Fisher's complaint

Alright SE has since 2.0 said they will make Fishing a relaxing job with less reward than the other 2 more interactive DOL jobs. I understand the reason given the simplicity of the FSH mini-game lends itself well to bots taking over the MB.

However let me lament a lil bit...... SE you've hidden end game fishing behind story quest, time windows, weather, baits, stats, folklore, skills (fishing eye...etc), and location lockout if you're in a fishing location for several hours..... how much more anti-bot deterrents do you need more to add before our human fishers can get a decent return on the time we spend fishing for end game fishing??!


I'm referring to 3.2 fishes mostly. With Cul desyn skill at 220, 3.2 fishes desyn at a 70% rate and among those desyn they have nearly a 1% chance of conversing into something decent (materia V's).....1% SE come on please!! Could we at least get a 10%? Keep in mind all these fishes materias are elementals (ice, water, fire, lightning) which means we'd need 5 of them to even gamble with the goblin in hopes of getting an actual useful materia V. This is your game and you know the impact of bots way better than I do; I'm just asking if you guys have consider these petty 1-2% conversion rates based on actual exposure to RMT or if its simply a flat policy.:mad:

Heck you can do what you did with Storm Chasers; they use to desyn into Platinum coins then u patched it into gold....then u patched again into silver...clearly you saw something wrong and made adjustments. Could we get that kind of attention on these end game fishes please?:cool::confused:

You can use 1 tier v materia for a 20% chance of a tier v materia as the outcome, and an 80% chance of tier iv if you use 4 ivs with it.

I would have to say SE has fully detered rmt from fishing or at least 99%. Any actual good spots to fish at based on time of day im typically the only person at, all month infact. The bad part of this is two staged. 1) Btn/min now have access to clusters which used to be exclusive to fishers.... 2) crap ton of bots are miners and botanist.
So guess what just happened to fishers main supply outside of materia.

Fishers are just getting slapped from every direction, Id ask them to at minimum to reconsider the idiocy involved with 3.3 but they wont revert it, the least they can do is include fishers in on the same tables min/btn are getting since they have access to our clusters too.

For materia he was talking about desynth chance, not gamble chance.
1% is crud

Some kind of response to this from SE or mod would be appreciated, unless fisher is being planned on being removed from the game entirely, i think the recent decisions from SE with fishing and lack of consideration for it but give everything to min btn.....deserves attention and a response.....

Especially since the bots all go btn min, this is promoting rmt even more. Someone over there needs to take that new /eureka emote and start using it in these patch and planning meetings.

Same, i wont rule out light kissed being in a fish but its not hopeful at this point :(
All we have left is seabornes and really, who cares on those, 5-9 might sell in a whole 24 hours

Fisher was turned into an achievement collecting class it is only an honourary dol, which is why they removed crystals and gave them seperate challenge logs. Don't expect to make any gil ever; as Fisher was remade with the not making much gil and being a snoozefest as features. I was vocal on the subject back in beta and before.

Officially sure but since i came back a few months ago i was going on 1-2 mil a day using fisher only, post 3.3 ill be lucky to get 3-400. As for materia that just makes me cry inside. Im not sure where crystals were removed unless you mean access to all forms of them.
Pre 3.3 only fisher could gather ice and water clusters/crystals in reduction. It wasnt removed in 3.3 it was opened to the two bot classes.

Any recent and new or new to fisher players wont accept that either, and understandably so, cause all classes deserve equal balance.

I feel fishing has it's own niche depending on the server, I can make decent money in comparison to market prices. But there is nothing to really look forward to right now, I've caught some of the new big fish, mostly fail desynth right now at 197, but an ewer king did give me some yellow pigment.....

660 gathering seems to be the minimum target now for the big fish.

Do you even fish? I've made millions, weekly, on fishing in the past. Its how i made most of my money in this game until I started crafting a few months back.

I made 40-50 mil in one patch alone from fishing \o/. I am with you on this one :).

On the use we can make of our fish, I think we are totally at the opposite of that. Pipira Piras, Sweetfish, Retribution staff, Mussels, Coerthan Crab, Lake Urchin, Spring urchin - to only name a few recent ones - are some fish that have been truly useful, way more than it would take to make it a mere "honorable" class.

Just like abalathian salt is for miner, or porcinis for botanist, these fish are hunted like there is no tomorrow.

That said, the OP is right about gating everything behind "something", whether it is locations, weather, folkore... Even some of the FATE can potentially prevent us from fishing them sometimes (quite a bitter feeling after you've spent hours waiting for THE requiered weather)

D-synth, starting at cul at around 195-ish is a major issue as well. At this level of d-synth, we do not have ANY useless fish. Nobody wants to destroy a fish that they can sell for a good price / use for crafting. If you could craft some i195 crafting gear, for the sake of your desynth levelling, would you ?

The grade V materia could have been of some use as well, if it wasn't for it to be weather-gated (again), have a low chance of baiting (around 15% from my own experience) and a low chance of turning them into an actual materia (around 3-5%ish). This alone requieres a full day of fishing, because no one who is doing this is gonna use a 80% tier IV / 20% tier V ratio and tempt their luck with mutamix, considering all the trouble it was to get the fish to begin with.

About scrips themselves, I can understand that the fish can be harder to get - they should be. But I was the other day, like 6 hours straight. After 6 (Real-life) hours, I found out in horror that a scrip-fish had bitten and that I couldn't catch it (I wasn't fishing this one specifically and completely forgot my collector's gloves). When I checked with rowena, I found out that it was actually blue-scrips, 120ish blue scrips. Now, I'm fine with not getting that fish in particular, I can gather blue scrips with other classes easily, but to whoever has only fisher 60, this is a big fat NO WAY.

Clearly, there are some changes to be made. There aren't what I would call "major", but there are.
On a brighter side, triple yields as culinarian also benefits us, fishers. And that's a good start.

I personally get a relatively consistent catch of Coerthan crabs, Sweetfish and the urchins regardless of time and weather.

i made 5 mio just with fishing since tuesday. and i was most of the time questing, doing daylies, wiping city, capping red scrips and working on my relic...

but i can understand it. it feels like fisher always is behind miner and botanist. and why have i lvld my desynthesis to 220? xD

I am with you on the desynth front. I have mine at 220 thinking "yay, new big game fishing, time to make them explode into random swimwear again", just to find they dont give anything exciting this time around.......

Speaking of the new fish I had a few "perception is too low" snags in CWH despite having 500ish perception. I assume the legendary fish need more than that. 520 maybe?
