+ most of the top 100s are doing PVE thangs, taking a break to preserve their rank, Shatter, etc.
Having server transferred and lost my rank, I'm eager to go back in Feast and grind it back up. I did 10 games so far before patch but now I'm stuck with balancing the new content, the new relic and studying for my mid-terms.
I see they haven't taken out the eso rewards from Feast and from the looks of it, it seems like it's a much bigger grind than in 3.3. I know not many Feasts are being played currently, but can anyone testify if people have been throwing games?
Every one knew feast was going to slow down a lot with the patch, though I didn't expect it to be completely dead like it is. It might pick up a bit once they announce when 3.35 comes out and the season comes to an end (if it's anything like usual, it should be 5 weeks from now), but it adds credence to the argument that it should have ended with 3.3.
On primal the rankings are way too tight starting from mid to bottom for feast to stay dead all the way through till 3.35. Once they announce the release date for 3.35 more than half of the top 100 most likely gonna be forced to play simply because there just isn't enough separation in points. Case in point #47 currently has 1149 points while #100 has 1030. That's only a 119 point difference which is nothing. Especially considering the fact that just before the patch hit the minimum amount of points to get into the top 100 was rapidly rising again (for weeks the late 990s was enough to get in and in the span of like 3 or 4 days it finally not only eclipsed 1k points but went up to 1030 points (and will likely keep climbing later on). I'm still of the opinion if you have less than 1150 points you do not have the points to be able to safely just retire and ride out the season and will most likely have to feast again later on whether you want to or not to remain in the top 100.
Whether you ended the season at 3.3 or 3.35 seems irrelevant to me because even if you ended the season at 3.3 you would still have to wait a week or 2 to start the new feast. New PVE content will always supercede PVP even for the most hardcore of PVP'ers usually. So if you are gonna suffer this dead period in feast regardless you may as well let it end at 3.35 and give ppl outside the top 100 a shot at getting in later.
Funny you'd give your example starting with rank #47 given that's me xD.
In the past month, rank 100 was going up 10-20 points at most a week, sometimes less. I seriously doubt it'll move up by over 100 in the 2-3 weeks after they announce 3.35 is coming, if we even get that much of a heads up. Considering that at that rating, losses start costing more than wins gives you (all depending on how "balanced" your match is), you'll need 5 more wins than losses to get that, and all those people are going to be fighting each other. I simply don't see 50 people getting that many points that fast, especially with a reduced number of matches going on.
We all know that PvE has more importance than PvP for a huge portion of the player base, and I think that's exactly why it should have ended with a major patch (3.3). There is a lot more time for people to clear the smaller amount of new content in a minor patch during the long period before the next major patch in opposition to clearing the bigger amount of new content from a major patch before the next small patch hits shortly after. Players with less time on their hands had a much better opportunity to compete for a final rush right before 3.3 hit because they had plenty of time to finish all they had to before. Now when 3.35 hits, they'll have to make choices between working on PvE or PvP. And all that is leaving aside that with the addition of Shatter, the PvP community is now split.
Unless a bunch of people decide collectively to not sit on their ranks then I don't see the bottom of at least aether going up by 100 points. Breaking past the current barrier of over 1k is going to be hard enough for those at the sub top 100
It's so dead I wait for over 3 hours for 4 on 4 to pop.
Well at least queue popped today for the first time since patch hit.
Since they are so tight it is also a pretty big gamble too. For many people if you lose 2-3 fights you are off the board, and I am not sure how many want to risk it at this point (I do not sitting at my 1125). If I lost 5 in a row (which is possible with pugs) i am completely gone, and may not get back up there in time. I am just going to sit it out unless something weird happens and I end up near the bottom.
Glad to see it dead. Learn your lesson and don't ask them to revive the Wolves' Den, ever again.
I really enjoyed it though...?
SE, Please revive Wolves' Den, it was most fun PvP in this game. :(
Yoshi P apparently confirmed 3.35 is less than a month away in E3 live letter. Expecting a resurgence in feast queues soon to knock out all the sub 1100 points ppl and scare the guys barely over 1100 into playing again. At least I'm hoping so cause shatter is just not my cup of tea. Never thought I'd say I miss feast or seize lol.
I think your hope is too high. On aether at least I regularly ran into players who had given up on top 100 and were sick of feast and a lot of people have decided its better to quit. And even then I always saw the same 10 or so players who have since then either ranked and quit or just outright quit. 8v8 pops more than 4v4 and shatter pops more than both.
I very well might be placing my hope too high. I guess we will see in time but as of tonight the queue still said over 30 min when I tried tonight on primal. As much as Feast was starting to irritate me I still did enjoy the competitive aspect of it and actually PVP'ing. I've queued a couple times for shatter but just cant get into it (in terms of interest) and seal rock is dead so atm PVP in general is dead for me. We'll see what happens the next few weeks but as it stands not even the white ADS mount motivates me to consistently queue shatter.
I know how you feel. I missed out pretty much the entire first month of s1 so I only really got to play a week or so before patch and queues were already dying then. I no lifted it for a few days for my rank but didn't get enough time to actually enjoy the mode. I don't really like shatter either but rl has kept me out of the queue. Feast had a lot of potential but between the rank sitting and lack of players the further into the month we get the more dangerous it will be for those climbing as one or two losses may not be recoverable at this point without the top 100 playing. Its just a really sad situation and shatter is a poor substitute for sealrock
total of 12 hours in queue over the past 3 days. 0 games. Looks like it hasn't come back yet.
