Already being discussed in the other two Palace of the Dead threads.
Yeah, everyone are just making assumptions based on a pair of female legs and a crazy laugh. It could be anyone. Also Tam Tara HM was mean to be her 'wedding'.. which we kind of put a stop to. No, if that really is her, she would just be a plain old regular monster now that we will have to send back to the aether as usual.
I'm more worried about the sucubi following the team around... it is following them right? like a ally NPC or player morphed
My understanding of Deep Dungeons, based on what's been said until now, is that the Palace features its own progression system, completely independent of everything else in the game (save that initial lv17 entry requirement). So even if a later floor required a certain level to beat it, it would be a Deep Dungeon Level (or whatever), thereby not guaranteeing familiarity with Edda's saga.
I would not be surprised if in her despair Edda sought a way to commune with the dead and receive direction (or peace of mind) from Avere and followed rumors of a Necromancer to the Palace of the Dead. Upon meeting the girl certain ideas were planted in Edda's head, the knowledge of the how and where she could pull off what she truly sought in the deepest darkest corners of her heart and mind. Leading to Edda eventually becoming what we saw in deepcroft HM.
If what I read is true Edda back in 1.0 was a Necromancer, and you went on a quest to turn her away from necromancy to a better path. In the despairing state she was in it would not of been hard to remind her of her necromantic powers by someone who could recognize what she was capable of.
If they want wedding why don't just go to church at East Shroud and have Eternal Bonding rather making trouble at player? ._.
Joke aside, I bet it's plot twist.
Could be some wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff. Edda's Dark Magicks (tm) screwed up the dungeon so bad that entering it, whether before or after you ran Tam Tara (Hard), will take you back to the time when Edda was studying how to revive Avere.
So, enter as a fresh level 17: You continue directly on from Edda's cutscenes after Tam Tara normal.
Enter as a veteran who's completed Tam Tara (Hard): The warped time within the Halls of the Dead draw you back to when Edda was dealing with her grief in inadvisable ways.
Yeah I don't recall her in 1.0 at all. Strange how such a rumour would begin.
This is a wild guess but I wouldn't be surprised if that rumour was started by someone who just got Edda confused with the later part of the 1.0 Ul'dah storyline when Minfilia's deceased father Warburton was meant to be brought back from the dead via necromancy to uncover a plot-relevant piece of info. But that's just a big assumption on my part.
What is clear though is that Edda indeed was never in 1.0, she was a new character created specifically for ARR.
well if anyone read the folio notes in tam tara hard. theyre pretty disgusting, honestly. Being palace of the dead, is probably just a purpose driven invitation to the WoL to finally kill them, drain them of aether and reanimate her beloved for good OR as for why wed need special weapons and armor could possibly have to do with her fall into the deep left her as a mere spirit, haunting the place with specters maybe? I mean obviously were traversing a separate realm from that of our own, maybe have to enter with aether weapons because she only exists in the aether now refusing to return to the flow, idk. those folios were really sick and a good read
And at this point I have to ask "What makes so so special that we have to bring speiclaized weapons even though Primals and Eikons are also aetherial beings?" Unless...
What if Edda is somehow being a modern eikon? Still woudn't explain the weapons, but it would explain why we would be at the PoTD in the first place?
So... Apparently we're getting an Avere mount... I think we all know where that's coming from, and I think we can all conclude what that means...
Hm, yes the icon I saw seemed more like Naga than Averehman, but I suppose it's possible.
I stand corrected! On further review it is definitely Avere because of the Celata!
Where did we see that we are getting an avere mount?
Ah, and possibly eww....?
If found this a bit suspicious...

Can't wait to see this, i really loved tha storyline !
Wait....wait wait wait WHAT is that mount ?! the one between Avere and the dandelion ? oO
Looks like a fat moogle carrying a seat similar to the Bomb Palanquin? Perhaps they have two mounts for their dailies, rather than two minions? Given we already have plenty of Moogle Minions...
As for Avere... Wonder how Palace of the Dead will play out then... People rightly questioned how Edda could be there when we can enter Palace at a low level, though I never saw much conflict with that, but an Avere mount? Assuming that truly does come from Palace of the Dead, that would mean you can obtain him as a mount before you're even aware what Edda does to his head? Err... Yeah, that's harder to explain away...
Can't wait to see more of Edda. Her story was so tragic. I really felt bad for her.
EDDA CONFIRMED FOR DEEP DUNGEON BY YOSHIDA DURING E3 LIVE LETTER !!!!

Well, more specifically, he confirmed ties to Tam-Tara Hard. I know it's probably not much of a distinction, but consider the following:
-While they said veteran players who have clear Tam-Tara Hard will get more out of the PotD story, it still aims to be comprehensible to those who haven't gotten that far. While it's true that Edda's story gets its start before lv17, she shows up as a fairly stable and sane Conjuror around that point as well. Now, the story could just have her appear deeper in the dungeon and have the player fill in the blanks, but...
-They're still playing coy with the identity of the girl, and her clothing doesn't match anything Edda has ever appeared in - not in the early MSQ, not in Tam-Tara Hard, and not as a rare apparition around the City-States.
-The Avere-esque Voidsent is significantly smaller than what we faced in Tam-Tara Hard.
While I can't say any of that makes me 100% certain it's NOT Edda, I don't think it's as much a confirmation as people are making it out to be. Alternate theory? The connection is more to the necromantic lore that figures into Tam-Tara Hard than to Edda and Avere specifically, and our mysterious figure is some Voidsent or otherwise necromantically-inclined void-mage who has dabbled in similar things (and maybe even had a part in Edda's education in that area).
It could always be that Floor 50 is the necromancer who taught Edda (which would confirm said necromancer as a woman since she'd be our mysterious teased person), and Edda/Avere being the eventual Floor 200 boss.
The E3 Live Letter teased a bit more about the mysterious girl. A miniature helmeted Avere style ahriman/naga was sitting on her shoulder though we didn't manage to see her face.

Edda?
What if it turns out to be Liavinne, instead? She is a zombie (and also liked Avere), now.
You know, while it might be a horrible undead abomination...
... that miniature Avere-Ahriman is kind of...
... cute...
