DR: Steps of Fail

Why is it when I get a fight like Garuda I cannot get people to ignore mechanics to speed up the fight and then when I get SoF everyone insists on ignoring mechanics?

Not sure. I haven't failed Steps of Faith since the day of release.

After the nerf SOF is laughably easy. You can DPS Vishap down without a single Dragon Killer.
I wish they'd at least add in the pre-nerf fight as like a bonus or something

Maybe because some people never did Steps before but Garuda HM its a slightly hard version of the normal in phase 1 so everyone should to know how to do the mechanics?.

I mean i understand your point, at this ilvl now its no necesary to do the mechanics, but maybe some people think they can survive her atacks.

I have been messing around doing Trial DR for giggles and the number of fails I have seen in Steps of faith this week is honestly amazing. Tanks/heals that refuse to hold critters where cannons can hit them. Entire groups that refuse to use anything... I can almost trigger the tethers and the DK and I know that because I got a lot practice trying it. I think it may be possible for a ninja/mnk since they can run a little faster. I have watched people scream over and over for raise even though its totally pointless there and they are being told by everyone it is pointless.

I want this as an option in general, like Undersized Party and Minimum ilvl. It would be cool to be able to experience fights as they were when they have been released (bugfixes aside, obviously), the most recent example being A3S.

And while this might be a somewhat unpopular opinion, I do think the original Steps of Faith was a pretty damn cool fight. The major issue it had was that it had no wipe condition except time running out, so any failure with mechanics would result in several minutes of waiting until the fight actually fails. It's actually one of the two things in the game I would really love to see an Extreme mode of (the other being Ascian Prime), if only for seeing the community's reaction. :p

The sad part is, I recently had a group that couldn't get him past 60% on the first attempt...

People still wipe to this even after the nerf and yet it was clearable by a team of 8 DRG before the nerf

To be honest people still wipe after the nerf. But if you do mechanics like assigning players to their duties and leave high dps focus on Vishap. I think my last SoF run was when I was a DRG with a BRD as new player, we cleared it in 7-10 minutes with one try :D

what I wanna know is why they stick us all in DR steps.. and then you get in and there's no bonus.. what's that about?!

SoF Ex would be amazing. I actually really like the trial, it's just a shame that half the time you're stuck with people who can't even understand basic mechanics.

Why does no one ever do the snares?! It even yells at you when to do it on the screen!
