Try and talk you way out of this lore team challenge!

So just realised the component of the draconian pots include dragon blood.
The recipe is:
1x Abalathian rock salt
2x Dragon blood
2x Furymint
2x Random herb depending on pot
1x Duskborne aethersand.
Making us essentially drink Spiced dragon blood. And its not like we drink an insignificant amount. we drink 2 whole vials of dragon blood per pot and its the only liquid component making the potion truly spiced dragon blood. Now we all know in lore that anyone who consumes a decent amount of dragon blood has the ability to turn into an actual dragon and is cast as a heretic in ishgard. Making our strong bond with ishgard at the moment really sketchy. So my biggest question is: when will we get the ability to turn into a dragon? Or will you accept the challenge and make up a reason that negates my theory...?:confused:

Also the fact that we literally have to commit heresy to defeat the illuminati...

Well, the Furymint, an herb that resembles real life Spearmint could have some aetheric essence of Halone in it, which neutralizes the corrupting influence of dragon blood. The salt could also taint the blood in some way, or the aethersand acts as a purifier. And, at the very least, the processing, be it heating or distilling, likely destroys whatever component in dragon blood that corrupts people.

Also, minor spoilers:

Rielle from the DRK story line, has dragon blood in her body that she was forcefully fed by her captors at her mother's will so her mother would have a reason to kill her child in a positive light to the papacy. And beyond an above average aptitude for conjury, Rielle shows no signs of corruption.

Your lore is wrong. Very wrong.

Only the descendants of the original twelve Knights (who consumed the Dragon whose name I can't spell) transform with specially prepared Dragon blood.

Just drinking a random dragons blood won't transform an these people either.

Only those of Ishgardian origin can become dragons after drinking of dragon blood (and a specifically prepared dragon blood, mind you), because only them descended from one of the Knights Twelve (they gained this ability, and thus all their descendents, because they gouged on Ratatoskr's eyes). Given that our character is not an Ishgardian, we don't have the ability of transforming, even when drinking dragon blood, so I believe it's quite safe (although heretic) to do so.

Well, to be fair, if you read the descriptions for pretty much all the 'vials of xxxxblood' items, most actually aren't even confirmed to be even be what they say on the tin (voidsent blood specifically is noted like this). So, whose to say it is even dragon blood? It could be tomato sauce for all you know...

Seriously though, as the others above have stated, the 'drink dragon blood and turn into a dragon' only affects those who are native-born Ishgardian - that is, they trace their ancestry back to King Thordan and the Knights Twelve, because after consuming Rattoskr's eyes they ended up infused with her essence, something which they then passed down through the generations to their offspring. A native-born Ishgardian who then drinks dragon blood then painfully mutates into a dragon - the dragon blood seemingly 'activating' the dormant dragon essence/genes/<insert-technobabble-of-choice-here> within them. Anyone else though probably wouldn't experience anything more severe other than mild poisoning I'd imagine (or at least an upset stomach). :p

Note this is also the reason why the player as an Azure Dragoon easily resisted Nidhogg's influence through the Eye during the original DRG Job quest storyline as if it was nothing, where as Estinen wasn't so lucky (to say nothing of the Echo and the Blessing of Light also providing added protection). He's native born Ishgardian where as the player canonically is not.

So yeah, unless Ferne and the rest of the writing and lore teams have some surprises in store, I don't think the player has anything to worry about. ;)

Dammit, didn't know about the ishgardian descent things. and i do try to read every single line of text in the game qq. Shame, saw something funny coming up. Thought i had them cornered there but damn they are good hahaha.

Though the idea of having tranformation potions to turn you into the infamous pot in dark souls would be awesome.

Koujiro is correct; only blood poured specifically for that purpose will have any effect. If it's not imbued with the magicks, it's not going to change anyone. The source is a Dengeki Playstation article, one of a few about dungeon design; I did my own translation and it was pretty much the same wording, even.

Now here's something interesting. Just how long did Nidhogg wait to get his revenge on the knights and King Thordan? We know that there were only four survivors from among the Knights Twelve, and presumably only offspring produced AFTER consuming Ratotskr's eyes would be imbued with dragon essence, right?

So, either all the Ishgardians are descendents of those four knights, or Nidhogg gave the King and the Twelve plenty of time to pump out some kids before going medieval on them...

For me, the real question is how a Diresaur turned up in Turn 13 when Ratatoskr wasn't even dead yet...

Obviously, there's another way... (Or, T13, being within the crystal heart, changed the rules a bit.)

Could be a human that really liked dragons, and begged to become one of them. Or it could have been someone that did a similar thing to what Thordan did (just on a smaller scale), then getting captured by the meracydian dragons and turned into one.

The thing about Nidhogg is that he doesn't want to avenge Ratatotskr (at least not any more). He wants to make all Ishgardians suffer. Not only because they are all descendent from the Knights Twelve, but also because he doesn't trust - and even hates - humans any more (remember, the Elezen were the ones that broke the trust with the Dragons by foolishly listening to the Ascians and killing Ratatotskr for her eyes). And he's doing so for the whole duration of the Dragonsong War (a thousand years or so). That's why he never tried to finish the war. He simply tries to make them suffer as much as possible, for as long as possible. So he never "waited" to get revenge. The Dragonsong War itself is his revenge.

That was indeed the case and infact was more the reason why Ishgard has started tearing itself apart following the revelation of the origins of the Dragonsong War - as Ishgard's theoracy had made up that only those of 'noble blood' were descended from Thordan and the Knights Twelve, where in actual fact, every Ishgardian, either noble or low born, traces their ancestry from those six remaining knights (remember, there was actual six surviving knights not four as shown in that Echo scene, when the survivors decided to "leave the throne empty" and establish themselves as stewards, two decided to cast away the sword and settle down into "honest trades", one of whom strongly hinted to have been the founder of the 'Forgotten Knight' pub in Ishgard based on his "serving ale instead of steel" remark - hence the pub's name rings true. The other one, it's unclear where he went or what he did, he had no dialogue and wasn't even named in that Echo scene. So those two nameless knights presumably were the ones who established the 'lower ranks', the common citizenry who eventually became downtrodden as the 'lowborn'. The remaining four knights were the founding members of the Four Noble Houses of Ishgard and established the city's nobility, eventually intermarrying so much that the actual family lines are probably now very blurred indeed.

Thus this alone probably caused more anger and resentment among Ishgard's citizens than the revelation that elezen and dragon once lived together in harmony or that it was Ishgard who betrayed the dragons and caused the Dragonsong War, which is sadly also partially the reason why Aymeric's reforms to restore relations with the benign dragons of Anyx Trine are constantly meeting with resistance from his own people - because it was the nobility who lied to them, it's ironically caused a situation where to many in the Foundation no matter what a noble says now it's bound to be a lie, and thus reacts accordingly. It's a sad situation to be true, but something which can be overcome. Alas, with Nidhogg's shadow continuing to darken the skies it will be a long time yet before Ishgard and dragonkind finally sees peace.

There were eight knights that survived, including Haldrath. The casualties were King Thordan and four of the knights.
