I see a lot of negative threads, so trying something positive.

Recently ran Stone Vigil for my first time with two FC mates and a random. I should mention that one mate is basically the FC alpha and comes along every ten levels or so, or when bored lol. When he does, he is always a good confidence booster and gives me an evaluation based off what he sees.

Anywho, I've expressed how anxious I get on first runs, and always question my ability. I need to start accepting that I might actually be.. kind of good at this? eep! lol
I know it's early, but I still wanted to post these screen shots after the run, and I'm still calming down as you will see in my response to their advice what I should do next. Such a blonde xD

^^^^ Totally not necessary. As a healer any time we get in to a crap situation and I save the group...its the best feeling that's why I love to heal, and Scholar is FANTASTIC for that. As you go from 50-60 you will really see Scholar shine. Lustrate at 50 and Indomitability at 52 are game changers. Keep going and good luck Gemina <3

Thank you Ohhlala! I can't take full credit for such a successful run. The dps were all over it and avoided unnecessary dmg, and our tank and I had total synergy. But it was definitely one of my best performance as sch in an instance. I also acquired rouse during the run, and it is nothing short of amazing. I'm already doing well dmg mitigation and I'm soon to acquire sacred soil for even more! Once 8-man starts up, I think my co healer will love me. I hope! But yeah, love sch, love whm, LOVE healing lol

Hey, FC runs are the best :D had one last night myself with my laggy ping, I was a DRG, and we all tried to find a way to kill the other first xD while still clearing the dungeon. Best run ever with FC since we don't care if we wipe as long as we enjoy running contents together. :D

My friends and I of the RP police arrested a villain guilty of having a non-lore friendly name.
Was nice to see justice done.

my good experiences generally come from me just helping people.. im the type that is ehh, i guess i would say "better" than most, but not in a braggy sort of way lol, im not the best, just better than the people that dont play too often or dont care to get to the top..in anycase, its always fun helping people, wether we win or wipe or have a bunch of noob moments, if you had fun or learned something then all those wipes and struggles were worth going through imo.

cant always think ahead just because you are elite, remebering how you were when you first started and helping others that were in your shoes is the best way to better yourself

Just a few nights ago, I queued for an ex roulette in progress. I zone into LCoA and it's two dps waiting at the first boss, no tank. I ask "shall we?" And after no response I decide what the hell, and start casting aero 3. Both dps join in immediately. We cleared the whole dungeon from the first boss on with no tank. Well one joined while we were fighting the last boss, and got some free tomes. We wiped twice on the pull with the 3 idols and light sprite, but other than that it was flawless. Both dps were singing my praises at the end, and that sure felt good!

I can't say I'm the best player ever, but I know enough to not get myself killed. So, as a healer, it's just fun to go around reviving people, helping new comers out, and explaining mechanics.
And it tears me so when you can tell people are having a hard time and quit out of a duty. Like, no...come back, I won't judge you. One DF I was doing Titan NM leveling up my DRK and healer was like, out-of-the-boat-to-a-new country-new.
She would keep healing in Cleric stance and so we told her not to as it would drastically reduce her healing capabilities- and she didn't do anymore so we got further that time.
But she couldn't dodge and I really couldn't explain that mechanic as it's too self-explanatory. She kept getting punted off the edge of the arena and she kept apologizing like literally kept apologizing.
I kept reassuring her that we can kept trying "'cause it's no use to anyone else if we vote abandon and you go into another party with less nice people".
Others joined in to and reassure her we can stay until she got better with this fight.
We explained to her that the fight is basically a wake up call and that she's gonna face other instances that will be ten times tougher than this fight if she's to continue playing.
She thanked us and we continued...but she kept getting punted off the edge. At that point, there was still nothing left to say, so I kept quite.
Then all of a sudden, she left. We all concluded that she left most likely out of nervousness and embarrassment and I'll admit, I've done that a couple of times when I first got FFXIV.
But it's justified as I would usually get really rude and mean people on my first runs who would tell me that I had no idea how to heal, and while it was true, I'd rather someone take the time to explain my first job to me then to badger me about and not make me want to scrap the game. That's why I make sure other people have good experiences; gotta fill this community with good and not full of elitism and intolerance for new people.

Things that recently made me happy:

- a Thavnarian onion survived a full week in my gardening patch. I usually kill off everything in under 24 hours, so that was a great achievement :D
- lala emotes :o I recently switched back, and just watching my character move about is such a joy.
- joined a Thordan EX training party (for whatever reason) and while people did fail at first, everyone listened to advice and it was very satisfying to make it past meteors in a time that takes most random parties to work out how to not die to the first aoe.
- my first Ravana farm ever and instantly got a bird °-°

Cool! I love to see some positive feedback from fellow healers. We don't get too many thank yous unless single handedly saving an entire instance, so these responses are so refreshing.

The support you guys gave was really awesome and she very likely never found that again outside of FC runs. I wish I could have been there too. Her issue might have just been lag, and she could have thought she was out of landslides zone when she actually wasn't. So many have got knocked off by standing just outside the red bar.

I've just been spamming MSQ roulette and Praetorium on AST like a crazy person. Must have queued 15+ times by now in the past couple days. No idea why I like it so much. Was 56 when I started and now between that and Hests roulette I'm 58.

I must start off by saying that i'm not a raider... at all. So i've never done anything beyond Bismarck EX (which i was super anxious to try out)
So, since i wanted to join my FC mate in her raids and wanted to try Sephirot EX ( i loved the normal fight), she told me i should try Ravana EX. I was super anxious and while queueing i was watching a guide (was super afraid to cause a wipe as a first timer, especially since the mechanics there are quite chaotic).
The fight starts, everything goes well, and the SCH (my main) book drops, and i got 3 comms (which is super rare at higher levels...). I was super happy.

Now i just have to find the courage to try Thordan EX.
Anyway, keep up with this great attitude, Gemina, and i'm sure you'll become a great healer!

My laziness has caught up with me. °-° I was suppose to clear Sephirot Ex this week, instead I was busy myself raiding Final Coil of Bahamut for my Dreadwyrm set ! XD

My greatest joy is when I'm helping people and there are actually results. Be it helping with a dungeon, raid, crafting or gathering. Personally I think I do pretty well on the classes I actually play more than once a week and I like giving tips and teaching others at least the basics of those classes just as much as I like seeing them figuring out things themself. We all started out small and new and made our embarrassing mistakes and that is what I always remind myself of. Positive feedback is often underrated but is really needed, some seem to take it as a given, words of encouragement really help to keep people going and get them through times they feel like they perform aweful. Also player commendations, never forget those. I've often seen sprouts which felt disappointed and thought they performed bad bc they didn't get any at the end of a dungeon and I guess a few of us know that some of us don't give them out of laziness or other reasons.

I started a thread in the general forum about a week ago talking about making friends and reaching out. It so unorthodox in MMOs today. I greatly miss those days when players communicated outside of FC/LS chat. So I made two friends recently using this method. One player had outdated accessories and I hooked her up with a complete HQ set after she kept me healed in a FATE. It all started with a convo in /say. A few days after that, a fellow WHM was in trouble in the Sylphlands, and I cure bombed him, then helped take down the mobs trying to eat the cute Lala. He sent the usual /bow. I was like screw that and we ended up talking about burning down the zone lol, then proceeded to help each other clear our logs in that area.

This is so not me! I have massive social anxiety and it really felt good to step out of my comfort zone. I felt this post was a good contribution considering the last replies have all of you stepping out of your zones to help others. So awesome!

It's pretty sad that mmos are increasingly getting less social thanks to them catering to solo players (where most of the bank comes in). People are going to disagree with me but it's very true. Nothing really requires you anymore to get out and make new friends to clear content lIke back then. Aside from raids. You can completely do every instance without so much making a friend on your server. While options are nice, it's still a massively multi-player online game. Hence multi-player. As a social guy IRL it's kind of disappointing and a good amount of people I meet kind of feel the same way but don't do anything about it. Hell bet I get most of my commendations from talking and complimenting people when I can.

You have to try harder than back then but sometimes when you do its very much worth it. Nothing makes you feel better than including others or being included. IRL or in game. It really opens up new avenues and imo makes the game far more enjoyable. I'd be done with the game long ago if I didn't have friends to talk with. I'm glad you are enjoying yourself and there are definitely others who are feeling the same way you are. ESPECIALLY newer players.
