I need help in making a 3 star rotation.

As the title says I need a 3 star rotation for making the Ironworks crafting and gathering gear. I have been practicing on one and I just seem to be having a lot of bad luck, or I am just being really dumb. I tried to change my 2 star rotation but nothing I do seem to do work. I really need any help I can get.

My Stats are: Craftsmanship 899, Control 842 and CP is 402.(No food)

The rotation I am trying to change from a 2 star to a 3 star is.


Use HQ baked onion soup
Muscle Memory
comfort zone
Steady Hand 2
Ingenuity2
Rapid synthesis twice
Hasty touch in-till 10 durability
Master Meld 2
Steady Hand 2
Comfort Zone
Waste Not 2
Hasty Touch 3 times
Steady Hand 2
Hasty Touch 5 times
Steady Hand 2
Hasty Touch
Great Strides
Byregot's Blessing
Careful Synthesis 2

Note If able to tack any Trick of the trade replace any Hasty touch with a Precise Touch. If no Good happen just replace the last Hasty Touch with a Basic Touch.

If it helps I am able to put on the level 2 craftsmanship and control FC buffs.

so basicly after your first Carefull Synthesis 2 you check your Progress.
i would recommend to start from 3k+ HQ.

if Progress after first carefull synthesis >1632

Ya the rotation I use is very similar to Hobbit's so that should work for you no problem.

Hey Hobbit care if I ask you a question about your rotation the?

I have gone 12/12 so far on the 3.3 crafting/gathering left side clothing so far. With this rotation, whoever you get for CS2, triple it. That is the minimum difference between current Progress and finish that you want to get. If you get 123 per CS2, that triples to 369. Subtract that from the 1600someodd Progress on a 3 star recipe, and that is your goal for the MaMa phase. Your numbers may vary somewhat from mine.

Maker's Mark, Comfort Zone, Steady Hand, Piece by Piece, Piece by Piece, Flawless Synthesis, Flawless Synthesis, Flawless Synthesis. I think I could afford two or three(?) missed MaMa charges on FS fails or Tricks use. After MaMa fades, Comfort Zone, Inner Quiet, Careful Synthesis 2, Careful Synthesis 2, Steady Hand 2, Waste Not, Hasty Touch x4, Master's Mend 2, Steady Hand 2, Hasty Touch x5, Byregot's Finisher, Careful Synthesis 2.

Basically, it's a modified Rath's Rotation. I avoid putting IQ inside the MaMa to avoid wasting that charge. I avoid hitting CZ a second time during the MaMa for that same reason. And I only get two CZ's overall. But, so far, it's worked well, I don't get too many NQ refined 3 star materials with that, and I've get to NQ a piece of gear.

sure just go for it usally i add a ingenuity 2 after the last SH2 to get more HQ and a bigger CS2 so i can have more fails on Flawless and still use the 11x Hastys under SH2 and one 50/50 Hasty :3 mostly always because i have more CP ^^
this roation will work on every 2 star , 3star and it will work on 4star because the progress scaled to the total ammount the only thing is var is CS2 :3
so the basic of this roation is after your first CS2 you take your total progress and add the progress from the last CS2 if it will be more than the total difficulty 1764 you do a Hasty if less your do CS2 =)

Thanks for the Help with the rotation when I have all the mats together I will give it a go. I have never used Makers mark before so it will be interesting to give it a go. Quick question on the rotation above do I have to do Flawless Synthesis 14 times or 14 times without failing anyof them?

its not really matter you just use it 14 until you run out your stacks :3 basicly you can have 3x fails usally i prefer to do ING or ING2 so you can have more fails but you dont have enough CP for
just keep follow this until you press the first CS 2 than you need check your currently progress and do a little bit math ^^ just check your chat log how much progress add by the first CS2 and just add this to your currently progress if it will be bigger than the total total difficulty 1764 than you have to do a Hasty if it less just do a CS2 again easy peasy ^^

That's actually where experience helps. If you know how much a CS2 (and maybe a CS2 under Ing 2) gives, and you know how many CS2's you are going to be doing after the MaMa phase, then you can determine your target Progress for the MaMa phase. And that lets you determine how many MaMa charges you can use on things other than FS. Four or five non-FS charges are a given - SH, CZx2, PbPx2. Some are random (FS fails) others are matters of opportunity (Tricks).

i will not suggest to use CZ 2x times while MaMa buffs up :3
because if you get enough progress and can finish the craft with only 2x CS2 you can have one 50/50 Hasty addtional which really worth :rolleyes:

well after the first CS2 you can see how much progress it bring and choose how you follow your roation (more progess or more HQ)

Ok might be a dumb question but here goes why do you have steady hand 2 on before Piece by Piece? Would it not be better for that to go after as Piece by Piece can not fail?

PbP only has a 90% success rate, so it can fail.

No worries! Most people that I know don't use Steady Hand II before PbP, they save the few CP and just use Steady Hand. Save SHII for the Hasty Touch phases.

ok here is another question is there any crafts I can do as a cheap way of practicing this one? Like how the Sewing Thread is a good way of practicing the 2 star crafts.

I honestly can't think of one that doesn't require Eso mats. If you don't mind spending Eso, these recipes would be things like Eikon Cloth, Eikon Leather, High Mythrite Ingot, Eikon Iron Ingot.

Quite honestly, the difference between a 2 star and a 3 star recipe is small. You have more Progress you have to make, but the two PbP's cover a good chunk of the difference. You get a little less Progress with a CS2, so the number of allowable lost MaMa charges may go down slightly. Otherwise, it's the exact same thing. Practicing on 2 star recipes like the Sewing Thread IS practicing for 3 star recipes, for all intents and purposes, as long as you understand the minuscule differences.

Excellent point! What Roth says is very true. I basically use the same rotation whether it be 1-star Astral Oil or 3-star Eikon Cloth (with the small progress difference).

Using SH with PbP cannot fail, so I'm not really sure what you're talking about.

Also for the cloth and the ingot I used NQ mats only. I do have HQ mats but I wanted to dry run with the NQ mats.

And for the record I used the Level 2 craftsmanship and Control FC buffs.

just a suggestion.
i have seen you use multi times Trick of T. while Markers Mark keep in main you Progress only 126 with CS2 which means you only can fail 3 times each ToT you take is count as a fail.
when you have more CP you can add after the last SH2 a ING 461 CP or even a ING2 472 CP which will give you more progress on last CS2 and will allow you to have more fails on MaMa.

Ok so here is the next big question. How should I meld my gear?

well this question we all asking ourself but until the new cap stats not out we cant tell you what really needed, most ppl just go for the maximum but sure it will be not needed at the end.
i suggest always to go FULL CP ^^
