Monk AOE rotation help.

Hi guys, Just got monk to 60 a few days ago, ran antitower, FC tank pulls big, but because i haven't got an AOE rotation down, adds go down so slow, it made me cringe (took 20 minutes to beat dungeon, which is unacceptable). I was so embarrassed.

As soon as the pull went, i knew i was doing it all wrong but here's what i did

B4B > IR > PB > rock breaker spam with elixir field weaved in finished off with howling fist.

Just wanted to see what you guys do because i know monk has great AOE dps.

edit: the team consisted of a warrior, summoner, white mage (did 0 dps >_>) and me the monk.

You sure the SMN wasn't at fault? That rotation sounds pretty solid, not much else you can do....also a 20 min antitower is actually not terrible. The fastest I've ever seen is 16 minutes.

I usually do something like this:
Form Shift x2 (IR) > Twin Snakes (BfB) > Rockbreaker (PB) > Rockbreaker > Rockbreaker > (Elixir) Rockbreaker (Howling) > Rockbreaker > Rockbreaker...

The placement of IR and BfB varies, I weave them in wherever to be honest. I keep 5 chakra stacks for Purification as well as popping Invigorate around 550 TP. For when I don't have PB I just replace any coeurl form attack in my single target rotation with a rockbreaker.

No idea if this is actually decent or not lol.

So if you're looking for an aoe opener then I'm not entirely sure whats best but I'd assume it consists of simply replacing every snap/ demo with rockbreaker and removing ToD from the rotation. I see it as being kinda pointless to worry about doing an opener on trash as opposed to saving it for the boss. As far as the rotation goes, it's the same simple concept. Replace every Coeurl hit with rockbreaker and consider using arm of the destroyer on 5+ enemies. There's literally nothing else to it as far as I'm aware. Now if you just need tips on monk rotation in general then there are a lot of different tips to give

I think you r too critical. We don't have much else than what u do..

Way I do it is as follows:
DK>Twin>RB (PB) RB (IR) RB (B4B) RB (EF) RB (HF) RB
Then keep using RB as finisher.

I would guess the problem is not specifically one of your making if taking too long. MNK is just 'okay' for multi-target fighting in my opinion but that is not where it excels as a class in general, it sounds more like a party wide issue and not specifically as issue with you if adds not going down fast enough. You said the SMN and WHM did zero DPS, SMN and WHM can throw out some DPS too for example instead of just standing around waiting for you to kill them all.

Usually I prep AoE by form shift demolishing adds that the tank pulls together along the path to build stacks while generating little enmity. Then DK > TwS > RB > PB > RB x5 (weave oGCD starting with B4B) Purification > AotD AoEs until invigorate is used. I also weave mantra for the tank during RB spam

I would give credit to the WHM and WAR, too.

Quickest I've done was 15 mins pretty much to the second with me as MCH, boyfriend as BLM and a PUG WHM and WAR.

The worst run I've ever had was yesterday in an all PUG. The BRD couldn't have been pulling more than 300-400 peaked and the AST wasn't using cards or DPSing at all. I actually felt upset. I stopped looking at the timer by the time we had half killed the first boss when most PUGs I've been with would have been entering the final boss room.

oh yeah both the war and my whm friends were pulling 800 and 900+ dps respecfully
