No one knows yet. Girlfriend and I have been combining our efforts to try and save up for a nice house in the Lavender Beds. We're worried they're going to raise the prices by a ridiculous amount and we won't be able to afford one once we combine our gil together for what they used to cost.
I think it's probably safe to say the prices will be at least twice what they are now. That's speculation but I wouldn't be surprised. I would hope they would at least double the wards available. Also relative to what appears to be instanced housing with apartments it would be nice if they gave previews of what is to come as well as pricing so people can decide if they want a house in a neighborhood now or wait for an apartment style in Ishgard. I'm also curious to know if neighborhood style housing will be made available in Ishgard as well.
changes must be made the demand must be met
Possibly they may raise prices by 50%. But I am hoping they reduce prices to make them more affordable, and mostly add more small houses than anything else.
You have clothing that costs more than a house. Have you checked the pricing on 220 gear? I'd love for prices to stay the same but you can be sure they aren't planning to lower prices. It sure is going to make getting one a lot harder for those who don't gather or craft.
On Siren the pieces are costing anywhere from 700k to 1.6 million for HQ. I just checked the Casting top and the lowest price was 1.6 million with the last few selling for close to that. Prices are going up it appears and I would have thought it would have been the other way around. My point is at least market board prices on my server for the left side for BLM, WHM and others cost as much if not more than a small house. Forget accessory prices they are much more than that.
Housing prices have remained the same since introduction. Personally I would love to see them stay the same but that doesn't appear to be in the cards.
And I agree you can get it crafted for less but let me tell you i'm getting rich selling 220 mats many of which are from Legendary nodes.

Edit: I actually paid 2 million for my house when I bought it given at that time houses were plentiful and the prices bottomed out after depreciating for months.
There are single pieces of furniture that cost more than a small house. Prices are absurdly low.
Balmung also has the cheapest prices of any server I've seen on the Primal or Aether data centers.
They said they were adding a lot, so my expectation is they will add 0 and say that it is coming soon.
no they need to meet the demand on every server anything less is unacceptable
Why would they raise the prices wasn't that a problem to begin with.
It would confuse me if they raised housing prices. Why would they do that? You'd just have the same issue with the richer players buying out houses again just to sell them on, whilst the players that have managed to save up just enough for a house (me included) are priced out yet again.
My guess is they'll reduce prices, to allow more people to have a shot at housing.
How are the rich going to sell them to you if they're already too expensive for you to buy?
As long as houses are prohibitively expensive, there will be empty houses. Why buy from a reseller when you can just buy one of the empty ones? And don't forget you need to pay twice. Not only does the reseller have to sell higher than they bought it for, but the buyer has to pay that amount twice. If it's so expensive that people can't afford it, good luck with that.
As long as they buy them they can sit on the empty house for as long as it takes to sell it to someone once they have the even higher amount of gil that will be required by the reseller.
I really hope you're right. I'm going to make sure I'm ready to log on as soon as new housing is released, just so I can get a plot.
But just going from what has happened in the past - When the houses were released last December on Balmung, they were all gone more or less within 5 minutes, and the PF was full of people selling their newly aquired homes. - Better safe than homeless, eh? :)
I think the prices just start with the starting price every house had at the beginning before the prices decrease automatic every week.
Don't listen to them Square Enix, more wards available doesn't mean they have to increase plot prices, on the contrary they would have to make them cheaper because there is more availability and not necessarily more demand!...
and rent must be charged
...Can you really truly spend even a day on these forums and then say with any degree of seriousness that the housing demand doesn't exceed the current supply by a lot? I mean only a fraction of the game's population even posts here, and yet housing availability (or rather, the perpetual lack thereof) is one of those subjects that's constantly brought up time and time again in countless threads by different people every time. ._.
