on net profit after the promotion ends or a lump sum agreed upon beforehand. Of course, this is all conjecture since no one can know for certain. But those are usually how these types of promotions work to protect everyone involved.
Nevertheless, we need to stop vilifying NA over JP. They had a different promotion that couldn't allow for this kind of loophole. If it did, you'd see a similar issue. With that in mind, companies anticipate this type of exploitation. Few care because the vast majority of people will buy something. Such is why Amazon opened the promotion to their entire video game department right around E3.
I sincerely doubt either SE or Amazon were in anyway hurt. In fact, I wager they are quite happy with the net profit this promotion brought them.
