Unable to complete version check

Is the game down? I don't see anyone playing on Twitch, but I also don't see anything on the forums about the game being down or posts from other users about not being able to login. Please verify and point me in the right direction. Thank You.

So is this why i'm getting this error too? I mean I know there is Maint. but the launcher keeps giving a error "Unable to complete version check" Normally it still loads?

I really don't want to run into any issues when trying to get a home.. when the serves come back up ;-;

Does it really matter? The game just went down a few hours ago. and will be down for another 19 hours. The new patch most likely won't be loaded and available for download till usually few hours before game comes back up.

It sort of does... yeah . Cause if it isn't normal and a bug or issue I'd like to have it fixed before the patch even goes live. As I said, with previous patches the launcher would still load to the log in screen. Now it doesn't do that...

It doesn't load at this time because the server it uses is down. Later on, before the maintenance is completely done, that part will come back online and you will get what you are expecting.

Basically, hold your horses on calling everything a bug before people are done working on it.

Wasn't calling a bug only asking if it was normal. Thanks for the input.

Welp I'm glad I came across this thread because I thought there was something wrong with my game. :P

Is this issue still ongoing? My PS3 version worked yesterday but I cannot log in today - "Unable to complete version check [24530][503]"

If this is an update issue, and I pay monthly for daily access, do we get a refund or an extended period for unacceptably long down time?

The answer is no and will always be no, and they gave notice about this extended maintenance 2 weeks in advance, not to mention they shoved it in your face every time you logged in starting friday.

This is happening to me too? this is normal? I can even enter to the launcher.

It has never happened on a mantenience. You could enter the launcher but not the game.

This is true, i've been able to at least log into the launcher on past Maintenance, but not this one. even the 3.2 patch i could get to the launcher, this time, however, it's not even letting me do that. and about two days ago, it stopped saving my user name

Same problem here. Went to run FFXIV and unable to complete the version check. also not seen this before and normally able to get onto the log in screen. It just stays on checking updater/launcher version and I personally can't close that down...then it gives me the FFXIV boot error-unable to complete version check + a load of numbers :D

Continues. Happy to see it's not just me though ^-^ Hopefully will be fixed soon.

Least you have a long time to download it again ;] A couple of my other friends from different parts of the US have also told me their launcher does the same thing. Perhaps SE are doing things different and won't even let the launcher load. Going to stay positive. If anything maybe one of the forum GM/admins will see this and let us know if its normal or not.

well, i keep checking every so often, i've gotten plenty of error codes including a 504 (meaning the server that the launcher connects to is down) but my launcher has finally come up with the standard "cannot connect" string, so I think the servers are getting closer to being ready.

At this point the people who have sub-par internet are going to get screwed over for stuff like the housing just because they can't start downloading the patch.

First time getting this and Im glad I didn't reinstall the game like some people in other pages suggets.

Update just been able to or shall I say allowed to :D update the launcher and have got onto the log in to download the patch. servers still down ofc.

Would of been nice for SE to say this time you won't be able to enter the log in screen...making quite a few believe something was up with there PC. considering this hasn't happened like this before :)

Yes I was able to download the patch as well. Now it just says its unavail to play like it normally does.

I'm still getting a [30410][30607][20457][410] error after typing in my login details >.<

EDIT: nevermind. Updating the launcher fixed the problem. All I had to do was alter a system file to get the damn thing to update. Because I guess adding a button in the launcher that says "check for updates" is too much to ask

I don't log in that often.

This happened for both my desktop and my wife's desktop.

In my case, simply running the launcher as administrator caused the launcher itself to update properly so that I could get past logging in and downloading the patch. This approach did not work for my wife's computer.

The main difference between the two systems is that I'm running Win 7 while she's on Win 10.

I tried a few different things on her desktop from modifying that one config file, to rebooting, resetting internet files, and even changing the UAC settings. None of that worked.

What did work is copying everything under "C:\Program Files (x86)\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\boot" from my desktop to hers. This skipped having to update the launcher the normal way which let me log in and begin downloading the patch on her desktop. Granted, that's not much help to anyone who doesn't have a working copy on a different desktop like I did.

Edit: Figures that just after I posted this that someone on a PS4 version is also hitting this.

Glad that i'm not alone lol. Having the same issues :/

- Reseting Router
- Restoring licenses on PS4
- Turning off and on again
= Nothing...

I am having the same problem on PS4 nothing I do seems to work would really be helpful if SE atleast said something about this problem.

Got up at 4am eastern login and was able to download the update with no problem, I think you all were just too impatient trying to fix something that was not broken.

How did you update the launcher? Starting it on the usual way tells me "version check failed" and running it as an admin makes no difference :(

Apparently, I fixed :) I have the PS4 and PC versions.

There is a limit of how much a game can be saved on PS4. There are some files from all characters you have. Delete those file datas. Open space for the PS4 download more. I was 140/150 MB. There was lot of data from alt charas i made from a long time. But delete them and it will open space for upload/download.

Worked.



If you having problem on PC i suggest this that i saw on reddid:

- Go to(your FFXIV game file):
\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn

Open this file: FFXIV_BOOT

Change this value here from 0 to 1:
BootVersionCheckMode 0

I am at a lost I've tried everything with this and still no luck getting the game to update on PS4 guess I will just have to hope the problem fixes it's self eventually.

I'm on PS4 and was also getting a version check error when i try logging in. Was wondering why the launcher update wasn't automatically downloading before getting to the login screen. I tried a similar method to Munike's above post and cleared out my download history from notifications tab and the launcher began the update the next time ran it. What an unlikely solution but if for those also on PS4, try it out.

it doesn't work :confused:

Clearing out download history and space doesn't work on my end either. Something in SE must have really messed up when this update was pushed out.

Nope. Still got the problem. Seems the terrorists are still holding mine hostage. :mad:

I'm on PC and can't get the game to update. I'm constantly getting the following screen

I'm having the same issues with my version checker , although everyone says its due to the maintenance. But considering its taken 28 hours now i got to say this is highly inconveniencing, I only got to play 30 minutes after finishing the download and then updates before all this happened. Truly annoying.
