Flying Bears and Fenrirs (Photos)

Will the Warbear and Fenrir be able to fly in 3.3?

Is it all just speculation at the moment?

Or has anyone heard any news?

Is this real? Where are the photos from?

It was said during the last live letter no ? No the one before that. the 28th

They said tank mount would fly and show a picture of the next trib mount (supposedly since it's dravania dragons and mogs)

Right, I heard tank mounts were going to be able to fly but I wasn't aware there was previews and screenshots out. This is good stuff. The flying bear will probably finally dethrone my griffin as favorite flying mount.

Fenrir and a bear on top a flying turtle and we still don't have flying primal ponies wtf, they better be working on flying ponies if they can make all this other stuff fly.

Where's the DRK mount flying?...

I think they confirmed Fenrir wil lbe able to fly, but they didn't say how. That pic seems to be fake or somehing.

With both being made with a very similar background looking up, there's a good chance someone simply made screens jumping down a cliff.

Why does every single mount have to fly? Just because they were earned through achievements or mgp doesn't mean they need to fly. People act like the only place they ever are anymore is flying zones so said mount has to fly.

Except the devs already said the tank mounts and fenrir are going to be able to fly (3.3 is their projected release patch)

I know and it's pretty dumb

Having all sorts of mounts that can fly is all fine and dandy, but i would personally like to see customizable personal flying ships, like the FC ships...would be great to see different types of ships one could show off if they implemented a good customization system, and ofcourse crafting wuold come into play to build different parts, even go so far as creat two seater ships.

Yoshi showed a concept during a previous live letter of how he wants Fenrir to fly, apparently he'll summon a sheet of ice that he'll run on.

I'm sorry if the photos tricked a few of you, I haven't gotten back to check on this post till now. I really didn't take those screenshots with the idea of tricking anyone. I just wanted to get some cool looking ones for this thread.

Yes, Fenrir will "fly" by freezing the air to create a path to run along. I'm okay with this, but how would they explain tank mounts flying?

It'll be a bold job to see that. But if the 'Running on Ice' effect ends up looking anything like the 'Running on wind' effect of Nightmare (the circular sprites on it's hooves) then I hope they just can that concept and make the thing glide with a diamond dust particle trail or something.

Instead of making every mount fly, they could just make a flying mount for your mount.

At the very least, we all can probably agree that they are going to have a difficult time making up concepts to make EVERY mount fly. And while some of us can understand it wouldn't make sense for EVERY mount to fly, there is always going to be someone who's favorite mount is the one that can't fly and can't understand why or be happy till it does... Can't really ever make everyone happy on this issue... (aside from the flying mount for your mount to stand on idea!) Or you could invent a "pony jetpack"...

Funny story... I think I created that gif (or one like it)... :P It was in response to a live letter where a dev answered a question about whether or not all the mounts (like gobbue) would one day fly. He answered that some of the more creative suggestions he got from users were "jetpacks". :P

Maybe someone made another gif like the one I made and posted here though. I think it was a kind of obvious meme to make...

I read the title as "Fenris" and was confused at the lack of surly lyrium-enhanced elves in the thread.

I hope after this they just leave everything alone. Nothing else needs to fly, some things should just be left as a ground mount. If you appreciate it enough, then go appreciate the long, scenic route at ground level or in 2.0 areas now and then. I love Sleipnir and he suits my Au Ra perfectly as opposed to any silly chocobo, as much as I love them, but that does not mean I want some ridiculous excuse to use it as an air mount too. Just use two different mounts. It's simple ~-~ *peeeeve*

Not to mention how flight locks out Aldgoats and Chimeras (than again the latter has wings...)

Maybe when they introduced Swimming mounts this will die down...or people will instead ask that anything that takes a modicum of effort to get must Swim AND Fly >.>...

This is the most silliest thing ever. Why the hell would u make a bear and a wolf fly. This just seems stupid. People need to stop acting special when it comes I these request. Why should an animal that is not meant to fly be flying. Turning everything in to a flying mount is starting to get silly.

Because apparently it its isn't flying then it isn't worth the effort (or price in Sleipnir's case). Why they don't just add a new million MGP mount is beyond me

Well, naturally. A flying mount can do everything a ground mount can and more, making it automatically worth more. This is especially true because the ability to fly provides substantial advantages over going on ground while traversing a zone due to the increased speed, the ability to ignore terrain and the ability to ignore monsters. Keeping up with a flying FATE party via ground mount is a lesson in futility. To add, newer zones are all designed around flying both in size and terrain, which just makes that impact all that much bigger.

So in practice, you'll never use a pure ground mount while flight is available. Just like you don't run through zones when mounts are available and don't walk through zones when running is available. It's just the objectively inferior choice for traversing zones.

In Sleipnir's case, we now have like 12-13 other horse mounts, including one we get for free after doing a level 30 CNJ quest (Unicorn), and one that can fly and can get in game via grinding Diadem (Pegasus).

If there is any chance of the bear being able to fly then might as well have all mounts take flight and sing Kumbaya together
