Dumb stuff in pvp.

Alright, my saltiness has increased to the amount in which I have decided to make a thread pointing out the many mistakes in pvp I have seen. Post your experiences too if you wish!

1: People not knowing that pvp abilities exist. :|

2: Edited: People using blood for blood, and keeping it on when they are being smacked up.

3: People not using Oaths/Sects/stances w/e. It resets before the match, and spending half the match telling them "<insert name here> Oath please! <insert name here> Sect please!", and then having people call you a jerk because you keep trying to tell them to put it on.

4: Tanks (mostly PLDs) taking def buff. You guys are tanky enuf as it is, let a ranged dps/healer have it ;-;

5: Having 7+ medal stacks and then staying in the fray, being a dps rather than being tanky and hiding.. Lost 5+ games in 3 hours from this. ;-;

6: Not using purify despite a bazillion of nasty debuffs like Mch, wildfire clock thingy, vul. up debuff from full swing, sleep, that nin debuff, Phantom Dart etc. I'm always having to use my purify on others because they won't use theirs for some reason ;-;

7: other people not picking up medals when the tank has 5+ stacks.

8: People not knowing about their pvp rotations that are excellent in pvp. For example bards that don't use barrage + empyreal arrow. Ever. Or Plds that don't know about the healer lockdown they can use. (From seeing it done to me it's 3x stuns, silence, then knockback)

9: Ranged dps not kiting and staying in melee range of their enemies the entire fight. It gets real hard to heal ;-; makes me oom trying to keep you up, and then you still die.... which leads me to my next point.

10: Bards/mch not using manasong/report on healers with low MP.

11: Staying on Eos the entire time. Why. Just why....

12: People not LoSing BLMs that have leylines up, who has also used Phantom Dart on them. F*CKING RUN DPS, YOU'RE GONNA GET REKT. YOU CAN'T DPS WHEN YOU'RE DEAD. Plus, I go oom trying to heal them. I can only do so much, I am a healer, not a miracle worker.

13: This one blm who almost never goes over 50k dps, and hardly ever uses sleep. You know who you are. I went from 1003 rating to 870 because of you. (and a few other similarly bad people.)

14: PEOPLE SUDDENLY STARTING TO DDoS PINGZAPPER AS THE FEAST SEASON IS ON. WHY THE F*CK PEOPLE, WIN VIA NORMAL MEANS.

15: And finally.... People not even bothering to look for tips and tricks in pvp, and continuing to do all the things listed above ^


Basically I feel like people are jumping into rated far too soon, when they have more learning to do which they can do in 8v8, aka Training in the feast.

My frustration is growing to no end. I got paired 5 times yesterday with a DRG who doesn't use heavy thrust ever. Or a NIN who ended the fight with 62k dmg on a 8 mins duration. It's gotten to the point where I feel there should be a form of dummy practice to validate wether or not you are able to enter pvp. Or a form of pvp blacklist to chose with whom you don't want to be paired with ever again. Downgrading from silver to bronze because of terrible matchups.... No thanks.

But yeah, as healer it's always great to see people getting focused down with blood for blood on and never turning it off. I mean read the f*****g tooltip.

I encounter #7 all the time. One match we lost i was killed in the last 20 seconds because neither dps or healer would pick up medals despite me waiting till the last second of pick up and asking them too.

I don't know how to pick up medals.

afterall everybody don't have the same experience but yes this is some of the dumb stuff we can do in pvp.
for the medals a tank can get 2 medals and he can already be at 4 stacks, so let the tank take the two first after you share the rest.
I still lack of experience about the adapatation, where my place is the better in the current situation it's a other but more complicated dumb stuff XD.

Gonna have to disagree on B4B. The time to turn it off is when you're getting focused. I have /statusoff bound for this. If you're being left alone and click it off you're throwing out free damage post-burst, possibly while re-applying dots.

I find that a lot of the tanks I get are too quick to pick up any medals they find. If I see that they're at 4+ stacks, I try to pick some up. But there have been many times where I run over to grab and the tank is just like "MIIIIINE!!" and then he has 10 stacks or something. -.-

i get trolled by this too, it would be great to have something to indicate how much stacks the coin is going to be before you get it

Omg this is funny. I've never seen this happen yet but then again I've only been in like 30 matches or so since this tuesday. Closest I saw to this was seeing the opponent healer once take his team's attack buff at the start of the match. Though idk how useful the defense buff is at the start of the match anyway. Now the standard has shifted from killing the ranged dps at the start to always killing the melee at the start of the match since they always lack the defense buff.

The log tells you how many are dropped.

Log gets spammy and its small, I think hes referring to actual numbers being displayed instead of fancy treasure boxes

better yet there should be a UI element with a bar displaying how many medals you currently have with lines marking how close you are to the next stack instead of constantly flipping or locking that enormous scorebox.

You can make a log just for pvp which helps a lot. You can also change the text size and box size , although i wish i could move the box itself.

Things that triggered me in 4v4 today (seperate matches)

-First thing healer says is "I'm going to die a lot"

-Tank goes "I don't know what I'm doing" (WHY ARE YOU QUEUEING RANKED, THEN)

-Healer proceeds to die 5 times with an experienced tank in party, says "I'm done" and leaves in the middle of a match

I dunno, as soon as I hit bronze I get paired with people like this and it sucks.

You can resize the scorebox. I made it slightly smaller and locked it into place.
I couldn't imagine playing without it on.

the not ranked version is 8 vs 8 game, i think you can't realy learn to 4 vs 4 with this format. there should be a training version of the 4 vs 4 i think, you won't have the excuse i am new in ranked pvp, if you are new you go in the unranked one, but it's the 8 vs 8 players format actualy.

This, I have gone quite a few matches as ranged dps where they kill our melee several times and never even bother to touch me with the defense buff, to the point where he is no longer dropping many medals, if any at all per death.

My favourite is when I get blamed for my parties' lack of dps, playing a healer.

I like getting blamed for lack of dps when I focus the marked target or even the person carrying a shit ton of medals but my melee is off doing whatever without any sort of communication, and that's on top of me being focused by the enemy dps. Yes, SMN still have burst. No, I am not Jesus. Getting really tired of this shit.

Had a match recently where the WAR was yelling about both DPS (mch[me]/mnk) not killing anything while he was focusing the BLM, allowing their AST to freecast instant heals. After sarcastically telling him about the free-running AST being scarier than a BLM, he caved in and focused, surprise, we turned it around pretty fairly and I got a comm.

This is why we don't jump on the x Class is OP so lets focus it bandwagon unless there is something actually broken about the class.

as war i got yelled because i was not focusing the healer sometimes, it's something to take easy, i often try to support our dps to kill one dps, but yes after that i try to focus healer, if i focus healer, i try to see also to distribute my stun when it's up, i can stun the healer off course but after 2 times i am sure there a resist, so i may focus the healer, but stun the blm or even the war certainly pursing our healer. after that if our healer is extremely harrased i have to choose to focus dps, to try to support the healer and let him escape, if the dps is too low in hp he wil get killed or get out from our healer.
This is where i have inegal match, i can do my job in some matchs, because all the match is not the same i may completely fail because it's completely the chaos and i need a fast and right decision (this make chaos in my mind too XD)
I think it's something some tank and even dps have to improve. (me included XD)
But it's easier to say than just do it.
It's not just focus endlessy a blm or a healer. And there so many thing to keep an eye on.

B4B is only 10% for DRGs, so I'll never turn it off. Other classes, though... Yeah, why are you taking an equivalent of 3 medal stacks for +10% damage? Avoid B4B if you're not a DRG, unless you're not on my team, then by all means. B4B for days.

The dmg taken is actually 15% for dragoons if im not mistaken. But yeah, unless both dps plus the tank are on me I dont like taking it off either. Honestly though, if I have both dps plus a war on me imma die with or without blood for blood, unless they just suck. That 30% dmg increase is too delicious to take off just cause 1 dps is on you as DRG.

Fair point ^-^ I don't usually play dps in the feast.

People that leave immediately in 4v4 as soon as game ends when you want to give them a few tips(it's ranked play!). That and DPS/Heals can't even do half(that's if I'm lucky) of their opposing counter parts(clearly you see there's room for improvement? There's a window that shows you at the end of the match!). Oh but here they are again with me on my next game not saying a peep... Is this real life? At this point I don't want any lore/esos in ranked. I'd rather have long que times than whatever I'm seeing in some of these matches. A forced tutorial on how The Feast works with medal stacks and such would also be nice. Also, the window should stay locked on people's screens so they can't get rid of it.

How far off is patch 3.35? Because I don't know if my heart can take much more of this. And this is just the first week... xD

One of the dumb stuff I did... Queue as a class, forgetting that the previous time I played as another... And because of that all of my pvp points (not that I have many to begin with) are set on the wrong class.
And I can't change it while inside the duty. ;_;
But I do this mostly in premade with people that I know.

just rescently dicoverd somethign really annoying: A warrior who picked up like all the medals (10+ vurn up already) and for the last duration of 3 min he wasnt on the map or anywhere

he was like invisibible..

it had to be glitch or so caus thats simply not fair. and yes we have searched everywhere! Nothing like he cross classed stealth
Then out of the sudden he appeared in on of the corner running away for the alst 20s ec or so.

cant tell what this shit is but using a glitch to win is pathetic

People that play black mage, do no damage, sleep nothing, then blame me for not being able to keep them alive as they sit there and take it up the ...

There's a ramp that leads down to the 8v8 portion of the map (by the starting supply crates) that people hide in sometimes. Can be difficult to see if they are a lalafell.

well we were 4VS4 and he was a male Au Ra Warrior.. in 4Vs4 i think the ramp isnt even visible or accesable cause of barricades?

As a community I feel like we aren't very good with PVP guides. I tried to look up what a monk is suppose to do in PVP and I couldn't find anything via google that want outdated. The best info I have is from random posts like these.

There isn't much for self teach on the internet for PvP

For instance it took me forever to find out I was suppose to do something like shoulder tackle, one Ilm punch, forbidden chakra, axe kick, tornado kick, perfect balance -> (depends on what job), build back to GLIII with OCD mixed in. For burst damage.

I had just been going in with my normal PVE opener which is not a good PVP opener. Because I couldn't find any information.

And then I see people complaining about bad people.

I can understand what you mean I'm pretty new with monk, I know the pvp skills help a ton. and stun attacks. And using LB when you can get a good opportunity. I was just saying players are hard to keep up with in pvp as a monk. I main a ranged class. I'm still learning mnks skills too. So if you find a good guide let me know. :)
