Magic Bucket = Pure of RNG?

I literally spend almost 600 Brute Leech to catch this yet I still can't get it. My Gathering/Perception is 598/466. Snagging is ON. Yet I still can't catch this. Help? :(

Bad luck some ppl are going like 1000+ casts

Where exactly is it found? I know I spent ages getting the Giantpole but accidentally caught the turtle whilst trying to get something else!

I am having no luck on this one either, 600+ casts, had it on the line many many times but gets away.

Things make me rage with this minion is when there's person who just come and fishing beside me... And suddenly this person after some cast got big pull and caught Magic Bucket! :mad: RNG at it's finest huh?

i can see: you are not a fisher^^ the magic bucket is pretty easy to catch. i wish it was way harder, a worthy reward for a REAL fisher. but nope, every guy with a fishing rod can catch it within a few hours. and even then they are complaining...

You don't know that I even catch it until it says "The fish sense something amiss. Perhaps it is time to try another location." I can wish it's harder, but not this time :mad:

I got it at exactly 47 casts with 614/484, with a few of those being messed up because I forgot snagging.

I got it on my first cast. I'll show myself the door now.

I got it after around 150 casts, and my stats are 626 gathering, 519 perception.
My bf that has similar stats, is going over 200 casts and still haven't caught it.

While we were both fishing, a friend (still in the white gear with barely a meld) sat himself next to us and caught it after 12 tries...

about 280 castst until i got it

I just did my 300th, nothing.

I got it after 125 casts at 771/625 stats with Brute Leech and Snagging.

493 casts, but I finally caught it. My Husband went 300+.

At random a frog jumps out. I thought I was crazy at first so I patiently waited for ages until I was able to screenshot it for real :)

40ish casts. It's a big pull animation so ignore everything else. Use Chum and Cordials to speed up the process.

That aside, yeah, RNG.

470 leeches later, finally got it.

Late update, but I already got it after I upgrade some 150 to 170 and in 4 casts I gt this damn magic bucket -_- . Nice RNG SE.

Took me about 130 casts with brute leeches to land my bucket. I already get compliments on the minion from people. I'm glad that is untradeable/unsellable...its a nice tip of the hat to those who leveled their fisher to 60.

and a punch in the face for all the fishers who actually play the class and want something to make money with. and then it is not even a real reward, like i said, it takes no effort and everyone can get it within a few hours. it would have been the perfect reward for the new big fish achievement...

even the Assassin Fry is harder to get...

Why would it need to be hard to get?
The number of Lv60 Fishers is already quite low compared to other classes, so I don't mind having a little reward just for the sake of it.

Besides, I actually had someone asking me questions about that minion in private, mostly how to get it and if it was hard to obtain or not... and after answering these questions, that person seemed motivated to level up its Fisher class. If this reward was harder to get, maybe that person would've gave up.

the thing is: since 3.0 there is not one single usefull fish where you need some good gear or... skill is not the word, let's say patience for xD
so, a fisher has invested millions in his gear at the launch of 3.0, to get all the 170 stuff and materia, lvled the desynthesis to maximum, got all the folklore books - in the end he spent many time and gil to be on top of all the other, say casual fishers. but you can't do anything with it. the fisher spent the time and gil for nothing. No usefull crafting recipes wich needs high lvl fish, no new awesome stuff drom desynthesis - nothing.

sooo, now compare this to the crafting classes. a crafter who invested a lot of time and millions of gil in his gear expect to get some new recipes wich are hard to make too. let's say he has invested in a i190 set right now. what do you think would happen when square decies: nah, it's unfair for all those casual crafters to make the new recipes that hard, let's just implement more 1 and 2 star recipes and nothing else.

sure, a crafter is harder and more expensive to gear, but this exactly happens with the fisher. retribution staff? magic bucket? aethersands? ... you don't need any good gear or folklore books or high desynthesis for that... so... for what have i invested all the work and time?

normally i would invest time and work in the new i190 gear, but i don't see the point. motivate new people to become a fisher is one thing. but square should not forget the people who are already fishers...

got mine the other day on my 3rd trip, think I casted more than 150 times to land the Minion, gave my spare brute leeches to my hubby and he caught his in about 45 casts so very lucky :D

I'm sorry OP but this is not hard to catch... it just take patience...

it's a straight catch with no time or weather restrictions ( this is the definition of easy when it comes to fishing )..

I caught it in about 400-500 casts, don't remember exactly. Just keep truckin'

Alsoooo Tint!!!! I couldn't agree MORE I wish it was harder to get. Something worthy of real fishers!!! You barely need any gathering at all. Come on SE where is the love for fishers? Any tom dick and harry with a fishing pole can catch this thing.

The amount of gathering needed to catch it, you don't need to be level 60. It's pretty damn low. Meaning you need to have invested almost no time in fishing. It's incredibly easy with the script system to get any of the crafting/gathering jobs to 60.

I think real level 60 fishers do deserve something that is exclusive to them considering SE has made everything we catch pretty useless.. no desynth rewards that are notable, not much that is crafted with ( a few things here and there ). Nothing like botany and mining whose spoils yield rewards in almost every direction

I got it after 88 casts on the very last remaining bait. Praise be to RNGesus.

I got mine after just 7 leeches/casts and I had only around 470-480 perception so sounds like your just having bad luck.

I'm still having no luck. Do I need the folklore tome or something? I'm 592 Gathering/ 473 Perception but I've read people with lower getting it. I'm several hundred leeches in and keep getting "the fish gets away" notices.

I don't think so but I do have all the folklore fishing books personally. I turned on snagging skill, not sure if that helped but I also only had around 470-480 perception at the time (used no food buffs either). Your fishing in right spot? South Banepool (Coerthas Western Highlands position > 21,11)? Bit surprised if you haven't caught it after that amount of brute leeches but then again I caught mine in less than 10 leeches (just good luck I think). RNG being RNG, just like when I wouldn't get a triple triad card after several hundred wins while others got it after their first win. Pretty sure same applies here with those who having bad luck.

99 casts, Big Fish/Legendary tug - I guess I'm pretty lucky!

The legendary fish (especially the rare ones that hardly bite) makes me want to weep when this happens. ; ;

But thankfully I've caught them all already, so just sitting back waiting for 4.0 ones to be just as torturous.

All fishing in general is literally 100% pure unfiltered RNG

Just seen this minion in Mor Dhona , so cute! Never seen it before... makes me want to level FSH, but I have no patience .... my husbands suggestions: "just pray to RNGesus". Yeah, says the man who has Zero DoH/DoL :'D
