Matchmaking is FINE!

Many people are all complaining about matching and that it needs fixing. The thing is it's fixed and it works.

You want it so that you get matched with nothing but players from your rank right? Like a full "silver-gold player" only games. I have been in a few of these matches already at peak times. But even in peak hour, there is not enough players queuing at the same time & at a similar rank for this to happen consistently. Why?

• Some of you are already in a match
• Some of you are simply not in queue.

There is not enough of us to even experience healthy matchmaking you see in other popular games. We are not a big community.

Now do you see how small we are?

What do you want SE to do? Make it even more strict so that you only get matched with your own rank? A matchmaking system needs to have room to play with especially is we don't have the players.

Look how little gold there is compared to silver. Now imagine how much bronze there is compared to silver. There may or may not be just as much unranked queuing as bronze right now.

Nex and Straigus can't even get games because the system is not including unranked and maybe even bronze in their games. If so that means it's working overtime to find at least one other diamond, four golds and maybe 2 silvers as a last resort. Because there still isn't enough gold players for them to get constant pops. What is better a high rank and not being able to play. Or being able to play and having the rank you have now? (Jesus Christ I know you all just want to have a high rank... Why did I even use that for a rhetorical question.)

The only thing you can truly ask for is to allow all data centers to play each other. But oh lord I can see it now. The Japanese will hate this and it will probably piss them off lol. Some of you will be saying "how can I play with someone who doesn't understand me?! Waaaa SE waaaaaa!!" I can think up a bunch more excuses but I'll save my breath. So unless you show SE that this can work. Kiss that option goodbye. As for light party... Now that would be awesome. Hint hint wink wink

Now can you see why I'm telling you all to not treat new players like trash. You want them to stay, not run away. You ask for so much but yet do nothing yourselves to obtain it. SE please fix this, SE please make roulette so we can trick people into playing PVP modes that they have no interest in. (I like this idea btw teehee.) But guys wth, I mean WHAT THE HELL MAN. Invite more players to your scene. Get more people into it. Give them a chance to get good in it before you treat each other like s***. You're all paying for your own mistakes. We could have soooo much more players already, but you keep turning them away. Give them a chance to get better. Honestly I want us to grow, so I point out our internal issues. If we had the player base like other games do. I wouldn't care, I wouldn't do any of this because the population would already be there. It's not here though, I love PVP like you guys but there is not enough of us, and none of us can do the kage bunshin no jutsu.

You even ask for the old fold back. An even harder mode. How many of you will actually do it, vs how many people you actually need to do it for it to be viable and have longevity? It would be a waste of time if you don't have a healthy population. Be grateful people want to try feast out. When The Feast came out, I was just happy to have the instant queues into something PVP. I mean it was only yesterday we felt like we had to queue 30 mins on average, just for some good ol' seal rock!

Ok if you don't agree or understand all that, you must understand this fact.

The less people we have overall, the less chance you have at getting an all gold player vs all gold player match.
No matter what they do with the system. It needs a decent population to work.

Honestly it probably IS fine on your data center (Aether) but on primal it most certainly is not. You do have some valid points though. Ultimately there is a problem. I just hopefully squeenix can come up with some sort of solution.

There's not enough gold players, because gold players keep getting demoted from the match maker trying to make "even" teams so they have 1 gold, and 3 bronze vs 4 silvers. :| When I was silver, It was full silver vs full silver, 5 hours straight, and that was where I was racking up a lot of wins. When I got to gold, it all went downhill from there.

I'd rather wait longer than have these teams unbalanced, while the algorithm thinks it's balanced. (I always get instapops in pvp btw, maybe it's because healers are getting frustrated and quitting, like myself?)
If a few classes weren't obviously broken, I am sure more people would return to pvp. Honestly, you ask people and they're like "PVP is so unbalanced in FF14, I'm not even going to bother" The feast really needed more tweaks before releasing the first season. Hopefully the EU team who are doing the feast soon will see what it's like.

Also if they did something about cheaters, more people would play. The cheating mnk is currently 2nd on the primal datacentres. (He really is speed hacking, I am not just pointing the finger because I am butthurt, honest. faster than sprint with heavy on? Yeah...). When things don't feel fair, people quit. Simple as that.

There's mulitple pvp linkshells on the behemoth server, which is always open to help people with pvp. Send me a tell and I'll invite behemoth pvpers to it.

I'll probably keep doing 8v8 for funzies, I have a 73% winrate there (with over 200 matches)... Even if people say "8v8 doesn't matter". :P 8v8 is nicer, because even if you are CC'd, theres the other healer who can take over healing, so a mass death doesn't happen.

Haha that is pretty funny you wrote that in bottom caption because I would say yes I'd rather have my rank and be unable to play, then play with people way below my skill level or rank and repeated lose lol. I agree with most everything you posted though. Also merging the regional data centers would be a god send if they could somehow do it.

Agreed. I'd rather have a long queue and a chance for a higher rating, which, last I checked, was the whole point of RANKED PvP... Than walk into super fast matches where 90% of them are losses.

On Topic: I think Jazz is right. There's probably not a big enough pool of players queueing to do a +1/-1 rank match. Rank heavily scales with games played (not like League where if you're on a streak early in the season you'll get 40+ elo a match). So there's just not enough people in the higher tiers yet. I do generally think that unrankeds should only play with unrankeds. There's a massive skill drop in that part of the bracket.

It's self-defeating, though: Matchmaking being +2/-2 is the best reason to not be playing right now. If you're Silver or Gold, and you're being asked to Harrison Bergeron yourself some literal IRL vegetables, you're not going to have fun at all.

They should let the #1's from each data center fight each other tournament style at the end of season to decide world champion :P

+2/-2 would be fine if "wood" tier players were excluded. People interested in competing seriously in PvP can easily work their way to Bronze.

Of course, Season 2 being sectioned off by regions would be a huge improvement. It actually may be possible as it seems they are looking into setting up cross realm group finder.
