What's the fastest way to get 12,000 Wolf Marks?

All I want is the PvP axe (Axe of the Fury). I don't know anything about PvP, but getting this axe is important to me.

I don't want to be a poor sport or ruin PvP for anyone else, I'm willing to try, I just don't know where to begin or what to do.

If it makes a difference, I'm on the Aether datacenter (Gilgamesh). My two classes in PvE are WAR (main) and MNK (alt), but I'm willing to prepare any other Job if it would be better or more efficient.

So far, I've managed to get invited to a pirate ship, belittled by a big Roegadyn NPC, witness a Retainer brag about their PvP skill before teleporting away, and /taunt'd by a passing Lalafell BLM.

Do 8v8 on WAR and learn to fell cleave. You might also get lucky and get a Fenrir Pup that you can sell.

4v4 solo would probably net you more queues and points but if you are inexperienced with PVP people will probably get upset with you if your team loses since the Season has started and people care about winning/keeping their ranks.

All I do is Seal Rock. And if you're lucky enough to have majority winning GC you won't realize your Wolf Mark is cap to 20k.

I almost spent all pvp i205 aiming, caster and healing vanity including MCH+WAR+SCH weapon and what I do is just Seal Rock.

In my opinion WAR is great for PvP even for inexperienced people if you feel comfortable to stay in melee range (I'm not saying it is a dumb or OP class).
I would suggest you to go Seal Rock expecially during the DR reset time and with E language only to try to get more queue.

Watch some vid of skilled Warriors acting in pvp, or if you seeeven an opponent good wAR try to understand what is he doing.
Most of all learn how to burst with your class, It is not my main and please correct me if I'm wrong but actually to burst as WAR I do:
Gather 5 stack (Maim + Storm's Eye at the end) > Berserk > Full Swing > Fell Cleve > Brutal swing > Infuriate > Fell Cleve > (Mercy Stroke) >Mythril Tempest > /pray

Also as melee I find useful the lock target to run behind squishy target while keep attacking and remember that Sprint won't kill your TP in pvp, so feel free to use it :D

Thanks for the insight! I've never even heard of Seal Rock or Frontline (sorry, been playing a while yet still feel like such a newbie, Eorzea is huge).

I thought I had to do 'Feast', the Arena thing, to get Wolf Marks. That scared me, because I've heard that Feast is really mean. Frontline seems to be giant maps where I can shrink into the background and pretend I know what's going on. That is such a relief.

Does gear matter, or can I just wear my normal PvE gear? Apparently it will let me queue wearing my normal stuff, I hope that's fine.

Hm, I found the quest and unlocked Frontlines, but am I doing something wrong? The Roulette didn't pop for almost 2 hours and didn't even have an 'Average Wait Time' number, and queuing for Seal Rock has been going 90+ minutes without a pop ('More than 30 minutes' — indeed).

Feast queue is promising average wait times of 5 minutes (4v4 Solo) and 10 minutes (8v8), but I'm reluctant to go into that because I don't want to ruin people's ratings or play experience.

Wait for 3.3 and do the new frontline map.

NA/EU Region Frontline is pretty dead afaik... But JP Region always alive. Maybe Feast suits well for your data center if you want fast and easy to gain wolf mark.

Ah, that makes sense then, I guess I need a 'Plan B'. I'm somewhat crazy, but I don't think I'm quite up to doing a server transfer to the JP datacenter just for Wolf Marks. ^^

In 8v8 if there is a rating it doesn't matter (I kinda forgot if there actually is one). The only thing you get from winning as far as I'm aware is achievements (if you are going after the airship mount or something). Honestly, 8v8 is probably your best option in 3.2.

Anyway after you get some experience in 8vs8 or Seal rock, dont' be too scary to join a 4vs4.
Sometimes it is a salt mine, but go on and try to do you best even because you wont' be paired always with the same guys and the matchmaking will try to make "balanced" party taking in consideration your tier.

This is actually really fun! I'm terrible and need far more practice, but it's fun! I wish it had been available sooner than L60, I feel like I was missing out the whole time I was leveling.

Does Frontline Roulette never ever pop, though? I've managed to get pops now for 8v8 Feast and Seal Rock many times (still haven't gotten the nerve to go 4v4 yet) but Frontline Roulette seems to be a dark abyss of wasted time.

EXCITING UPDATE
My Frontline Roulette popped! Exactly the very second the timer ticked over from yesterday's to today's reset. Maybe that's the secret, queue when the 24 players on all of Aether that actually use Frontline Roulette all the press the button simultaneously. ^^

I did 8 on 8 then tried 4v4 and I wasn't that good got yelled at called bad things that I don't want to say, and I stopped. About a week later I said hey I'm not going to let them push me out, so I did it again and I'm pushing for silver now.

And... done. I got my 12k Marks, and now I have my Sword and Shield — not the Axe I wanted originally, because this experience made me appreciate PLD in ways I've never understood the job before.

Skippable sentimental essay:

Ironically, though, I didn't even notice I reached (and went past) 12k Marks — I was having too much fun. And I'm actually kind of sad that I got my weapon, since it means I have to stop PvP'ing and go back to leveling, questing, and stories. Not that I don't love that stuff, but... PvP is so much better than I expected.

I started out terrified of PvP and dreading this Mark grind, but I needed my i205 weapon and this was my only option. PvP is still scary sometimes (like Adder / Maelstrom swarms full of Battle High icons heading straight for the node I'm supposed to single-defend), but this is honestly some of the most fun I have yet had in Eorzea.

The community has helped a lot — it's nothing like other worlds or games I've tried PvP'ing in, where I usually receive nothing but abuse and sarcasm while trying to learn. Here, I can tell players are frustrated to have a newbie weighing them down, but I've also received mostly patience, tips, and support.

I've gone from not even knowing Frontlines existed last week, to Frontline Roulette being the part I look forward to most every log-in. I need to take care of other business first, but I really want to get into this side of Eorzea a lot more seriously once I'm properly prepared for it.

As for the gritty work of actually collecting Marks:

Thank you Eul for making me aware that Frontlines / Seal Rock exist and encouraging it as an option. This is my favorite PvP mode, and where I got most of my Wolf Marks from.

Once I learned to be patient and wait out dry spells in the queue population, I started getting pops ~20-30m wait on average. Not nearly as quick as 4v4 Solo, but also without the guilt of jeopardizing others' hard-fought ratings.

And, hey, thinking positive: I finished lots of backlogged assignments / studying, made some Gil, and gained a lot of Crafter levels while waiting for those pops. ^^

So, thank you — To everyone who offered advice and ideas in this thread, to everyone that encouraged me to not worry about it and just jump in and start playing, and to all the players in-game who have tolerated and instructed me as I've started to figure out how to do this.
