By no rewards i mean items/gil not exp.
I agree. I would much rather do the quest over. Please make this a option
I was in though that repeatable quests are called levequests and are giving exp on par with FATEs (and even more sometimes).
I'm not entirely sure considering that I was checking leves a moment ago, and level 58 leves give 25k while azys FATEs give me about 58k+ or something. I might be wrong though and probably checked badly, so I'll leave it be for now.
However my issue is, considering the time it takes time to do a levequest you might as well do a FATE: it's 1-2 (or more) minutes against 30 seconds from a fate (whether in group or not). Quantity over quality I'd say.
Besides, doing quests is more fun than doing repetive levequest and FATes (plus the exp reward aren't bad at all) and, correct me if I'm wrong, this is a videogame. Y'know, it's supposed to be enjoyable and fun, not boring and tedious and while fun and boring are subjective things, I don't really see the problem of "refreshing" the quest on class switch. I only see win-win here.
If not, well I guess I'll stick with dungeons: FATE groups are so few and I rather save leves for gathering and crafting.
I would love this option, dislike leves and xp rewards for them are terrible especially the higher you go. Would be a nice alternative, we do have several options for leveling alt jobs already, which is great but this option would also be appreciated.
Just bump up the reward for leves.
They're no more interesting than quests. GO to x. Kill or collect X. Receive reward. If you think you're doing anything interestingly different while questing than doing leves...than idk what to say? Maybe you're actually doing the Indiana Jones quests in Cata, switching to XIV, doing leves and mistakenly thought it was the same game?
I'd prefer they pump some effort into leves (XP, variation, Amber glamour's, rare glamour's from chests, maybe a rare mount also) than make normal quests repeatable.
Wouldn't this be like going back in time and repeating it? I don't see how this would work without completely messing the timeline up for some stories. Also, it's easy enough to level as it is. I don't really think we need to repeat quests for exp when we have roulette, dungeons, leves, FATE's, challenge log, hunting log, and others I've probably forgotten.
Shhhhhhhh.
We don't talk about timelines and quests. You can cook something for X, but X is now the ex X. But ex X is still the X because X was the X in the time period which you completed the quest even though that time period is long gone, despite you completing it now.
Quests aren't even efficient once you have the armory bonus. I don't see why you would want this.
Yes I can read thank you. Still don't see the point.
When I get bored of leveling I go do something else, not wish I could do something that barely gives EXP.
Not to mention, we already have daily repeatable quests and leves for leveling options. I leveled my warrior and monk to 60 almost 100% with vanu vanu and vath...
Yes please
Fate grinding drains my life force
Congratulations, today you're gonna learn that other people are not you, and do not do things, or want to do things the same way that you do.
Despite the inefficiency, Questing provides us with entertainment, it's something to do that keeps me interested in what i'm doing. I don't care if fate and dungeon spam is more efficient than quests, i'd rather do quests than sit in a zone doing the same fates over and over, or doing the same dungeon a dozen times.
Read but not comprehend.
You're entirely missing the point that the OP is making, that those things get boring and repetitive, having the option to revisit old questlines not only allow us to catch something we may have missed but also gives us the option to replay our favorite parts. Take the grand melee part of the recent patch that would be great to replay as a different class and see a different aspect of the battle. Maybe someone would want to rerun the coil missions because they blew through the text not to burden the team waiting for them to finish the unlock.
I would love this option, I am tired of doing FATEs and dungeons, please Square
Replaying solo scenarios is not the same as redoing tedious fetch quests. Being able to replay solo scenarios for fun is something that has been asked for for quite a long time, and something I support. What is asked for in this thread is just to be able to do the general quests again, something that isn't needed and is a waste of resources and time by the development team.
If you're just wanting to do something 'for fun' that doesn't actually help you achieve the goal of getting to max level quickly, there's plenty of stuff for that already in the game. So having a leveling alternative that is barely short of a waste of time just isn't something that I can back, sorry.
It is a little about efficiency. Leves suck xp wise, dungeons take way to long to get into sometimes and fates take to long when youre the only one doing them. It would also kill any downtime and make the game more fluid. For those people who are against it, i didnt request to make it mandatory to redo quests, so I am not sure what the problem is.
I guess we are going to have to agree to disagree running quests while waiting for queues or while waiting for fate parties is indeed a massive increase in XP gain while you're leveling. Looking at your lodestone profile you seem to have mostly tanks and healers to 60, if dps had such a short queue for dungeons I might not even be asking.
I'm probably opposite of most of you as I don't spend a whole lot of time in dungeons and fates. It is my first time through though, so the MSQ and side quests provide significant exp on their own. And I am currently under the mindset of being so tired of doing the side quests; the side quests to side quests, and the side quests to side quests, to those side quests. However, I would imagine I might miss them when they are no longer a means to gain exp.
Perhaps SE could just release new quests along with the patches for all level ranges but also include repeatable levequests? Or maybe even a 'quest reset' NPC in a particular area that will allow you do them again, but only after getting one job to 60?
I really wish I could redo the entire story mode on my main character.
While you can do content X many times (Titan), the story for content X (gather stuff for dinner before fighting against Titan) you do only once.
Also ex X always happen after X in the story (You have to defeat the first summon, so the beastmen have a reason to summon a stronger version)
I think I'd like redoing sidequests for all the dialogue I missed out on, when 3.0 dropped I was pressured into hitting 60 as fast as possible for my static so I skipped a lot...
...
but then I think of those moogles in Churning Mists...
Thinking about it I guess it depends on how it's approached. If you can select any sidequest to repeat as many times as you want and still get full exp from it every time, it could possibly be abused... There's a handful of "talk to this guy that's not really that far away from me" quests, no?
Beastmen Dailies, Leves, Hunts, Challenge Logs. YOu have a variety to level with and yet you only focused on FATES and dungeons. YOu completely ignored Beastmen Dailies which offer you up to 6 quest daily in 3.0 zones to get a decent chunk of xp, Hunts in 3.0 zones which offer you a chunk of xp for dipossing for 15 targets and of course leves which serve as a bite-sized like quest experience which you can store up to 99 and then use them as you please.
There is no need to "redo" quest because the game already has other methods and "quest" you can redo.
Also want this too. Leveling by fates and leves is really boring. And I don't want to dungeon if I don't have to. Story ones are fine and not really that hard.
People focus on FATEs and Dungeons because they're the -only- things worth doing for experience. All of those activities you mentioned are either limited (6 dailies? Really?), too time consuming (400k exp from 30 minutes hunting but you can easily can get triple from FATEs: it's about 40-50k exp in less than a minute) and boring (Leves are literally bite sized quests with zero thought process...and take too much time when you can use that time to do Fates. Which gives higher exp reward too). Challenge logs aren't bad but requires all the above activities in the span of a week...again why bother, when you can get the same amount in less than a day and with almost zero effort (except killing your enjoyment)
So yes, there is variety, but in this case it's quantity over quality: among all these choices only two come up to be the best, which are FATEs and Dungeons. And even then FATEs are becoming less and less productive, especially with the experience discrepancy at each level you get. So dungeons win.
But just like someone said in this thread, if dps queues were as quick as tanks nobody would even complain.
25k is only "basic" reward without extras. Generally you get about ~2.2 times more if you do levequest "quickly" and complete side objectives while you also get some extra loot comparing to FATEs. Also, if we're talking about 51+ stuff, Temple Leves (I mean ones that cost 10 allowances) give pretty nice chunk of exp for not too much of effort. Also, "saving" allowances for leveling non-battle classes not worth it if you're already sitting at 100 allowances and juts do nothing with them (and it's generally the thing with "saving" allowances, because leveling non-battle classes is pretty fast thing to do).Quote:
leves give 25k while azys FATEs give me about 58k+ or something
But I also agree that it would be great if we had some extra content in which we could level as efficiently as leves, FATEs and dungeons.
There are a lot of functionalities in game (such as marriage) which require story quest completion for their allowance. This could be a lot of work creating loopholes for various completions of the line. I feel like perhaps releasing a new leveling method would be cool, but I've no ideas for a good one.
I'd like this option. It would be nice to quest while waiting on a dungeon queue as a DPS. Leves work, but they stop at 40-45. Also, I imagine it's annoying when your queue pops in the middle of one. You'd basically have to abandon it and restart after the dungeon.
Plus it sucks doing the same 4-6 leves over and over and over in one leveling session. At least with quests, once per class means there is more time in between seeing the same quest again, which May mean less burn out for some.
I was level first pugilist/monk. Then made level machinist came harder level.
I loved Main guests, I hope if re-do main guests. ALso normal quests as I make new classes.
I really dislike levemate. It's boring.
Gotta get on that Fate grind.
I have missed key quests in the past because of all the low level quest icons cluttering the mini map, and quite enjoy having finally completed everything. As long as this hypothetical quest repeating feature stayed optional I wouldn't mind. Personally I prefer having completed one time quests to remain completed. If I want to do repeatable quests or quest-like activities I have 12 daily quests per day, 6 leve quests per day, 3 clan mark bills per day, sightseeing log, hunting log for each class and an unlimited amount of fates which work just like quests (kill mobs, gather flowers, kill "boss", escort).
Still don't agree with this.. I like things to be completed. Like Reinha said, I prefer one time quests to remain that way. Again, nobody has really provided a counter argument to the fact the character timeline would be completely messed up when repeating certain quests too.
I wouldn't mind repeatable quests, but only new implemented ones. I don't want to have to repeat old content for the sake of completion.
An alternative or a compromise could well be inserting a Repeatable Story Arc in each and every field zone.
It would be composed of a long quest, say about 10 times as long as normal quests.
It would also be level synced for challenge.
The quest would start at the lowest level area of that zone and auto-update the objective and lead you around the zone exploring, killing trash, killing sub-bosses, fetch quests, participating in FATEs, etc
This would be the one way to make it different to beastmen dailies which just send you from A to B then back A in a repetitive fashion.
It would encourage players to shift around the open world, making it feel less empty to newer players and revitalise these zones where FATEs stay up until expiry. Also players would have incentive to use their chocobos again.
For characters at level cap, these repeatable story arcs could reward tomes or other currencies even beastmen currencies as a reward for clearing the zone.
It also sounds like what would happen lore wise should Deftarm and Co expand their adventurer services throughout the world.
The story arc would be repeatable weekly so as not to completely effect roulettes etc.
Exactly
Changing all quests into repeatable quests? no
Bring new repeatable quests, designed to be repeatable from the beginning, into every zone without messing up with the chronological order of the current story quests? yes
