I honestly thought that we would have another dark/dreary raid like the current VA. It's a nice change though! Definitely looking forward to it :o
I'm kind of not sure what excuse it will be given for that place to be totally abandoned. I mean shouldnt be archeologists all over the place?
A number of reasons. It might be in an inexcessable area. We get there by Airship. Its location might not be well known. It could have a reputation for being cursed (quite likely true) or could just be extremely dangerous. I mean its the ruined city of a people that kept Voidsent in boxes as a power source. A few centuries and that void energy will likely have leaked out and effected the landscape, even if the voidsent themselves were kept locked up.
I'm pretty sure Diablos has to be persued and that there may be a lead on where he appeared. a cryo-coffin of the Void Queen in possession and chances of resurrecting her through the Mhachi capital? Maybe a ritual table or something of Mhach design? Plenty of reasons to go there. A place lost in time, etc. I'm less worried about Diablos and more of that one female sky pirate, I feel our backs are getting stabbed and twisted if we turn them too fast....
I'm not sure how much I'll enjoy the sights, considering we'll likely be blazing through it with Mhach 3 anyway.
Probably gonna be more burn the boss gauntlet. Oh boy oh joy.
Needs more ExDeath.
Nah, we'll probably fight the queen as the final boss of Mhach with Diabolos running off to the next raid location. The queen won't be the true final boss, we did that already in Crystal Tower. I believe ExDeath will more than likely be the true final boss, lording over the ruined civilization from it's seat of power that is the third raid location.
Append: Get the locations straight, idiot. >,<
I hope for Exdeath. Master of the void.
There is no running from the void, only, DEATH. - Exdeath
I wonder if they'd just blatantly go with ExDeath... For starters, Crystal Tower and its homage to FFIII was meant to be an exception, not the rule, so having ExDeath show up would kinda go against that? It's not quite a retelling of FFVs plot, but it is very Void-centric, so having ExDeath walk in might be pushing that a bit much...
Then there is the name... ExDeath? There is a reason FFXII went with Exodus instead... Given we've had CĂșchulainn in Void Ark, seeing Exodus as the penultimate boss could work...
The (seemingly) final boss of this next arc looked reminded my a lot of Bloodborne's Moon Presence boss due to howit descends from the sky and appears to have tentacles.
At 1st I thought it was holding a scythe and that it was an upgraded/transformed Fediad, but who knows? Ferdiad, like Cu Calain, was a figure in Irish Mythology and was a student of Scathac. Additionally, it's been confirmed in his TT that was was summoned by the Mhach during the War of Magi and was subsequently sealed by the Amdapori mages in their Keep
I prefer if they save ExDeath for something like Gilgamesh's continue story in FF14. SE has yet to explain how Gilgamesh becomes FFVIII Gilgamesh which is Gilgamesh's Oldest self where he has already obtained Excalibur but has lost 3 of his right arms.

Those 3 fake cardboard box arms sound like something Hildibrand and Natsu would give him if he lost his arms.
GREG can shapeshift to have up to 8 arms. Varies from entry. VIII is likely after his battle with Necrophobe.
Greg's timeline also varies due to the Void sending to different places at different time and space.
Of course Greg's origins begins in Final Fantasy Type-0 which is where he developed his weapon collecting habit and began traveling the void.
Going through Greg's origins in Type-0 is still sad as he lost everything, his best friend Enkidu (died protecting Gilgamesh that lead to him to lose his memories), his kingdom, the people he cared about, and his memories, before he became the comedy character we know him as now. Despite losing his memory he still remember the name Enkidu despite not knowing why he values that name which lead to him naming the Void creature he meet in the Void to be Enkidu we know as Gilgamesh's companion.
I'm a big FF GILGAMESH nut. And in here barring Ramuh, Enkidu in XIV was one of the few benevolent Primals. And it only took the belief of GILGAMESH himself to make him appear with a bunch of Fire Crystals. In Type 0 though he eventually remembers everything. A first for L'cie/WoL in that game's world but I think he just keeps his past to himself since other worlds can't really relate to his loss and his comedic nature is really just a mask he wears to hide his "greatest failure".
It's stressed in a lot of FF games that "he looked like a monster but didn't seem evil".
