i lag everytime during primetime why is this how can i fix?
The packet loss is a result of a bad routing that your connection has to take to get to the server in Canada. VPN services like Battleping and WTFast reroute the connection around the bottleneck and solve packet loss, but they are not free and are designed for PC. Utilizing them on PS4 is technically possible, but rather convoluted. A google search for "ps4 vpn" will start you in the right direction if you want to take the plunge.
Well, it could also be from faulty wires/equipment in your home or from your local ISP. Have you tried using http://www.pingtest.net/
Does it show packet loss?
Are you sure its related to your ps4? For the last week or so we've been getting pretty bad stutter type lag in the game, both on the ps4 and the laptop. Usually around prime time like you said.
Personally around this time I have been getting bad lag and stutter too. Made raid impossible on Tuesday.
Let me guess...you all have Comcast, right?
i tried pingtest im on time warner cable. east coast. im on the same connection my ps4 uses on a mac except wireless not wired my ping is 75 jitter is 17 and it wont let me get packet loss info says java is not installed when it is browser i am using is chrome
so if i were to get a vpn which one do i get there are so many?
ive had this problem for so long though always around the same time for a few hours its disgusting lag that makes everything in the game unbearable why does this happen?
Long story short, Lvl3 servers, and American Telecom companies don't get along. Because of (insert lots of legal drama) and it leaves us all stuck in the middle. LVL3 is a company that owns most the worlds international fiber optic lines that all your gaming data gets routed thru, and blah blah blah. I only have this problem after every other patch. And I don't have this problem on any other games I play.
oh and its not just a Comcast issue, girl next door has it too, and she uses ATnT. our fc mate has Media Com, and someone from my LS has something ive never heard of n cant remember its name. they all experience it too. So its something with the routing or the Way SE's servers are receiving n sending data. ISP's are just that Service providers, gate keeepers, they r the guy that sells you the train ticket, one you get on the train tho, that ticket guy has no control over wat happens to you next. They don't really have much control how your data bounces all over. And the fact some patches clear it up, and others make it worse, makes me suspect its a SE problem. not an ISP issue.
Trust me, not a comcast issue here. I have it and I even work for em, no issue since the maintenance we had a few days ago.
