If you don't buy it someone else will. Think about yourself.
It's gonna be a bloody fight anyway. In your place I'd go for the medium. Free companies have the same features in a medium and small house, for them it's mainly about rooms and airships, you only get the house.
Why should think for others? This is like limited amount of land available and people won't care feeling bad to other FC...
Agreed, land will probably be gone fast. Get a medium so you do not regret it later on :)
It so nice to seen someone thinking about FC that don't have houses :)
I know I should say "go on, buy one" but, as GM of an homeless FC it would be hypocrit to say that and think "I hope he won't" so i'll just thank you for the kind thought ^^"
I like you and i had the same thought. but!!!!!! Think for urself!!
Im planning for a small cuse im a lala and i like making small rooms feel big.
Morally? The case is clear: Don't buy a private house at all. Far more people will benefit from a FC house than from a private house and the bonus of airships and their ventures creates more overall benefits to the community.
However, since our western culture is based on the principle of selfishness (Thanks, Adam Smith), you'd be a real uncool outsider if you did that. You might as well conform with a clear conscience.
I did not know at all about Adam Smith oO, thank you Zojha for teaching me something :)
The FCs have the same chance to get the house as you do come patch day. If you can get a medium plot and that is what you want go for it.
i know but i wish there were a unlimited amount of housing so my brain wouldnt have to think about this
Yeah, there's someone on my server with tons of houses by using alts to buy them. I wouldn't worry about it. Most people only think about themselves anyways.
The real culprit here is SE for having a questionable housing system where they lumped FCs and personal together with limited availability.
In this case I guess my deterrent would be if you already have a home. If so then either way your still taking a plot that an FC or person could use and as one mentioned the FC get all the uses, they just have a smaller house to decorate. So I'd choose whatever you want.
do it whilst you can. Or you'll only regret it later.
i'm looking for a small specifically myself, it's going to be a mad rush race to get one.
You just take care of you! Some crazy people will be buying 8 houses for all 8 characters on their account or something. I know people like that... You might as well go claim yours.
I am lucky that I already have a house that I can just sit and watch the land rush craziness and not participate... :x
As far as morality goes. It's all subjective. People can argue you that you don't deserve one or whatever but in the end people are just going to take care of their own business. Often people don't practice what they preach anyway. I'll play the devil's advocate here...lol If you listen to people say you should wait or something, well I'm sure they will be showing off their brand new personal house to you later with glee. Always question other people's motives in video games...lol
If you want a medium then buy a medium house, FCs still get the same benefits even if they buy a small house only thing different is the space it has.
My FC has a small cottage and really it's more than enough for us (very cozy). Also consider that small plots cost considerably less than medium plots so smaller newer FCs might go after small plots over medium for that very reason.
Treat yourself and get the house you want. (˘v˘ )
OP, get yourself a medium while you can! If you don't you'll only end up regretting it because there will be plenty of other people buying up all the plots with no concern regarding others' needs. Gotta look out for Number 1 before you worry about anyone else. I commend your thoughtfulness regarding being willing to settle with a small so a FC could have a medium!
If you take a small, you might be taking a house from someone who can only afford a small. Take what you can afford if that's what you want.
If can afford a medium, buy a medium.
If the question you were considering were whether to buy a house or not, then considering FCs would be valid. (It wouldn't be the deciding factor for very many people, but your concern would make sense.)
However, if you're considering buying a small instead of a medium, that doesn't benefit FCs trying to get a house. If anything it could do just the opposite, since judging by past ward openings, it's the small plots that are in highest demand and sold out first. You might settle for buying a small rather than a medium and just cause a small newish FC that doesn't have twenty million gil saved up to go homeless because the only plots left for them are medium and large when they can only afford a small.
It's actually more beneficial to other potential buyers if you move away from the most popular size that will sell out first towards the less popular sizes that will remain available for quite a while. And in this market that generally means getting the biggest one you can afford is the polite way to buy one.
OP, it's your Gil, you earned it, which is harder for one person to do on their own, as compared to a group of people in an FC.
Go buy the medium you want ASAP, and start reading Ayn Rand.
Don't see why you all are questioning the OP's feelings on the matter. Not that hard to spot or understand a considerate nature
I'd say go for the medium if you want the medium. FYI however there are more perks with bigger houses that do benefit FCs with multiple people. Bigger houses allow for additional crafting stations, more of the housing npcs and additional garden space (flower pots can't cross). It won't kill an FC not to have those things, but they are certainly nice things to have.
