How WoL may enter 4.0? [SPOILER Discussion]

On topic:

So how do you think the WoL may be entering the next Expansion area which is strongly hinted since 2.0 to be Ala Mhigo?

Will the WoL face tragedy again with a failed attempt to take back Ala Mhigo in 3.5?

Will the WoL be forced to sneak into Ala Mhigo just to have a chance at breaching this Fortress City?

Will the WoL be the one this time to make the sacrifice and find him or herself trapped in Ala Mhigo alone without any allies as a wanted person while the WoL's allies tries to find a way to reach him or her in Ala Mhigo?

Will the WoL act as the Commander of XCOM..... I mean the Ala Mhigo Resistance in Ala Mhigo and raise a Resistance against ADVENT... I mean Garleans?

Take a pick, mix, or all because I think it is going to be a mix of all of them.

I'm going for send on mission by Scions to investigate "something" then Garlians getting the drop on us, capturing us, sending us to their "Super-max" prision to await beheading (In Ala Mhigo cause were else would u need 1 after subjegating a whole nation) only to get saved my the 2 missing Scions who are working with the resistance... from there I have no clue

I expect a full scale assault by a combined Twin Adder/Maelstrom/Immortal Flames/Temple Knights (if HW completed) assault supported by Ala Mihgo Resistance forces. Only to find the Garleans in Ala Mihgo have withdrawn, the local beast tribes have summoned their primals, and a large number of allagan constructs are out of control and advancing from an ancient allagan factory complex the Garleans dug up that was buried deep beneath Ala Mihgo proper.

As things are starting to get settled that is when a large garlean invasion force will appear backed up not only by the Emperor's dreadnought flagship, but a number of additional Battleship, cruiser, and destroyer class airships leading into 5.0.

i hope we get corrupted somehow.... and end the 3.0 as warrior of darkness...that would be AWESOME

then the scions trio to "save" the player and bring him/her to the light ! with the help of Midgardsorm?

tired of saving every1 all the time and being the "good" ... i want to be bad for at least 1 patch! :P

Well we don't really know the WoD 's goal yet.

They neither support Hydaelyn nor Zodiark and have kept their goal a secret with them only saying that their goal relates to the truth about the world.

For all we know the WoD may a group of Good guys and we are the bad guys leading the world to its doom as people begin to blindly worship the WoL as the Champion of Eorzea.

WoL is good, WoD are bad. I know is very sexy and cool the bad guys are badasses, but they are bad. Their gestures, they acts, they willing to kill everyone. Did you see the Cutscene after kill Nidhogg? The expresion of the dark Paladin Roegarding observign the place where Nidhogg eyes fall? The Dark Derplander attemp to kill Alisaie? They are not only bad, they are truly evil. Square Enix will never put us in the evil role. Even on FFIV at the beggining we were tha bad guys, and Cecil decide to rendem himself.

As for the thread, I will think will be similar to Ishgard more or less. On 3.5 or maybe at the beggining of 4.0, we will have a massive fight in Ala Mhigo city. We will kick Empire for that place, and start rebuild the city, establishing this city as the core of the expansion (as was Ishgard for the 3.0). Now Gaius is death, probably the XIVth legion is more weak without their leader, the perfect timing to kick one for all the Empire from Eorzea.

I never said the WoL would stay evil if our character been unknownling working for the real antagonist.

With everything still at the "hush hush" stage of their plans we can't assume everything is what it seems. Heck we still don't even know who are the WoD considering we saw them fight the Ascian in a Echo vision and Primal directly yet they side with Elidibus to completing a unknown goal as a third party conflicting with both Hydaelyn and Zodiark.

So far the story been straight forward being...

Hydaelyn = Good, Savior of the people, happy world, and Land of Light.

Zodiark = Evil, destroyer of hope, world of chaos, and Land of Darkness.

However, what is this third party and what Truth do they know about the world that they would fight Ascians, Primals, and Warrior of Light while also willing to kill anyone from learning about their plans. That answer we are most likely not going to get until 4.0.

We also must remember that the WoD did not know who Alisaie is so assuming she was a enemy spy is a natural assumption made to protect their secret alliance and plans from falling into any enemy hand.

I wonder if the "darkness" that Thordan saw when he died was the "corruption" that the WoL had in him/herself due to achieving "power that tresspasses on the realm of gods" as stated by Elidibus.

More importantly, I wonder if Unukalhai's revelation of former heroes getting corrupt due to using the power of captured gods is happening to us? While we're not using the primal's power we are killing primals/ Eikons all the time and surely some of their dissipated aether is making their way to the WoL? That is how summoner's are able to summon egis of primal they defeated, afterall. Surely some of that corrupted aether is making it's way to the WoL, slowly building up? Maybe Hydaelyn plans on possessing the WoL eventually?

I guess there'll be a cliffhanger ending just like 2.55, I just hope we won't be split off from the rest of the group. With the events of Dragonsong War, I wonder if Ul'dah will face a similar revolution, too?

The saviour goes dark trope might be an enjoyable change of pace if it did it'd probably only last half of the first patch though as these things never last.
To make it stick any length of time we'd need to critically injure one of the scions which would of course lead to the "are they saveable" plot device with half of them wanting you dead.

That all seems pretty meta for SE, though.

Here are my speculations...

• Estinen returns to the main storyline after wandering the rest of the world on a much needed vacation.
  
• During his travels, troubling news will reach him that the Garleans have now spread their tentacles to Meracydia and Thavnair in order to secure a new source of "ancient power".
  
• What this ancient power is will be part of the mystery for the 4.0 storyline but it ties into Bahamut's children from Meracydia.
  
• Solving these riddles could also pave the way for being able to summon a now benevolent version of Bahamut in the future on the Summoner job class.
  
• What will be really awesome is to have Bahamut as a mount reward for completing the story missions.
  
• He is mainly used in skirmishes and small ongoing battles with the Garlean forces... which should tie in very very nicely with Yoshi's comment that the further ranks within the Grand companies should be very meaningful and could involve being able to command a large number of NPCs (now THAT will be extremely epic).
  
• In addition, Estinien he has heard that his "little brother" Alphy is rebuilding Sharlayan as a new home for the Scions and as a launching point to formally liberate Ala Migho from Iiberd (and his army of mercenaries). Thus, he decides to join the Scions.
  
• Raubhan, Aymeric and Merlwyb will enter the foray to liberate Ala Migho when it becomes obvious that the WoD are now in cohoot with Ilberd and are pulling the strings. Perhaps they have Nidhogg's eyes and are now using it to summon Zodiark... who knows what that guys are always planning?
  
• That said though, by this time Nanamo will surprise everyone and have a very sizable military force of very loyal supporters made up of the Ala Mihgo refuges (who she has generously been providing for their welfare by using Adeledji and Lolorito's seized wealth).

So yeah... this is the world that I speculate our Warrior is Light is likely to find himself in for 4.0. In the meantime, our shiney new Emperor Varis is using this pause in time to build an army of Omega riders.

Which brings us to expansion 5.0:

• The Garlean people are tired of the constant wars and discontent has began to grow within the aristocracy who are now split down the middle.
• One side wants to keep pushing the war effort while the other side wants peace so that they can secure the empire's borders (in real life history, this is actually one of the core issues that plagued ancient Rome).
• Alliances are fragile, civil war is about to break out, their economy is collapsing and more of the empire's conquered territories are trying to revolt.

Our old acquaintance Nero then sees this as an opportunity... of sorts... I still haven't yet figured out what his part in all this could be. But its possible he does seek out the help of Cid and the WoL to aid him in saving the Garlean empire from imploding.

And in the midst of all this, the remnants of the House of Darnus continues to quietly plot for a way to reestablish themselves. Just think about it carefully: after all that happened with Nael, would his surviving relatives sit idly by and not try to continue his insane plans?

Btw, mount reward for the 5.0 storyline should be the Ultima Weapon. Yeah...I'm still shamelessly campaigning for this. True story.

Given that Thancred saved Alisaie in the West Shroud (It would be West Shroud right? Didn't play 1.0), it'll probably be her filling us in on certain things...which will also cause some drama since she knows that Urianger has been meeting with Elidibus. We MIGHT explore the West Shroud in either 3.4 or 3.5 as part of a Duty, with 4.0 being us either sneaking or spearheading an assault into Ala Mhigan territory.
