[Feast Feedback] Rewards and New PvP Profile

The following document contains collaborative feedback for the reward system in the Feast. The purpose for these rewards is to increase incentive to participate in the Feast each season and provide players with more options to display their achievements. Contributions come from several experienced players on the Aether datacenter.

Seasonal Rewards

• Please consider adding rewards to Ranked Light Party. This is the only mode that can be played with a group of friends that utilizes a lot of communication and coordination between teammates. It needs incentive in order to stay active throughout the season.
• Trophy for top prize is good, but some players might not have a house to display it. We think a unique title should also be awarded for the top player in Solo Ranked and the same title for the top 10 players in Light Party Ranked. These titles are permanent and would be rewarded at the end of the season. Here are some titles that were suggested:

  • "Leader of the Pack"
  • "The Legendary Wolf"
  • "Wolf of Legends"
  • "Wolf of Swords"
  • "The Feastful Wolf"

• The Mentor System “Crown” icon is currently very popular. We think that icons would be a unique way to reward and display a player’s PvP achievement at the end of the season, based on the tier they end at. These PvP icons would last only up until the end of the next season, when new seasonal rewards are awarded:

Examining a Player's PvP Profile

• Consider allowing players to examine other player’s PvP profiles, since this information will already be available for everyone to see on the lodestone.
• Consider making adjustments to the PvP Profile to display a player’s previous season tier achievements. This provides incentive to participate every season.
• Since a player’s rank in Diamond Tier is important, consider displaying a player’s rank number of where they stand in the rankings (updated daily).
• Consider displaying a rank number of where a player ended in Diamond Tier in previous seasons.

The current seasonal rewards are not enough, but with these proposed changes, we believe that this will increase competition and participation for both casual and hardcore players.

Agree with this, especially the check/icon by name stuff. Was my pride and joy back in ff11 ballista to get pvp chevrons which popped up everytime I got checked. While I love pvp purely for pvp's sake...must admit it did indeed make some of those 1-sided arsewhoopins more palatable knowing you still had something to show for your effort if you actually tried. And with the less than divine comedy of solo que ranking, a little more motivation couldnt hurt.

All these examples are really awesome.

I'm so happy with how pvp is set up with this game. It's not all about rewarding only the people who can be pvp'ing 20 hours a day 7 days of the week. Systems like that make me sick. And any system like that would make anybody get sick.

Great ideas (nice concept pictures too). 100% support and hope something like this gets implemented.

Wow, glad Im not the only one that thinks this. Its this aspect of the rank system that really impresses me. There are certainly parts of it I dont like, but screw me if I could come up with anything better.

That's what I thought when Feast come. But the icon isn't beside our name lol. With option to show it or not won't hurt too.

I like to say that the Mentor Crown icon is pretty much that paper crown you get from Burger King's Kid's Meals. Whoppee congrats on playing the game! Walking around town with a paper crown...wowyoursocool

I doubt anyone ( arbitrary 90% of the community) will strut around with a big "Bronze" icon brand near their names. I guess you can show off once you play enough matches and get diamond, or whatever high rank. Mind you, I do enjoy pvp in this game; just seems excessive to start off implementing pvp based icons in a primarily pve game.

More pvp titles....ohgod

I like the subtle idea of UI changes the most.

Don't newbies already get beat by experienced players? That's life. There could be different rewards for different rankings same as solo queue.

I did ranked party with friends last night and we saw teams from Faerie, Coeurl, Cactuar, and Balmung who were all also new. We saw a Gilgamesh team with much more experienced players that crushed us twice, but that was out of 9 games. It's really not that bad out there.

This is true for any competitive game, there will always be newbie groups and experienced groups. Matchmaking is already set in so that a full diamond team will only gain 1 rating from a full bronze team, and the bronze team will only lose 1 rating. Yeah, newbie groups might get bronze the first season, but they'll progress and hit gold the second season, and maybe diamond by the third season, too. Everyone starts somewhere, it's a long term learning process.

The purpose of the icons is to introduce a new incentive to the PvP side of things. Yeah, it's still a PvE centered game, but based on the fact that SE has been spending more and more time on PvP content, I don't think it's excessive to give PvP something neat to promote it.

Amazing stuff Nik! These are some great ideas that I think will help ensure the long term survival of PvP and motivate people to get in there! People may say "but who would want to display a silver medal", but to that I saw I just got silver in solo queue and I was extremely excited, I would ABSOLUTELY display that icon above my head if I could. Every group that plays would have some goal to strive for regardless of skill level and would be a great way to offer rewards and repeated participation that the current system lacks.

Ppl with more experience will always outplay ones without but guess how we started? the exact same way.

think of raid statics. you start out you get destroyed by enrage all that jazz.

then you keep playing with your group. come up with strats and try again.

you train, you get better, you end up on top.

I like everything you mocked up but the titles are a little cheesy. I'd like to see them move away from having wolf in every title ala Hand of Mercy, and xyz Frontrunner. Also

I think the same, I would like to see something linked to your tier, I'll just throw some exampel there hoping that someone could improve them XD

Diamond Wolf
Diamond Eye Wolf
Platinum Fang Wolf
Gold Mantle Wolf...

Or even avoid the "Wolf" word to prioritize the Tier for achievment's titles

I admit the trophy is a pretty lack luster if you don't have a house, but I always liked that they haven't made achievements (which titles are attached to) very competitive. Although there are many that take a very long time to get, a lot of luck, or just come to you if you are active in the game, they are still achievable if you keep trying even if you aren't amazing at whatever it is you have to do and there isn't a limit to the amount of people that can get them.
(For example: you can still win matches for the "You are what you eat" achievements even if your win ratio is terrible, it will just take longer)

TLDR: I do hope they improve the PVP rewards, but I wish for them to keep achievements as they are.

I can see the crown being used, though only seen in PvP areas such as the Wolves Den Pier and no where else.

Well, it would only show in PvP areas which include Seal Rock, Borderland Ruins, and The Feast / The Fold as well as the Wolves' Den Pier.

Haaving an high tier is probably all way better that self-declare "PvP Mentor" when it will be available up to me.
So you should be able to use it in all the areas, because Wolves Den Pier is actually almost used just to go there and grab something with you Wolves Mark, usually people don't stay there.

The feast title for rank one should be "Immortal God-King"

We've been checking various aspects on the Feast, such as matchmaking and the number of players participating, and based on this data the team has held a discussion on rewards. Since there have been many requests, especially from North America and Europe, we have decided to prepare ranked rewards for Season 1 of the Feast (4 on 4 - Light Party).

As the end of Season 1 approaches, we will follow-up with details on how many top tier players will be receiving rewards and what kind of rewards will be available. We hope that with these new rewards will serve as competitive motivation to participate in the Feast as a light party as well as solo!

He means cheaters not wintraders, it is extremely hard to try and wintrade in premade queue because of the language option remove
